Great product at a very reasonable price. Bought to replace old combined square that had become a bit ‘wobbly’. The Bahco one is true to square and measurement markings easy to read. Very pleased.

Already have the smaller version of this square but got this one for larger jobs. I like these as they are made very well with no slop when tightened down, super accurate too for measuring out and doing repetitive marking. Worth spending a wee bit more for the quality if you use them a lot.

Made of incredibly durable machined metal and its bubble eye is very well installed. However, and this is big however, the tool is simply not square. I purchased one after using a fellow carpenter's 18 inch model. I decided to grab myself the 12 inch version as i simply wouldn't ever require that size in my work. However after a few hours of using it to set edge lines and cutting lines, I realised my cuts weren't fitting snug against perpendicular joints. I thought maybe my specific square had a fault, however after asking my work buddy to test his 450mm model, I found out his was also off-square. I generally hold Bahco's tools in high regard, nearly up there with most Fatmax tools, however after seeing how off-set this tool is, I can't trust another one of their ... MoreMade of incredibly durable machined metal and its bubble eye is very well installed. On the 300 mm version I bout it was of square by 3mm from top to bottom. On the 450mm version it was off by 4-5mm. Just letting you fellow tradesmen know.

Some other reviewers had mentioned this combination square as being not 90 degrees, but my example is spot on. It’s got a bit of weight to it, unlike cheaper squares, and the finish is good. I’ll be on the lookout for other Bahco products.
Bahco quality, well made, strong and functional.anThere is no end for the uses of this tool. Square and level yes but also a depth gauge, marking gauge for marking out long lines, boarders and of course a ruler
Bahco used to mean something and stand for quality. Made in Sweden to high standards. The the outsorced to Portugal (and other countries) and the steel/hardening went down the drain. Bahco used to last forever, now all of a sudden pliers start to snap due to poor forging and hardening.I did order three of the squares though, thinking they would be alright and serve the purpose, which they do, in a pinch. The 150mm are true and the 400mm one is "within tolerances" for general carpentry but the finish? Remarkably poor. Made in China can stand for top notch quality nowadays but unfortunately these square are remarkably roughly finished. The handle has very rough edges on one side and sharp edges on the other side. As an earlier reviewer noted: the ruler ends are rough and worked over so the ruler doesn't really start at zero which means that you can only use it to direct transfer/marking measure for fine carpentry/metal work and not as a true depth gauge.Bahco is losing ground here in Sweden - where it once originated from and one generation from now they will no longer be remembered as a serious tool manufacturer which is really sad.Buy Veritas or Starrett instead if you want a really nice square and don't need the spirit level.
I use this store quite often. There is another rival company nearby but l find this store better. Staff are friendly and there is good parking. Hamish
I purchased the 6" and 12" versions and found both to be rather crudely finished. It's strange that a company once synonymous with quality tools allows such roughly presented items to bear their brand marking. I spent time with a needle file and some emery cloth to make these items useable, but it greatly disappointed me to find both were out of square, let alone the really awful feel in the hand. I have a Starrett equivalent to the 12"/300mm item, and while I appreciate that these are significantly lower priced items, they should at least meet a minimum standard for accuracy. With respect to anyone else posting positive comments, I think it's a case of not having prior experience using a high quality combination square that prevents them from identifying the ... MoreI purchased the 6" and 12" versions and found both to be rather crudely finished. With respect to anyone else posting positive comments, I think it's a case of not having prior experience using a high quality combination square that prevents them from identifying the shortcomings of these particular Bahco products. I would not purchase them again, nor could I recommend them to someone, even if they're shopping on a budget. Tools like this should be accurate out of the box and just a short time in a burnisher as part of the manufacturing process could have greatly improved the ergonomics at minimal cost. A shame. It's yet another nail in the Bahco coffin as far as I'm concerned.
A very good replacement square for my 30+ year old set. Accurate, square and very clear markings on the rule. The only 'But' is in the materials. The body of the square is pot metal zinc alloy as are all budget models whereas the description says - body . steel. The thickness of the casting is 4 mm and I am sure that it is fit for purpose. I hope trading standards don't do an audit on your catalogue. The knurled locking nut is aluminium , not sure how durable that would be on a zinc plated steel screw if kept in damp conditions, i.e. the back of a tradesman's van. Seems a pity for the sake of a few coppers.
Ordered this Bahco 12" combi square online and picked it up the following day.Returned it the next day as it wasnt square.Bought a DeWalt 7" rafter square that was square. (Checked it at the counter)I wanted to exchange the Bahco square for another but they didnt have any in stock ... BUT ... just before i wrote this review i checked online (for spelling) and now the branch has 1 in stock. Could this be the not so square square that i returned about one hour previously ?I hope not but in future i will definitely be checking all purchaces no matter what it is !!!
