Astonishing sound from such a small unit. Voices project well and simply float in the air whilst bass is tight and extended producing notes well below what you might expect from such a small unit. Sound quality can be significantly changed and I believe improved by resting the speaker on a simple plate display stand so the speaker is sitting almost upright. Although sounding more conventional when positioned this way, the sound is quite markedly improved and the quality of reproduction more enjoyable. This is really a beautiful sounding little speaker. I've also purchased a good leather carry case from eBay for just a few pounds so the speaker can be safely taken with us on holiday! This quality of sound can't be left at home!

My B&O speaker was a little over two years old (warranted by John Lewis for 24 months) so outside the cover period. It was used for parties and summer bbqs always in a separate protective case but needed to be charged all the time. The charging port stopped working and calls to John Lewis, B&O UK and specialist repairers all said its scrap buy a new or refurbished replacement. For 200 I would expect this speaker to last longer so do not recommend it and find other owners on YouTube are of the same opinion. The UK B&O support team were less than useless and offered ridiculous 'hacks' to get it working. Save your money and go to BOSE for quality control.

Purchased brand new and sealed 80GBP. For the price the device is great. Very well built to a high standard and all in all a luxurious item. Fairly heavy so not sure if one would want to lug it around all day but once placed is a delight to use. Sound quality to amongst the best with crisp and sparkley treble. Very well defined and controlled bass. Sublime midrange and makes listening to music and watching footage a joy. Volume on you tube was exceptional but not so grand with my music files on my device. Battery life is very long and will easily last the day. For any price under 120gbp this is fantastic. I fou

The sound range on high and low are great and project with clarity when amplified. There are still many features of this that I am yet to use though. A downside is that I am not sure the battery life lasts as well as it describes, or, it doesn't hold charge for as considerably long when on its loud setting; would be good to know how long it is supposed to last at its loudest. Not 100% on battery charge retention as I am sure I charged it 100% the other day and, without prior use, the following day when I went to use it, it was reportedly only 60% charged. I've given this speaker a solid 8 months of testing in all kinds of environments. Battery life at a moderate volume is fantastic. At max volume there is no distortion and this little speaker puts out some admirable sound, however the battery life drops to a little over 2 hours. It is definitely splash resistant. USB C is great to see and works flawlessly as an external speaker when connect to my laptop over USB C (which is 1000x better than the laptops built in speakers). I wish I had another one of these to put in stereo mode (via the B&O app). This is a permanent addition to my backpack for weekdays, weekends, and any adventure.
Amazing, rich sound from a speaker small enough to pop into my laptop bag. (4.8" in diameter, just 20 ounces.). It paired easily and stays paired to my devices. And the call quality is exquisite. B&O has designed a sort of wraparound microphone that gives great phone no matter which way the A1 is rotated. My only gripe? The control buttons are all recessed under a beautiful cover -- and the icons are the same color as the cover. Old farts beware: Seeing where to press is a challenge, although I'm learning it. A terrific product in a gorgeously designed package.
I have had this speaker now for 3 years and it is just fabulous and has given me lots of enjoyment & I would have highly recommended it. However, it is now not working as it won't hold the charge and just switches off. I would think the battery is at fault. On opening the inside it is very complex and not a simple task of removing the battery.B&O do not offer a repair service if it is out of warranty, nor will they supply parts for someone else to repair it. It seems if it is in warranty they will offer a replacement.Both I and a local repairer think this is shocking - the throw-away society? Please beware if you are thinking of purchasing one.
Good Points: The speaker is great with mid range and high notes.It was easy to set up and it feels sturdy.Improvement Points: It simply cannot handle decent bass. The case seems to resonate with bass and does not sound tuneful.I tried it in a variety of positions; flat on the carpeted floor, on a glass table, hanging by the carry handle, etc and the bass still sounded “off”.Regrettably I’m sending it back.
Superb sound, superb design, very convenient size.Unfortunately it stops every now and then, after 15-20 minutes or one hour, once even after 5 minutes. Would you buy a car that stops every 80 km, and have to restart it? I have returned the A1 to B&O and they immediately sent me another, saying that they have identified a defect covered by the warranty. The new model shows that same symptoms. I do believe that this is a general defect for the model A1. I doesn't want that they keep on sending me yet another faulty device. Very sad, as I don't know with what to replace it. My FIIO X5 and Sony radio don't have Bluetooth. So I need to connect with a cable.
