Love BarePro! I was an Aveda foundation customer for a decade and when they discontinued their foundation line, I panicked. This powder foundation is also a clean beauty product, vegan, fragrance-free and talc-free, which makes me more likely to buy it than other products that are not. The powder comes in a range of 35 difference shades, which is another reason I would be more likely to buy it. Overall, I enjoy the product and would recommend it to others looking for a full coverage powder foundation to use on its own

Second, the foundation oxidizes and turns orange after a few hours- which the previous formula did not do. Lastly, it is extremely flaky/powdery. It leaves a mess everywhere, which the old formula, again, did not do. I purchased the new formula 2 weeks ago as my last one finished, and I can already see the pan- plus it cracked since the new formula is so dry and messy. At 54, I still have oily skin ,large pores. This looks absolutely beautiful all day, very skin like. People were surprised I was wearing foundation at all, and I get so many compliments on how nice my skin is. I gave it 4 stars because it takes a few times to figure out how to use it on your skin type for your desired coverage, and there isnt that much product in the pan. I prefer light to medium coverage at most. I lightly moisturize and use oil control primer. I use a brush and gently swipe across the pan once andwork that into t zone. then swipe gently again half swipe for rest of face. If you want more coverage, you can use the sponge in compact to apply. For dry combo skin, my friend, also in her fifties, moisturize well, and With a damp a beauty blender gets ... MoreAt 54, I still have oily skin ,large pores. I love this! The new formulation is definitely better than the old one, and even better now that it no longer contains talc. It is very finely milled so be sure to dip your brush in softly. Coverage is light to medium, which is my preference, but this could easily be built up for those who need more. Staying power is excellent (I use setting powder and setting spray) and I don't find that this ever looks cakey or settles into fine lines. I don't like the included sponge, but I never use these. If you find a good color match, it looks very natural and beautiful on the skin. My shades are Light 25 Warm in the winter and Medium 30 Warm in the summer. For reference, I am Golden Medium 14 in the original loose bareMinerals foundation and NC 35/40 in MAC.
This new formula bears *NO* resemblance to the HOLY GRAIL product they had before that I used for many years. It was the ONLY foundation that didn't break out my sensitive, reactive skin, didn't settle into fine lines, and looked good all day with beautiful, soft, buildable coverage.This new formula is a cakey, powdery, mess that settles into lines and wrinkles (literally leaving bright, colored lines all over my face) in less than an hour, oxidizes in less than 2hrs into an awful orange color, and if you dare to try to build coverage, you end up with cakey, uneven blotches of color all over that gets worse as it oxidizes. It kicks up powder like crazy. If it doesn't immediately settle into your pores, it does this weird thing where the pigment kind balls up and you can see little tiny dots of pigment all over your face. It emphasizes texture. It clings to and emphasizes facial hair. If you're oily, your oil will eat right through this and it can't be blended back out-unlike the old one, which melted with my skin type gorgeously. This one just gets removed if you try to blend it back out throughout the day. Truly just a terrible reformulation, terrible product. I'm fully convinced that anyone that actually LIKES the new one, never once tried the old one.
First, I have used bare minerals powder foundation since it used to contain SPF. The reason I gave this new formula 4 stars is because when you use a brush to take the product, it does appear more chalky/flaky than the old formula. However, I applied it with the same old brush (not a bare minerals brush), same method, same everything, and had no problem with the application. I have not tried to use the sponge it comes with because I have personally never used the given sponge to apply powder foundation. The product applied the same on my face as the old foundation and was not chalky or cakey on my face at all. I also had no problem finding the correct color match when looking at the picture they provided. Note, I also have very oily skin throughout the day and honestly did not see any problem with this new formula as other people have. Do what is best for you and try it for yourself.
I have never tried previous formulations of this powder foundation, only the current formulation that is out now. I didn’t experience any issues with the product coming to me cracked or completely shattered at all. I also haven’t any experience any issues with this formulation being super fragile either. I do apply it with the sponge applicator, because I like to achieve more fuller coverage that way. However, for those that prefer lightweight coversge, definitely using a brush would be best to go with overall. Also, unless you have perfect or near perfect skin, you will need to apply concealer first and then apply this powder foundation over it. I’m regards to the shade I bought, which is Medium 30 Neutral, I must say, that for the 2nd lightest shade in the medium category, it does aloe sr a bit warmer and peachier than what is pictured here, but I am still able to get it to work for me. it is best to,wear this foundation. The shade range definitely could and better because the shades run darker than other powder foundations I have tried before. In regards to how well it wears, I typically apply it once during the day and don’t have to do any touchups. However, I don’t use any super emollient products underneath the foundation that would cause it to break down easily, crease and transfer badly. This foundation basically stays put on my face until I remove it at night. I do have dry skin, but I live in a climate that is hot and humid all year round. So, I figured that powder foundation would be a whole lot better to use on my face on a day- to-basis than liquid foundation. Plus, it is much quicker to apply for sure. Now, I do have very sensitive, dry/very, acne & eczema prone skin. This foundation does not make my eczema worse and it also does not make my dry skin worse either. It doesn’t break me out. In regards to it’s smell, it has an earthy smell, almost like I am smelling a hint of dirt to it. It does fade away over time. It is a decent buy overall, I must say.
