After trying several types of bottles, we are almost exclusively using Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle. I like these because they are reasonably priced, easy to find compatible nipples, are dishwasher safe (though we are currently only hand washing), and above all - they are compatible with my Hygeia Enjoye pump - without an adapter! This kit was great because it included several 4oz and 8oz bottles along with compatible storage lids, size 1 and size 2 nipples, and pacifiers with the same shape as the nipples, which reduces bottle confusion. My baby is almost 4 months old, and up until a week ago, she was very opposed to bottles. We are still exclusively giving her breast milk, but now that I'm back to work, we are giving her a lot more pumped milk via the bottle. It was a struggle, but we made sure to offer the bottle at least 2 times a day, and now she's gotten the hang of it, she will take these bottles usually without a fuss. I also haven't seen many issues with gas especially since we do our best to ensure the nipple is always full of milk and therefore reducing the chance of our baby taking in extra air.We started out with the slow flow nipple, which was a great start going from almost exclusively feeding from the breast. Once she got familiar with taking bottles, we quickly advanced from size 1 on to size 2. Size 2 seems to flow pretty well for her now. If she's really hungry/eager to eat, she can actually suck so hard that the nipple separates from the bottle top and the seal is broken, but I think that can happen with a lot of bottles.I would recommend these bottles as a cost-effective option to parents. If you're pumping, it's great having a bottle that works with your pump with as few extra parts as possible. I will say that these bottles don't screw onto my pump as well as the bottles that came with my pump, but I prefer these bottles because they work as pump bottles and storage bottles as well as ones that you can feed your baby with. They are also relatively easy to clean since they don't have extra little pieces like other bottles. We're currently only using the 4 oz bottles to feed her and the 8 oz bottles for storing milk, but we will probably start feeding her more milk per feeding soon. Then we'll use the 8 oz bottles for feeding too.I received the product as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel in exchange for an honest review.

I was given these bottles to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel and we have loved them! We are first time parents and, thus, have been experimenting with various products to discover what we like best and what seems best for our baby. Our baby is almost three months old. Within the past month we learned that she has acid reflux and allergies so feeding times were often very stressful, as they included fussing and figuring out what would make our baby most happy and comfortable. Our baby seemed to take to these bottles immediately. The wider shape of the top allowed her to easily latch and the soft breast-like feel of the nipple made her latch seem more comfortable and natural. One concern we had as parents was that, despite using the nipple flow specific to her age, she seemed to be able to drink from the bottles very quickly. Occasionally this seemed to trigger her acid reflux and other times it didn't. However, I believe our baby liked the ease and steadiness of the flow she was able to receive from these bottles because she sometimes appears frustrated if the flow seems too slow.

Philips Avent Natural Baby BottleI typically breastfeed my baby, but there are times when giving him a bottle of breast milk is more convenient. (i.e. in a checkout line, when he’s with Dad and not me, when grandparents just want the pleasure of feeding him, etc.). Because he doesn’t often get a bottle, it is important that the bottle we use is easy for him take. We have typically used another popular bottle, but thanks to the wee Spring Parent Panel we were able to try the Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle. With our old bottle, it would typically take him a couple minutes to get used to the bottle and really start feeding and then there were always several pauses and “unlatchings” during those feedings. With the Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle he immediately latched on and fed continuously until the bottle was empty! It appeared as though the wide (1-1/2” diameter) nipple base of the Philips bottle was soft against his lips and looked more like he was nursing from my breast so I assume it felt more like that as well. With other bottles the nipples are typically only 1” diameter and are surrounded by a hard plastic cap that rubs against baby’s lips or nose, nothing like a real breast! The Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle were easy to assemble and use with just four total pieces (protective cap, nipple, collar that surrounds nipple and the actual bottle). There’s no way you could forget a part when you are in a rush! (Yes, it’s possible with others…I forgot to pack the “core” of our old bottle once and it did not work very well without it!) The only thing I found I had to pay attention to was how the nipple was inserted into the collar that screws onto the bottle. There is a small “vent” at the edge of the nipple and an indentation