I was (and still am) a big fan of Aveda's Shampure and having never used any other shampoo by this brand I was curious to see if this could match or better the results I had with shampure. There was no reason for it not to, with such good ingredients in it. However after about 3 or 4 uses my scalp began to itch and flake in a way that it hasn't done in a very long time. This was the only thing different in my haircare routine. Although I'm tempted to say it's the invigorating/stimulating ingredients in here: i.e Rosemary extract, Peppermint or Camphor, the truth is I regularly use other products which contain these ingredients AND at stronger concentrations so I know that can't be it. My guess is one of the few chemicals in here is causing the reaction. Such a shame ... For what it's worth (and the reason why I've not rated it lower) I loved how this is actually a very effective shampoo at cleaning without weighing down or stripping my hair. Each of the few times I used it I found the Peppermint/Rosemary aroma really invigorating as I inhaled it (I imagine this would be amazing at the end of a hot summers day) and my hair itself super-clean and vibrant. I do use it occasionally as a clarifying shampoo when it seems I've got some product build-up on my hair or if I've used an oil treatment and don't want my hair flattened out asnoil treatments tend to do with fine hair. I love the brand and honestly, as a natural redhead, I have a lot of allergies. This brand saved my scalp about 20 some years ago. I tend to get itchy sores on my head from shampoos I'm allergic to, which is most drugstore brands. I even tried Redkin Biolage and Matrix shampoo to no avail. I was headed to a dermatologist when I found Aveda . A guy in a mall flagged me down and recommended Aveda. Of course, he was a salesman for them, but they are all licensed to do hair and he wasn't wrong. I think this was the first one I tried. I quickly switched to Invati to help my then thinning hair, which helped my scalp and my hair. Eventually I moved to a mix of the volumizing shampoo and the Invati, which did help my thinning hair, but didn't moisturize or volumize. Iver the years, I think I've used almost all of them and I pretty much exclusively use the Aveda brand. My favorite is the Be Curly line which helps those of us with curly or wavy hair have a nice curl with a lot less frizz and it seems moisturizing as well. They have moisturizing shampoo too and though I can't recall the name of it at the moment, I've used that type too and really like it. All in All, I love Aveda products, and I use the whole line of hair care products, again with the Be Curly Style Prep and Styling Cream. It saved my scalp from psoriasis -like sores that itched, burned, bled and scabbed over. I still get them occasionally but it's nothing in comparison. Apparently this problem runs in the family as my grandmother had the same issue and my mom to a limited degree. I do occasionally try other high-end hair care products out of curiosity but I always return to Aveda. As long as I keep getting these results, I imagine I always will. I took cosmetology in high school, got a license and worked in a few salons in the '80's '90's. I loved make-up hair then and I still do today. Health reasons took me from my first love, and I had to pursue employment where I didn't stand so much and breathe in the toxic chemicals all day. Salons weren't well ventilated back in the day like they, are not, and it was the big hair days. Everyone was getting perms and I was, well I was passing out, and I had leg problems too, among other things. The docs linked it to my employment so I left the field and let my license expire. But I will always love the beauty field. Hair, makeup, massage, manicures, all of it..now I'm over-educated for a stay at home position that pays in chronic pain, medical tests and doc visits and a whole lot of other issues I won't get into here.... But I won't steer you wrong. I think the Aveda brand has quality products that won't let you down, especially if you find the right one for you, and they have something to offer everyone.

My hair has been going through a real rough time this year. I realised that it must have been falling out about six months ago from stress because I am currently experiencing little baby hairs that are growing in every which direction except where I want them! Still - I am grateful to have my hair, and made the decision that I need to step up my hair care to give it the love it deserves.I had been using a shampoo that didn't suit my hair type at all and always felt like it was left feeling like it had an oily (slightly sticky) texture to it. My hair is fine and thin, so this just weighed it down and made it feel absolutely disgusting. I too have felt gross from this, and have been longing for better hair days all year.Aveda is a brand that I really like - I ... MoreMy hair has been going through a real rough time this year. They just smell so good!!!This shampoo hasn't let me down as far as the fragrance side goes, but it also has worked wonders on my fine oily hair. My hair actually feels clean now, but not stripped of all it's life. I feel like it is gentle enough to use every day if I want, but also makes my hair feel fresh and clean all day long. Those little fly-aways are still there, but hopefully over time they will grow and become less visable.I have been teaming this up with the Aveda Blonde Conditioner, and also the Heat Resist, which is just gorgeous, and perfect for fine hair as it isn't heavy at all.I would highly suggest checking this product out if you have fine / thin / oily / greasy gross hair like mine was.

