While the sterilizer works well also with bottles from other brands, a flat surface would have been much better! Also, the tongs are totally useless, they are small and I was never able to use them efficiently to really grab anythingOverall, I like the Philips Avent Microwave Steam sterilizer much better than the one I own. It is sturdy, the color is nice and the locking system is great, even if I would have preferred a design allowing a higher versatility when mixing and matching with bottles of other brands.

It is easy to use and easy to clean.I did however have to purchase a bigger microwave which wasn't a problem as I needed a bigger one anyway but be aware that if you have a tiny one like I did it won't fit.The steriliser comes in a box with instructions and a tounge which you use to take the hot equipment out of the steriliser once it's finished.It's compatible with both the natural and classic bottles and with the Avent breast pumps (it will fit up to 4 bottles and 2 breast pumps!)Easy to use and quick and within 2-6 minutes in the microwave and your babies things are sterile up to 24 hours.This item has really helped me to ... Modern appliances should be fine but my parents' old fashioned microwave was too small.Luckily ours was ok.You will need to make sure that your microwave is clean before use. Which OK I get that it's an Avent product, but my other branded model is compatible with any type of bottle, so I could easily alternate between a couple of different cups and bottles we have in the house without needing to worry about whether they'd fit in the steriliser. With this model, of the four different non-Avent bottles I have at home, only one style fit inside well - All others were either too tall or they fell over when trying to move it to the microwave as they don't balance well inside the unit. There is a small circle lip meant for the bottles to sit in, which allows Avent bottles to be supported standing up - But non-Avent models are either too big or too small for this lip, and therefore are unbalanced whilst inside the unit. This meant that I could only sterilise two or three bottles at a time. Whereas my electric model could sterilise 6 bottles plus additional bits such as dummies and medicine spoons.Finally, I found that whilst the unit fit fine in my family sized microwave, it did not fit in my parents smaller microwave. And therefore couldn't be used. So you do need to have a large microwave in order to fit this in due to the height.In summary, a good model for everyday use. Easy to clean, and great for travelling. But possibly not suitable if you're using non-Avent bottles, or have a small microwave at home.

It even comes with a plastic tweezer like piece, so you can pick up hot pieces out of it.The box says that it holds four bottles. They are referring to the smaller five ounce bottles. The Avent steam steriliser has a larger capacity than my previous microwave steriliser, allowing me to sterilise my breast pump and babies bottles in one go, it's also faster and safer too.The locking clips on the side ensure the lid cant be knocked off, so no burnt fingers when taking it out of the microwave.The contents remain sterile for 24 hours if the lid remains closed which is great. It makes life that bit easier knowing I can just grab this out of the microwave and have everything ready for when I need it, especially when staying away from home overnight.Quick and easy to use, I'll definitely be recommending this product to my other mummy friends.A great product.Thanks Philips.
I was excited about this but I hardly use it now. Its so big and bulky and only fits Avent bottles. I have used other bottles but they tend to fall over if they don't fit the spaces for the avent bottles. Also, after using, the bottles stay wet so I have to dry them anyway. Might as well just handwash them all. Pretty bummed.
I love the fact that this steriliser uses steam as it feels much kinder to baby, not using chemicals to sterlise bottles and dummies. It's very quick, taking just 4 minutes in our 850W microwave to sterilise everything and can hold up to 4 Avent bottles or similar at once. It also keeps everything sterile for up to 24 hours.Being BPA free is another positive and it comes with a pair of tongs so you don't contaminate anything when emptying it.The lid is tall enough to fit full sized bottles and the clips that hold it on are strong, which is great when you're dealing with steam.It's very easy to clean and has different sections in the basket for different bottle parts. A great buy!
