I have used Scalp Benefits for years. It's the best shampoo ever. My hair is so light, super soft and the most healthy it's ever been from the moment I started using Scalp Benefits years ago. I was brave and Even after reading all the reviews I still tried it just in case I was one of the few people who liked the new formula. I was wrong. I hated it. While I was rinsing the shampoo out of my hair, I just knew I wasn't going to like it. It felt oily and gross. Once I dried it, it was even worse. My hair was heavy and looked dirty like I hadn't washed in 3 days. It was darker then usual as well and I had this horrible split down the back from it being so heavy and oily. I tried it a couple more times just to see if my hair needed a chance to get use to the new formula ... MoreI have used Scalp Benefits for years. It's the best shampoo ever. People love this product for what it is. We don't want it better. We want the same product we have always used left alone and never changed. It's just that simple. I can see many people are missing scalp benefits. Shame on you Aveda for taking away such a wonderful product. Do right by your customers and bring back scalp benefits, please! We all beg you to bring it back.

I have been giving this a chance. I like that it doesn't dry out my hair quite as much as Scalp Benefits, which was a clear product and this is a cream. However, the ingredients must be different, because it doesn't seem as effective. I had been using Scalp Benefits for decades once a week to control a chronic dandruff problem. Using it once a week was effective enough that I literally had no dandruff problem. I was hopeful about this new product and have been using it with the same frequency, but have noticed that after a week, my scalp feels itchy again and my issue is returning. Please bring back Benefits as it was hands-down the best for treating dandruff. I loved that it was also a natural product. Very sad that this is discontinued. I have been using the shampoo and conditioner for about 5 weeks, and I like both. The scent is unusual, and it is Aveda's version of a medicinal scent if that makes sense. The shampoo contains just the right amount of menthol in the formula. It doesn't really give that cooling sensation that gives one a false sense of clean, which I appreciate. I do use products containing peppermint oil or menthol for scalp spot treatment, but companies often put too much in there, which is actually drying for your hair and scalp. Anyway, I used the scalp benefits shampoo (old formula for scalp) and found that it really didn't do anything for my scalp and it was very stripping/drying. It is very moisturizing for the hair and scalp. This is a nice addition to the Aveda lineup. I gave it 4 stars because they should really give us 8 ounces as a standard size for the price--especially the conditioner. Lastly, I really think this line is for dry scalp. This might be TMI, but if it helps someone: I've had a more sensitive/dry scalp since I entered perimenopause. I know that this works because I rotated in a more clarifying shampoo for curly hair for two wash sessions (not back to back of course) and had scalp irritation/dryness. As soon as I returned to this shampoo/conditioner, my scalp calmed down. If you have other scalp problems, I am not so sure it is for you. Maybe rotate in some of the other treatments from the full line. If they have a travel size, I would try the shampoo/conditioner that way first--they also need to give us more product in the travel sizes--come on y'all! Anyway, I have naturally curly hair (4a) that is medium-high porosity, medium density (frizzes easily).

I used balance remedy and loved it for years. When it was discontinued, I TRIED to like this new product, but it is truly awful. The reviews are unfortunately accurate. It is not the same! Scalp benefits leaves a layer of grime on my scalp, and feels unclean. My hair does not even move the same way because it makes my scalp firm, but it still causes it to get greasy. It remarkable that they not only made a product that doesn't work for its intent, but actually goes as far as to make your scalp feel dirty as well. After multiple attempts, I stopped using Aveda products and found a French shampoo and conditioner online that works for me. How disappointing that the aveda line has discontinued its only good products for jusk.
