Avene Cicalfate Skin Repair Emulsion Post Procedure 40ml

I bought this product (not gifted, provided samples, etc). Just an honest review. This product was actually part of the SOS COMPLETE POST PROCEDURE RECOVERY SYSTEM. I decided to try the Morpheus8 facial treatment. I used after the 1st 2nd procedures. Surprising enough - there will be enough for my 3rd and final treatment. It smoothed soothed my skin. I loved it and my skin felt and healed quicker (in my opinion) than if I had not used it. It’s affordable and because this is made for post procedures- many of the products are sterile. But, as with anything I do tell ppl that they should speak with Avene Tolerance extreme Cleansing lotion,Net Wt. 6.76 oz Package the ppl who do their procedure prior to using anything. Amazing soothing lightweight moisturizer

I wasn’t sure I would like this, but bought based on a recommendation. I actually love it so much that I’ll be trying some other moisturizers from avene!! I just use it as a super lightweight moisturizer to help balance my skin on nights I use differin or retrinAl and it is the only moisturizer I’ve found that doesn’t sting my skin at all. I’m also loving it for combatting chapped skin from cold winter air. It is extremely lightweight so great if you have normal or oily skin- if your skin is super dry you will likely want something thicker than this though.

Great for every day under SPF

I use this after I apply a gentle serum and eye cream. I finish with La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50 in winter. If I can, I use a higher SPF in the summer. Avène products like this are designed for sensitive skin. This has a slight blue tinge to it, and it seems to even out my skin tone. I can apply it near my eyes and no stinging occurs. It serves as a great base layer to use before applying a separate SPF. What I love most is that it is moisturizing , anti bacterial, anti microbial and doesn't make your face look greasy at all, even by days end. This product is also perfect to apply after a skin peel, or if you use a derma roller, do microdermabrasion, or as another customer wrote in, after laser treatments. I just use it as is. I find, however, that it's imoortant to use a serum with antioxidants in it prior to application , because this cream alone is not designed to deliver peptides or Vitamin C. It works very well on my extremely fragile, sensitive skin. I use a more moisturizing cream at night.

Great for summer

I usually use the avene regular cicalfate as my regular moisturizer for my face and neck. But living in LA. It great heavy on hot days. So, I tried this and it’s great. Exactly what I was looking for. Much lighter. Great for summer.

I have SUPER acne prone

I have SUPER acne prone skin and use a retinol to help get rid of scaring. But it makes my skin dry and flaky. This moisturizer fixes that problem! I've been using it for a year now and it helps heal my skin and replenish moisture without leaving it greasy or clogging my pores! It's amazing and a little goes a long way! I also use it after I do at home waxing or hair removal treatments with an IPL machine! One one the best products I've spent money on! I've tried alot of products and this is by far my favorite.

Not for me

I bought this hoping I could use it as a standalone moisturizer, but even with my oily skin this is way too light. It also leaves my skin feeling filmy if I don’t apply my usual moisturizer on top. I’ve been applying it to damp skin and then layering my other skin care on top and my skin is no better or worse than when I started using it four weeks ago. Perhaps it’s best used after treatments specifically.The packaging is nice though and I happen to like the slightly medicinal smell. I’ll use it up, but won’t be repurchasing.

Please bring it back

This original version had 5 stars so that makes no sense to change it. My skin doesn't tolerate hyaluronic acid or niacinamide so the new hydrating version won't work. Hyaluronic acid isn't even that good for skin, Dr Shereene Idriss is a dermatologist and has a YouTube video detailing why glycerin is better.I am so bummed. Please educate yourselves and bring this back.

Prescribed by my husband's dermatologist after a skin graft and radiation therapy on his head, Cicalfate Post- Procedure Emulsion was the most effective in healing his skin. This product made his skin soft and supple, and his surgical scar appearance much improved. Because of this, I use it on my skin when excessively dry or to reduce scarring. It feels wonderful.

Smells bad

I liked the consistency but unfortunately I really dislike the smell. It’s not supposed to have a smell but it reminds me of the EltaMD Moisture-Rich Body Crème which has the same exact smell. It vaguely smells of cigarettes. So I cannot use it.

didn't work for me

I have very sensitive skin and was looking for a lighter moisturizer to soothe my perioral dermatitis during the day. I love the original cicalfate cream and swear by it, but this stuff didn't work for me. I don't know if I'm allergic to something in it or what but it made my perioral dermatitis more red and it burned when I put it on. In addition, it did not sink in very well throughout the day as I put more on it became a thicker layer and took on a blue hue that sat on top of my skin instead of sinking in. Again, it might just be me and my very sensitive skin but given that this is marketed to be for very sensitive skin I thought it would be safe for me. I definitely recommend patch testing first.
