I was in need of a replacement for my old Fischer 2ch amplifier. This thing is awesome. Has a built-in phono preamp (not the loudest, but sufficient and can have the preset db level adjusted based on the channel you select). This is working great to interface with my standing floor speakers and pair with my TV through the eArc feature. Very impressive 5.2 channel unit. The only thing that might detract is that you HAVE to hook it up to your TV to setup and go thru all of the on-screen prompts. But this is infinitely customizable and they have a great app you can download to toggle between channels and pair with streaming services like Spotify. Really powerful AVR.

Arrived on time, carefully boxed.Set up instructions for connecting speakers were easy to follow. Enough power for my five speakers and the front panel choices were easy to understand.I do have 2 minor complaints.1-Since the enclosed instructions are minimal, I had to download the complete manual from Denon's website.2-The instructions for setting up all the possible connections to the TV and selecting the best parameters were not all that clear and I had to spend a good amount of time getting them all working.

This is my second Denon Audio receiver I have owned. The first was about 25 years old before I decided to replace it for newer technology. To me they are one of the best surround receiver for the money you can by. It has great sound and not hard to set up. It is worth it to by quality speakers to match with this receiver to get that quality sound it is capable of producing.

So when i went to ask about the “Everything needed online, and all that was needed. I still had to come back to the store multiple times, and spend more money to get what was required! The bundled items online gave me mismatched brands which can cause delays, and not even the required front speakers were associated with the “everything needed”. At the store I specifically asked for an audio expert, so they can confirm I was purchasing everything i needed, he answered every thing I said with a yes! My previous Denon AVR gave out, having overheated in a space that was really too small. This new one is even better than the old one was, with automatic calibration and an even fuller sound. Just to make sure, I added some fans. I only wish that either there was a power outlet in the back that's controlled by the AVR's power switch, or that the USB port would shut down when the AVR's power is off. That would have earned it a fifth star.
My first and last Denon receiver. The list of complaints is long, but I'll start with the misleading part of the product description. The 4k HDR passthrough only works when it's turned off, which makes it pretty inconvenient if you like sound with your movies.The menu graphics are reminiscent of the original Nintendo, except not as colorful.Amplifier is downright anemic, and doesn't do much below half volume.I'm also in the process of my second warranty claim. First the receiver stopped working, now the remote.Once everything is working again I'm taking it to the pawn shop, where it can become someone else's headache.

I replaced an old Sony STR-DH550 with this Denon and I am very pleased with my purchase:* I only need 5.1 why pay for 7 or 9 or 11?* it has an excellent on-screen display for setup* it has a phono input, letting me relive my vinyl glory days* it has banana plug jacks, making swap-out a breezeThings that gave me pause:* switching video inputs causes a brief black-out, while the receiver adjusts to the new frame rate and resolution. This turns out to be worth it, because it adjusts between 24fps and 30fps depending on the sourceHave not tried yet:* upscaling. I think my Sony TV is probably better equipped for this so I don't need your upscaling thank you very much