on the rim of the collar. If these two are aligned when inserted, you can make sure that the “vent” is always at the top of the bottle when baby is feeding and there are zero leaks. It works if the “vent” and indentation are not aligned, but it sometimes leaks a bit if the “vent” is not at the top of the bottle during a feeding. With just four total parts and the short height (3”) and wide diameter (almost 3”) of the bottle it can be cleaned with a sponge or bottle washer, but no little pipe cleaners or other special pieces are needed. This makes it especially useful if you find yourself needing to clean the bottle somewhere other than your home.My baby does not have colic, so I’m not sure if the anti-colic vent worked specific to that, but it definitely didn’t cause any issues. The anti-colic vent is discreetly designed into the nipple, so there are no additional odd parts to assemble and wash. The ergonomic design of the bottle made it easy to hold for both me and my four month old. The bottle is nearly 3” in diameter and 3” tall (not included the collar and nipple) with indentations in the sides for easy gripping. When feeding, I could hold the end of the bottle instead of wrapping my hand around it, which ended up giving me more control and was more comfortable than using a typical bottle. The shape also allowed my baby to hold it and virtually feed himself for brief moments! There were only two things that bothered me about this bottle, and both are minor issues. First, the short fat shape of the bottle wouldn’t fit in the interior bottle pocket of my diaper bag (a Skip Hop Messenger Bag). It will fit in the exterior bottle pocket, so it was a minor compromise. Secondly, the protective cap on the bottle was difficult to remove. It definitely requires two hands to remove (with our old bottle I could hold it with one hand and push cap off with my thumb while my other arm and hand held my baby). The Philips cap is very wide and almost a perfect dome shape with one small indentation. It definitely took some getting used to and I still find it difficult to remove if my hands are at all damp (like they typically are after washing my hands). I couldn’t find a real solution to this, but in the future they can incorporate a small tab on the cap edge so it is easier to pop off.Overall the Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle is great! Thanks to the wee Spring Parent Panel for giving me the opportunity to try it.

When I had my twins I had all intention of breastfeeding. I was prepared read the books, had the tools and since breastfeeding didn’t work out with my 2 year old I was determined to breastfeed these new babies! Well reality came into play pretty quick and once again I was not able to produce enough for one let alone two hungry babies so I ended up having to supplement before we left the hospital. When we got home I had saved my bottles from my son and just planned to use them since they were there and it was one less thing we had to worry about buying. Well reality came into play pretty quick and once again I was not able to produce enough for one let alone two hungry babies so I ended up having to supplement before we left the hospital. When we got home I had saved my bottles from my son and just planned to use them since they were there and it was one less thing we had to worry about buying. Well they seemed to be ok but my daughter ended up having a severe lip and tounge tie which made sucking difficult however she was able to latch great to my breast, even after she got her lip and tounge tie corrected she still was having difficulty. Over the months she was gassy because she didn’t latch properly and it made her very cranky. So now comes into play the Avent Bottles. Thabks to the WeeSpring Parent Panel which sent us the bottles and nipples to try out. Here is what we concluded from our trial. For my daughter they were amazing for her to latch onto as well my son latched with much ease so that was the first thing and it was great! The shape of the Avent nipples are so extremely close to the shape of your breast so it makes for some familiarity, also the actual shape of the bottle is so comfortable to hold it’s not uncomfortable at all the only problem was when there was a little milk left and I had to tilt it back really far which made my daughter not so happy, my son didn’t seem to mind. Next the anti colic vent. This was the part I was hopeful about but was a bit disappointed (and maybe I just have really gassy babies) but this I didn’t see much improvement in. My daughter was the same and my son seemed to be much worse with gas and in the middle of the night as well. They are 3 months old and sleep thru the night and he was waking up with a lot of trapped gas. The thing that I love about the bottle is the fact that it’s so easy to assemble and clean. The parts are great and you can put a bottle together with one hand if need be. I don’t have to clean or assemble a million parts. I love that and made my life so much easier. All in all I would say the bottle is great for kids that aren’t sensitive to extra air they may swallow which would cause them more gas, I plan on trying to switch them completely over to these bottles as they grow out of the gassy stage of being 3 months old. Thanks again to weeSpring Parent Panel for sending these gems along!

