The old formula was a godsend for my extremely sensitive skin. It's the only think I've been able to use in years that hasn't left my skin tight, red, and dehydrated. When I found out they were replacing it, I was a bit nervous, but I figured Avene knows what they're doing and wouldn't mess with the formula in a way that would fundamentally change the product. I have recently purchased my third tube of this product because I have both seen and felt the benefits to my dermatitis-prone skin. I have areas of dermatitis on my hands, fingers, upper arms and face. Avene eases and softens the skin and provides great comfort to those very irritated and roughened areas. I am a big fan, as I have always been prescribed heavy-duty cortisone creams as treatment, and I would prefer using something like Avene that offers noticeable relief without the cortisone. My only wish is that it be offered in a larger, longer-lasting tube. I am most grateful that Jess, one of LovelySkin's customer support representatives, recommended this product to me. I used this during a few of my Rosacea flare-ups and I don't feel that it worked as well to calm my skin down as other products. It by no means made the flare-ups worse, just didn't really ""Calm skin in 30 seconds"" as it claims to. I have also added it to my nightly skincare routine, applying after serums and before moisturizer and I do think it helps to lock hydration in and heal dry, flaky skin. For me, it works much better in this way than applying during reactive episodes. I love that it is completely fragrance-free. A lot of products make this claim but I can confirm that this is definitely the case with this product. I really love the airless pump design and I love the short list of ingredients. In general, I am against leaving negative reviews for skincare products. I have very sensitive skin, and just because something irritates my skin, doesn't mean it's bad. However, considering this product is supposed to be a replacement for the only moisturizer that's worked for me since my skin became so sensitive, I feel comfortable reviewing it in comparison to its predecessor. I don't know what they changed, but this new formula makes this moisturizer just like every other one that claims to work for sensitive skin, if not worse. My skin now feels greasy (as this moisturizer feels like it sits on top of my skin instead of sinking into it), dehydrated, and tight. My subscription for Tolerance Extreme Creme didn't go through, and when I called to find out why, I was told it was discontinued, and that Tolerance Control Soothing Skin Recovery Cream would be an adequate replacement. It is not. Extreme Creme, which I have been using every day for the last 4 years, makes my skin feel moist, plump and saturated without feeling sticky. It was sold in 50ml/1.6 FL OZ quantity. This recovery cream (which only contains 40ml/1.3 fl oz) feels too oily/slick in comparison. Does it work to moisturize? Yes. Is it worth the price tag? Unfortunately not. I will probably go back to using Cetaphil moisturizer that I can buy for a fraction of the price. Avene - please bring back the exact recipe for Tolerance Extreme Creme. ... MoreI am so disappointed. I am acne-prone and my dermatologist has me on a benzoyl peroxide/clindamycin topical in the morning and a tretinoin topical at night. This combination (particularly in the mornings) can cause a lot of stinging, burning, itching, and discomfort after cleansing and applying the topical, and that's before I apply my moisturizer. Moisturizers have traditionally amplified these sensations and it can be so bad that I will avoid my routine for a few days, which exacerbates my acne. It's very gentle and has no perceivable fragrance, so it just nourishes the skin without irritating it. It also doesn't irritate the eyes!! I've got really sensitive eyes, and I can actually use this cream to moisturize the undereyes and eyelids with no burning or irritation. With other creams (and I mean other good quality, expensive creams), if I get them anywhere near my eyes, my eyelids start to feel heavy, and I start feeling sleepy and having a bad headache. They basically don't soak in entirely, so they leave this thin film on your skin that later starts peeling. This cream does not have that issue at all. Lastly, the cream does not react with make-up (as some creams do). So, all in all, this is the perfect moisturizer. I can't say if you'll feel the same way, since everyone's skin is different, but if you have dry sensitive skin like me, I predict you'll be very happy with this product. By the way, it's the same cream as the rich compensating cream that used to come in the short and wide glass container (packaged in a small square box).

This balm has been excellent, better than any moisturizer I've tried since my skin has been this reactive and dry. I'm really taken aback at how this makes my dryest flaky patches look like normal skin. Goes well underneath makeup as well. If I feel dry throughout the day, I put this on and my skin feels and looks refreshed. I also like to use it when I have an itchy flare or hive, and it seems to calm it down. The texture is like a rich moisturizer, not greasy feeling like vaseline but it leaves a lovely protective barrier. I live in a dry climate, so I sometimes add something more ...
