When Don Facundo, Founder of Bacardi, arrived in Cuba from Spain, rum was made cheaply and was not considered a particularly refined drink. Accordingly, he sought to completely titivate the reputation of the spirit. In an attempt to tame rum, Facundo filtered the rum twice through charcoal, removing the impurities, and mellowed the rum through ageing in oak barrels. Tasting Note: Dry and smooth.