The wider shape of the top allowed her to easily latch and the soft breast-like feel of the nipple made her latch seem more comfortable and natural. Our baby seemed to fuss far less when using these bottles and, thus, we assume that the anti-colic vent was very helpful to her. One concern we had as parents was that, despite using the nipple flow specific to her age, she seemed to be able to drink from the bottles very quickly. Occasionally this seemed to trigger her acid reflux and other times it didn't. However, I believe our baby liked the ease and steadiness of the flow she was able to receive from these bottles because she sometimes appears frustrated if the flow seems too slow.As far as the functionality of the bottles, we loved the shape, as they fit more easily in our hands, which made them easier and more comfortable to hold. My husband prefers the 9 oz bottles because they fit his bigger hands better and he occasionally likes to prop the bottles while feeding. I tended to prefer the smaller 4 oz bottles because they fit my hands better and we noticed that our baby seemed to feed easier off the bottles where the milk did not have to travel as far to get to the nipple. However, the larger sized bottles are convenient for our baby specifically now, as she typically takes in more than 4 oz at a time when bottle feeding. These bottles are very easy to assemble--the wider tops seem easier to fit into place on the bottle. The wider-shaped bottles do not fit as easily in the pockets in our diaper bag and take up more space in our cupboards than other bottles but the pros we have noticed in using them have led us to make the space for them, as they result in far less stress during feeding.
Do not line up the colic valve with the indent on the collar (despite what manufacturer says). The rib on the underside of the teat that touches the collar, if it’s in the indent it doesn’t let air come in the bottle (teat collapses) while milk is coming out as it makes too good of a seal. You need to make it not line up so there is a small separation from the teat and collar for air to escape. Also make sure you get something clean to poke through colic valve on the teat as it sometimes stays sealed from cleaning. If it’s not separated properly (water drying can cause it to seal) valve doesn’t work and teat can collapse. If you follow these two solutions it works great. Also feed with colic valve facing up.
My little one has been exclusively breast fed since birth, with only the occasional need for a bottle if I had plans that would keep me away from him for more than a couple of hours. In the beginning, we struggled to find a bottle that he really seemed to like. Some of them he would flat out refuse and others seemed to just let the milk run out of his mouth as he was trying to drink. Any pumping mama will tell you that is not something you want to see! As he approached 6 months, I wanted the flexibility of offering (or having someone else offer) him a bottle a little more frequently, meaning we really needed to find a bottle that he would take. I was cautiously optimistic about the Philips Avent Natural bottle...optimistic because the wide nipple base more closely resembled a breast than some other bottles we had tried, and cautious because we had been down this path before. We decided to have my husband be the one to offer him the bottle the first time, and it turned out to be a total success! Our little guy happily guzzled down almost 4 ounces with no problem. Cue the happy dance! We think the wide base of the nipple had a lot to do with him accepting it so easily...you could see his lips flanged out around the top and bottom of the nipple the same way that they do at the breast, and I think the flexible nipple tip probably felt a lot more familiar to him as well. We had previously tried a different brand of bottle marketed as being designed to mimic the breast, but struggled with the nipple collapsing as the baby would suck. Very happy to report that we did not have that issue with the Philips Avent Natural bottles! While we've been lucky to not experience much colic with our son, we are always careful to stop and try to burp him pretty frequently to try and avoid any trapped gas. We've noticed while feeding with these bottles that he very rarely burps during or after his feed, leading us to believe that the anti-colic valves must be doing a good job of keeping any air from getting into his belly. Obviously the most important factor when choosing a bottle is how your baby likes and reacts to it, but I think it is definitely worth mentioning that both my husband and I love how comfortable these bottles are to hold, and also how easy they are to clean and assemble! The last thing you want to do when you have a hungry baby is worry about getting multiple pieces of a bottle assembled correctly while you're hurrying to get them fed, and parents have enough to do without worrying about washing tons of bottle parts after each feeding. I am so thankful to weeSpring Parent Panel for sending us this bottle to try and review, and I would absolutely recommend these bottles, especially for parents that do a combination of breast and bottle feeding!
