The scent of the other botanical ingredients didn’t come through the nose, which I did not find surprising considering they are competing against very aggressive scents. I have found most gins I have tasted to be unappealing to my pallet due to the juniper flavor coming through so assertively that it drowns out any other flavors, This has led me to have to question if I’m possibly drinking diluted pine sap and not a spirit rich with history and the star ingredient of one of the most classic and easily recognizable cocktails of all time. Upon tasting, Beefeater London Dry Gin is surprisingly smooth (much to my relief). The flavors of juniper and citrus definitely come through with hints of the other flavors. Compared with other gins, the flavors almost seem muted and probably too soft for anyone who is an avid fan of gin and it’s flavor. After trying it straight, I mixed myself a gin and tonic, martini and gimlet. All of the bar drinks I made really hit the spot, and when I served my cocktails to a few of my friends who were suspicious of gin, they surprised me by enjoying themselves and even asking for seconds.Beefeater London Dry Gin is a pleasant experience overall. Distinct gin flavor without being overpowering and mixes fantastic cocktails. If you are looking to stock your bar with a gin that is not only affordable in price and easily available at any retail store, but appealing to even those who historically have disliked gin, you can’t go wrong with Beefeater London Dry Gin.

Before dinner, Beefeaters Gin is the ideal libation, whether it's in a martini or simply on the rocks with a twist of lemon. Some gins contain a lot of botanicals, which give gin its distinctive flavor and make some gins taste almost like perfume. Some gins are essentially identical to vodka and contain relatively little juniper and other botanicals. I believe Beefeaters has the ideal blend and has been in business for 150 years. When you are bad, you don't last very long.
To each his own, but I felt compelled to respond to Byron's assessment. As traditional a London Dry gin as you'll find is Beefeater. It's smooth and juniper-forward. It blends incredibly nicely in traditional drinks like Martinis and Aviations, among others, yet it only costs $15 for 750 ml. Tanqueray is also extremely excellent, but Beefeater has a more nuanced flavor profile because it uses nine botanicals as opposed to Tanqueray's four. Although not all gins are made equal, up until this point I had never heard someone claim Beefeater was subpar. It is particularly called for in a few of the recipes in the PDT cocktail book, which should tell you something.
This spirit has been a staple of my bar for the better part of the last year. When I first started getting into gin, I grabbed this as one of the more recognizable bottles in my local (franchised) liquor store. Since trying it and employing it in several of my favorite cocktails, I have been impressed by its quality for its price point. A fantastic workhorse that everyone should try.

The Beefeater criticism, in my opinion, either be the result of the brand being such a staple (ubiquitous, always there), or the critics must be elitists who can only support "cutting edge" gins, which makes me giggle as I type it. Alternatively, it's possible that they smoke and have destroyed their taste buds, in which case they shouldn't be contributing their ideas. The flavor of the gin should ultimately influence your decisions. I implore you everyone to always compare Beefeater alongside G&Ts, Martinis, and cocktails with lemon or lime juice (basil tom collins, basil gin gimlet). You won't ever be let down by Beefeater and you'll always be surprised.
Beefeater and Noilly Pratt dry vermouth go well together in a martini, which I like. Before the ice dilutes the beverage, combine 3 shots of Beefeater and 1/2 shot of Noilly Pratt in a shaker with ice. Do not shake it. It will automatically blend as you pour it. merely fast cool it. Add a few olives as a garnish before you begin to drink.
Love the online ordering in that I am somewhat motion challenged. I toured the inside once, was amazed, and never came back in. Problem is you don't show the phone number on any of the signs; they all refer me to your app which I don't have. My iPhone is the lowest memory version and there's no room for another app. I must call Siri and ask for Total Wine. Your device answers the phone.