I have been struggling with what products to use for my scalp after realizing I have both eczema there. I have tried other drug store shampoos and honestly, even on the high end of the scale with Oribe or Olaplex there is barely a peep about scalp health. There have been gimmicky scrubs the last few years but nothing that really stands - and no, I'm not talking about the Aveda scalp solutions scrub. I have not yet tried it so I cannot review it.I gave it five stars for how gentle the scent is (though a tad bit medicinal) and how I could tell from day 1 that my scalp was doing better. I was having fewer loose chunks of skin (not to be confused with dandruff but think psoriasis instead) fall into my hands and in general I itch less. I have used Scalp Benefits for the better part of 19 years since it was released. I have also used Rosemary Mint, Sap Moss and Damage Remedy when my hair was long, Shampure a while ago, and Invanti recently (just for fun) at my friends house. Still, I used Scalp Benefits 5/7 days at the very least, but mostly 7/7. It did everything one would hope and it smelled great too!I just ran out of my last bottle, and despite the reviews, I was hoping this would work for me. I was very mistaken. This product doesn't lather well, so I needed to use a bit more than usual. It left my hair feeling unclean, almost unwashed, and my scalp tingling to the point of, after only 5 days, I cannot use it as it has started rash/irritation areas on my scalp. Do yourself and don't waste your $ like I did. Not only did they replace a fantastic product with something far inferior, but it's something that, for me at least, has started causing a scalp condition that I have never had prior to this.I wish they would sell the recipe for Scalp Benefits so us loyal users could use it once again. This is a hard one to replace.
It seems that every 5 years or so, Aveda discontinues their Scalp Benefits line and replaces it with another line (this time, it's Scalp Solutions). I know this because I have been using Aveda's Scalp Benefits Shampoo and Conditioner exclusively for the past 15+ years. Aveda, you bought back Scalp Benefits before, after discontinuing it for a short period of time. Please bring it back again! Now that I'm at a loss because I need Scalp Benefits but I can't buy it. It doesn't lather well and it leaves the skin around my eyes burning from the mint extract (?) that was added to the formulation of the shampoo. The cool burning sensation is very unpleasant, to the point where it's actually painful. The reason why i loyally purchased Aveda Scalp Benefits is because it is the ONE shampoo line that controls my hairline eczema and severe eczema from my hands (since I need to touch the shampoo to wash my hair).Without Scalp Benefits, I'm at a loss. It's almost impossible to find a shampoo that's as well formulated for individuals with very specific scalp conditions. I know many others are experiencing a loss with Scalp Benefits being replaced byScalp Solutions. Please bring back what works for us, as many of us have limited options of hair care lines that we can choose from. Why discontinue something that was so awesome and also helped so many people?
For starters, the price is WAY too much for a shampoo and it's not even all-natural. I got a haircut today and the hairdresser said it would be great on my scalp psoriasis so I said sure, she washed my hair and it felt incredible! (This was the scalp solutions balancing shampoo btw)Bought myself a bottle afterwards right from the shelf though was hesitant to because it was WAAAY OVERPRICED!! Hours and hours later, I feel my scalp because it's burning and I'm wondering what is wrong, and there are these giant scalp clumps that are bleeding and peeling from my head!!!!!! Complete allergic reaction and I'm literally not allergic to anything else I have tried. Smells very high end and herbal like many other amazing Aveda scents. The Aveda scents, like Sap Moss, Shampure, Brilliant, Botanical repair, etc.. are my favorite haircare scents. I love that this is a Neroli based scent, as Neroli is one of my favorite perfume notes. I love the packaging and I felt that the product refreshed and nourished my scalp while protecting my hair. I like that it's a more hydrating scalp shampoo since most are stripping. My medium hair type does best with say the botanical repair line which I also love, whereas my scalp itself is on the oilier side and needs extra care. I'm very glad I bought this shampoo along with the matching scalp spray. I love the great ingredients in both. My scalp is dry and I have allot of buildup. This only gave me less sebum which I actually need. I went back to using the Sun Care shampoo as my clarifying shampoo and the Invati Light shampoo. This two shampoo's are amazing for me. No more scalp acne, no more itching, no more buildup and no more ridiculous hair shed. Now your hair will shed when you first start Invati but don't worry that goes away and it actually stopped the shedding in its tracks. Started incorporating the Sun Care shampoo bc of the buildup that I still was having a little. I feel like Sun Care shampoo gives Invati that boost that I needed. Think of it like giving you a fresh clean pallet for Invati to get in there and do its job.