I was given the Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle and Philips Avent Natural First Flow Nipple to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. As a mother of three I am constantly looking for the best, reliable, durable and safest products for myself and children. In my household we have a 4year old, 3year old and now almost 3 month old. I started off breastfeeding my son and needed to transition him into taking a bottle while I was at work. Surprisingly, he took the bottle like a champ (unlike my two oldest children who suffered from acid reflux). We tried two different nipple sizes that were both easy to latch onto; newborn and the slow flow nipple. The slow flow nipple allowed him to drink his milk at a controllable pace that satisfied him without causing stomach ... Surprisingly, he took the bottle like a champ (unlike my two oldest children who suffered from acid reflux). We tried two different nipple sizes that were both easy to latch onto; newborn and the slow flow nipple. The slow flow nipple allowed him to drink his milk at a controllable pace that satisfied him without causing stomach issues. After testing each nipple size, he was more comfortable with the pace of the slow flow nipple. Having two children who suffered from acid reflux and constantly in discomfort after a feeding it was important to find the right bottle that would help eliminate discomfort. The Philips Avent Natural Baby bottle has an Airflex vent technology that is integrated into the nipple that helps reduce colic and discomfort. My son is becoming very interested in grabbing and holding onto objects including his bottles. The Philip Avent Natural Baby Bottle slight curvy ergonomic shape makes it very easy for his tiny hands to grab/hold. I also find the shape easy and comfortable to hold unlike Dr. Brown's bottles that are straight and narrow. Also, these bottles have a few pieces that make it quick and easy to assemble. I would highly recommended both the Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle and Philips Avent Natural First Flow Nipple to my friends, family and any current or parent to be. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with these products.
I purchased Philip’s Avent 4oz. bottles when my baby was just a newborn. My whole life, everyone around me has always used these bottles for their babies. We’re talking cousins, nieces, and even many babies at my church have used these bottles. So when I started using these bottles for my baby just a few months ago, I was impressed. My baby received a Soothie pacifier from the hospital when she was born and it’s the only pacifier she will take. So these bottles were a must when it came to feeding time.To make it even better, the parts are easy to put together and take apart, which is crucial because I’m constantly cleaning bottles. They’re also super easy to clean. Everything comes apart easily with just four pieces (the cap, nipple, neck, and bottle). To top that off, they’re also dishwasher safe. I just pop the nipples and bottle necks into a dishwasher bottle basket before starting the wash. In the next few months I’ll be buying the toddler bottles! :)
I have been trying lots of bottles with my twin boys, and wanted something that didn't make them gassy and didn't have a ton of parts to clean (since we have twice as many bottles to use and clean!) I tried many popular, name brand bottles and while one of my boys took almost everything we tried, my other one was much pickier and seemed to get gassy and fussy after most bottle feedings. I received this product as part of the wee spring parent panel and am so grateful as it is now our favorite bottle and nipple to use for both of my twins.Pros: the bottle has minimal parts - only 4 (including the cap) which makes it easy to clean and assemble quickly - super important for twins! The natural nipple seems to mimic breastfeeding which is important to me as an exclusively breastfeeding mom. I want (and need!) my babies to take bottles, but don't want them to refuse the breast in favor of a bottle. This nipple seems to do the trick, and the anti-colic valve seems to really work since neither of my boys seem to have issues after eating. The shape is easy for us to hold while feeding and I like that the wider nipple is more similar to mom's.Cons: the small, 4 oz bottle is easy to hold for feedings, but is pretty short and stubby - making it hard to get out of our bottle warmer without pulling it out by the nipple. The bottle parts also get very warm when in the warmer - the milk doesn't - just the bottle parts. The thing that I really dislike about the bottle, however, is the cap. It is SO HARD to get off of the bottle. There is a really strong seal / suction, which is a good thing so as not to leak, but I hate pulling the lid off and struggle each time. There is one indent on the cap that I imagine is supposed to help, but maybe two would be better to allow leverage to take off the cap. This is a big design flaw, in my opinion, since struggling to open a bottle shouldn't be the thing that gets in between a hungry, crying baby and their meal.Overall, I am really happy with the natural flow nipple on the bottle and will be purchasing more of the larger size bottle for my boys to use when they start daycare. And while there are a few design flaws that could make the bottles easier and more pleasant for parents to use, the most important part is that the bottle anti-colic nipple work well without lots of extra parts to clean.