I REALLY wanted to like this shampoo, but unfortunately my hair has become increasingly dry - even after experimenting with using the conditioner just on the ends and also from root to tip.My hairdresser recommended buying more expensive shampoo and washing my hair once a week instead of more frequently. After my haircut I left it a week (which was tough!), and washed with an eco shampoo bar (to avoid my high-street ordinary shampoos that my hairdresser advised against) that ordinarily didn't do anything great, but it was amazing! My hair looked like it had always 'just been brushed', very full and shiny. I knew that the bar wasn't great for the long term, so I took the hair quiz on the Aveda website and bought this Rosemary and Mint shampoo and conditioner. I was ... I was really hoping the same thing would happen again. It has been so disappointing. My hair is now so dry. I chose this shampoo as I live in an area with hard water and thought the purifying aspect would help. Also the shampoo my hairdresser used at my haircut was of a similar variety designed to focus on cleaning your hair, but it was aloe vera and mint by Kevin Murphy. I have been washing my hair only once a week, using the conditioner as well, and I use hair oil on the ends of my hair and to tame fly-aways. I don't know what to do! I have these huge litre bottles now.
We moved recently to a SOFT water area and my baby fine straight hair couldn't cope with the residue left by the soft water. Gone were my naturally shiny, floaty, carefree locks - the soft water really weighed them down, plastering my now flat, thin & lifeless hair onto my head - many tears about the new soft water! I tried everything from apple cider vinegar rinses to shampoos for oily hair but my 'normal' but fine hair refused to respond & I actually started having it cut shorter, tied it up all the time & considered a wig. In final desperate measures I tried this product. All I can say is, I love it, it cherishes my hair and smells gorgeous too. I don't use much, I wash every 3 days, use minimal hydration conditioner (if any) and it's more like the hair I had ... I recommend it highly and say that it's perfect for fine straight normal hair. Thank you so much Aveda and JL for stocking it x ps. It even works fabulously as a body wash, to rid of soft water deposits x
Love the smell and feel of the rosemary mint /conditioner. My hair is fine and thinning and it cleans my scalp and strands without weighing it down and theres no oily or weighed down feeling throughout the day. The subtle tingling sensation also let's me feel like my scalp is getting a little extra massage after my last rinse. People who say this product leaves their hair oily ,obviously aren't rinsing the product out well and/or are using something to heavy afterwards for styling products. Also I always do two shampoos if the first one doesn't get many suds. I use the volumizing tonic and thickening tonic along with hairspray to style , so I want to make sure all that product is out before restyling again so my hair doesnt have product buildup. I've used Aveda shampoo for years and absolutely loved it. The rosemary mint scent is my favorite. I've bought nearly every product they have in this scent family. Recently, I purchase a large container of this shampoo and conditioner after not using it for a year or so. I was thrilled to finally have it back in my routine, but was shockingly disappointed with the outcome. THEY HAVE CHANGED THE FORMULA! The new formula is horrible, and it destroyed my hair. My hair and scalp are now unbelievably dry. I switched my shampoo after using it just a few times. My suspicions were confirmed when I flipped the bottle over to read the ingredients. The second ingredient on the conditioner is cetyl alcohol! I can't believe I didn't notice this when I bought it. Now I'm stuck ... MoreI've used Aveda shampoo for years and absolutely loved it. I used to use the Rosemary Mint shampoo years ago, but switched over to Shampure. I wanted to try the Rosemary Mint again thinking that a clarifying shampoo would be good. The shampoo seems watered down to me compared to the Shampure and I can't get it to lather much at all. Therefore, it's difficult to get it to spread around and cover my scalp and hair. I tried using a larger amount and still had the same problem. I started reading reviews for both the Rosemary Mint and Shampure and it seems that Aveda has changed the formulas and many people are unhappy with the products. When they already had excellent products, I don't understand why they would change the winning formulas that peopled loved. I won't buy the Rosemary Mint again.
I really enjoy the scent of this shampoo. It makes my hair feel super clean and gets rid of all the heavy products I add to my curly hair. My hair gets extremely tangled especially when wet and with this shampoo I'm able to finger comb my hair with the shampoo still in it. Every other shampoo I've used makes it even more tangled.I haven't tried the conditioner next but hope to soon.Aveda why do you offer Afterpay for the US but not Canada?! Accidentally went on the US site and got excited thinking I could finally use Afterpay for my purchase. Please consider adding for Canadians! As much as I love your products they are very pricey and this single momma deserves good hair products!
