In the past few years I have had 2 standard edition controllers and one ps edition controller. What I can say is they are ok at best, storming the market with a product that looked finished but not polished. I brought 3 at once hesitantly being a new product and to be completely honest a reputable opposition had theirs available aswell. I choose backbone for price, the problems started there. Firstly upon connecting to the app. I was charged twice for a yearly sub on 2 different dates in the same month for the exact same account and backbone support did nothing about it, secondly false security on the quality of the controller since getting stick drift within a week of using the first controller, applied for a warranty with no confirmation of warranty in return. I was lucky to get 2 months from this controller which all the L and R buttons failed on, at this point I had been let down too many times already. Point being I have third party controllers with phone mounts that are nearly 5 years old still working after what one could say is being rough on the controller. I’m not saying the controller is a bad product but the finished product could be so much better.

Probably the coolest iPhone accessory I’ve ever owned. It works with almost every app that has controller support. The app is great, it acts as a game hub kind of like a PlayStation 5 home page. I love that I can use it as a controller for my pc, or my friends console as well. I also wish you could program one of the buttons to be a dedicated home button, at the moment all you can do is hold the Backbone button to “tap” the home button on PlayStation which removes half of the functionality of the PlayStation UI.The triggers are too small and short, so games like Spider-Man 2 that have puzzles where you have to be precise with the triggers are made extremely difficult.Although these criticisms seem like a deal breaker, it does NOT put me off from using the controller at all. The functionality is where it truly shines. It’s compatible with pretty much every mobile game I’ve played and is especially a blessing when using Delta Emulator to play classic games like Mario 64 or Banjo-Kazooie, where touch screen controls bog any experience you may have.

I bought 4 backbone yet. In the past was cool because you could have a Xbox pass for 1 year included in the price. Also they were very careful with phone upgrades sending by themself adaptator. It changed a bit since.However the product never disappointed me. Which brang me to motivate 6 others friends of mine to buy one.The product is solid, working and brings such confort in moment off. It literally transform your phone in the ultime playing device you need.Just sad they don’t have a program for people who speak about the brand. I deeply believe this product will keep long. Pros:- Spring in hinge is strong enough, your device fits securely.- Works with most cases. Controller comes with an extra long USB c male port so most cases (I have a Mous brand) work just fine without removing it. If you have an extra beefy case your mileage may vary. There are removable plastic blocks to adjust the length of the usb c connection so it sits securely with or without the case.- Pass through charging to allow play while plugged in.- Fits comfortably in most hands (mine lol). Your mileage may vary if you have ogre hands.- Lots of extra features. I won't go through all of them as backbone clearly explains them in the marketing material. If you like to stream, share, record etc this is great. No latency, no lost connections. Depends on the controller but in the past I've had issues with cheap Bluetooth controllers.CONS:- Not quite as substantially constructed as I expected for a $100.- The joysticks are 100% acceptable for me in a mobile experience but they're obviously not Xbox/playstation high end.- No Bluetooth. If you want to use it with your iPad you'll need to plug it into the usb c and use a dock of some sort to charge simultaneously. It's the nature of a device with no battery if its own.- Didn't come with a case and you're going to want one. The flat part where the spring expansion happens seems flimsy. If you throw it in your backpack by itself I think there's a risk of breaking it when it bangs around in there. Conveniently backbone will sell you an excellent case.... For $25 ouch.Nothing is perfect but as of now this is the best solution. (I'm not sure how many chintzy controllers I've attempted to use with my phone and iPad.) I've mostly been imaging resident evil village on iPhone 15 pro and the experience is top notch. As more AAA type stuff comes to the more powerful phones something like this is going to become a must have device. iPhone already has a couple of these games and the soon to be released next gen snapdragon android chips will see the same thing happening on that platform.5 stars.. could it be a better with build quality.. sure but as of right now this is far and away the one to have.

I have big hands and at no point have they felt cramped. My phone fits great with a case on it. The main issue I am having is the sticks and the 4 face buttons. Since the buttons are on really clicky switches, sometimes I have noticed that when pressing the buttons during a game they don't register. The thumb sticks are the biggest problem, they are very small and the travel is very very short. No. It's just THE feature Backbone knew would be needed enough that it might force people to pay. Sorry Backbone but I don't take kindly to being strong-armed into useless subscriptions. My iPhone is basically a console now, and I can't believe how good it works.I had tried the 1st generation Backbone, and this updated version pretty much improved on most of what I believed were the biggest issues that made me return it. It fits in it PERFECTLY and sits in my little bag and STILL takes up LESS SPACE than my ps controller does (without the case) I absolutely LOVE it! Definitely worth the buy!! I’m currently talking friends into getting it too lol cause we ALL game together so I know for a fact they’ll fall in love with it too lol oh also (wait THERES MORE) they come with detachable pieces that can help your phone fit in the controller more snug with or with the phone case on!! If you are on the fence about buying it, do it! (Just thank me later lol)
