Bandai 1/100 MG Freedom Gundam Ver.2.0
The original Freedom was starting to show its age, but this release aims to revamp everything about it! Improved proportions, flexibility, and detail will make it worth revisiting this design! Beam Sabers, Beam Rifle, Shield, and Railguns are all included! Mobile Suit Gundam SEED's Freedom Gundam sets a new high mark in it's evolution with its 2.0 version! Both frame and armor are completely resculpted with revised proportions! It's also packed with extra details from the SEED Ver. RM series. With extending elbows, sliding thigh armour, and a flexible waist, it's perfectly suited to strike heroic poses! Its wing and beam cannons flex for full burst mode, as well. A full arsenal includes linkable beam sabers, and other accessories include a stand and a variety of manipulator parts.

Ive seen MG Wing Zero, MG Nu Gundam, MG Strike Freedom, etc, and every time Im more impressed with the 2.0 Freedoms presence. It strikes the perfect balance between build quality, articulation, and aesthetics. A timeless design. There arent many kits that can match this models shelf presence. Im not a fan of Kira but the Freedom is one of the most powerful and beautiful mobile suits in the verse.

This was a highly anticipated release for me; a fresh re-design of a fan favorite with a kit that is almost entirely original. A lot of Master Grades suffer from mold recycling but the last few releases have been really good about this. This year has been quantity over quality so far. I'm pretty sure only the beam saber effect parts are reused on this kit. Everything else is brand new, and it feels new.The inner frame abandons form in favor of function; it looks good enough, but most of it gets covered up and stays that way. There's less sliding armor gimmicks on this kit than you'd be used to, but instead we get some nice peek through parts that are nicely detailed and show through the armor at all times, plus the areas around the joints that naturally get ... MoreThis was a highly anticipated release for me; a fresh re-design of a fan favorite with a kit that is almost entirely original. There's less sliding armor gimmicks on this kit than you'd be used to, but instead we get some nice peek through parts that are nicely detailed and show through the armor at all times, plus the areas around the joints that naturally get exposed as they bend. The kit is really solid and thanks to newly engineered shoulder and thigh joints, you get all kinds of articulation in spite of the armor that gets layered on top. In short, it's a posing monster and it's easy to work with. The external armor is the real focus of the aesthetics and the changes made to the design are something you'll either love or hate, but personally I like the additional panel lining, sharper edges, and overall more slender proportions. It's still undeniably the Freedom, but it looks more intimidating. The weapons are redesigned too with the plasma cannons gaining a ton of new details that are a little excessive, but mostly optional. You can choose to open the panels and extend them, or not, but if you do, the insides need painting for color accuracy. Otherwise this kit actually looks really good as a straight build; even the chest vulcans are separate pieces. The only stickers you need for accuracy are the eyes and various camera sensors. This kit can stand, but it's a bit dicey, so a minimalist action stand is included with an adapter to connect it to the backpack, and that will get the job done. Same adapter can be used with an action base 1 which is still the preferred mounting method. Also included are multiple hand options; these are the ones with detachable fingers, with weapon holding tabs that lock in from the front. I don't like the front tabs as much as the side ones, but they work here. Double ball jointed wrist with a nice locking mechanism keeps everything tight and movable at the same time. The added joint mechanisms and modern part separation make this a fun build, although you'll need to be careful attaching the legs with the now fully movable hip joints. Can't use as much force as you're used to. Otherwise it's an easy but refreshing build. This kit pretty much obliterates the 1.0 unless you are stuck on the old aesthetic. In all other regards it's superior and worth owning just for the experience, but it's even more of a must buy if you are a fan of the design.
