The B-1 microphone is a very good sounding microphone for voice. I don't know how good it is for recording music? There is also a problem with some B-1 microphone. One problem is a low sounding rumble generated in the microphone and the other is gain will suddenly drop off. I have several of this type as well as friends who own them. They have reported the same problems. Some have gutted the microphone and have rebuilded them with replacement condenser components as the case is very well built and it would be a shame to drop it in the garbage. Overall a good microphone but you might get a bad one!

Ok....unbiased very short review of the Behringer B-1 from a long term amateur musician.Look... this Microphone is very good for most uses, I use it mainly for recording....it punches well above its weight and for the price you cant go wrong.The mic gives excellent clarity and is pitched right at that neutral level.I would give it a 7/10 for performance and value....if you want to improve on that, you will have to start paying some serious money.

A friend of mine brought this mic over last night for some test recording and I was blown away by the sound quality produced. A deep, warm lower tonal quality that instantly made me want to purchase it. We only used it to record vocals which was impressive enough, but I can't imagine how well an acoustic guitar would sound with this bad boy on the receiving end. I noticed an immediate boost in the high end and mid range and being able to roll off bass frequencies if need be at the touch of a switch is a great feature. I fully expected to pay $250 for a low-end mic, and when I found the B-1 I was a bit skeptical at first. I do own some other products from Behringer, and I'm happy with them, so I rolled the dice, and boy am I ever glad I did. The clarity of this thing is phenomenal. It is extremely well constructed, comes with a rock solid shock mount, a removeable wind screen, and a really nice carrying case. For vocals, I could literally whisper into this thing and not get lost in the mix. Good crisp sound for vocals - whether lower or higher range, this mic is versatile. I always records the vocal track dry - then add whatever effect plug-ins during production. With good equipment, production programs, and expertise, one can effectively create a vocal track as good (note to all high-priced mic owners) as a Neumann, Bock, Blue, or any other professional studio mic.Unusual for a condenser mic at the price to have a low 10dbl switch - this is a plus.Seems to be built strong - shock mount is nice with two prongs that quickly snap the mic snuggly in and out. Hard shell case looks good also.Best condenser mic out there for the price.
I have owned this microphone for at least 17 years and it has been a very versatile, solid performer with no degradation over time. The shock mount works the same as the day I bought it. (Of course, I did replace the foam wind screen, just because.) The low frequency roll off, and 10 dB attenuator are bonus features at this price point. I ordered two of these, and let me tell you they are GREAT! I mainly use them for drum overheads, but they sound great on vocals and guitar. Back to drum overheads....the -10db switch helps with the drums because they are pretty loud and considering this is a large diaphragm condenser, you need a reduction of some sort if your playing drums. Also the large diaphragm helps give a better overall picture to the drums when placed higher. I play worship music so its not like I play super light or super heavy so this would be perfect for you if you play this genre. This is a great beginner to mid range microphone depending on what your doing.Hope this helps :)

I use for Amateur Radio microphone with a Behringer 802 mixer. Of course, there are much better mics, but for the money, this is hard to beat, especially for the application for which I am using. I have been told that my transmit audio is much better than any Amateur Radio microphone that they have heard; that I sound like a professinal broadcast station.I am sure that this mic would serve well for any home recording studio. Their construction seems well. I also like the fact that the mic package comes with a decent shock mount and foam pop filter, all in a very nice foam filled case, Hard to beat package for the price.
I have owned the B1 for better than 5 years now,and thought I had previously reviewed it but apparently I did't.We have used the B1 in the studio on mostly acoustic instruments as that's basically all we record but have also found it to perform well on guitar amps,and fair on acoustic bass. Over all it's a great add to any mic closet! We use it at least twice a year on outside open air shows and it has really impressed me there. Can't hardly go wrong with this microphone. At it's affordable price and it's overall dependability it's a keeper!
