I was looking for a micro PA for my rental company - something that could easily be transported/setup by the novice client for playback music + limited speech (small parties, meetings etc); I was pleasantly surprised with the sound that comes out of these small boxes (and from this brand) - it's clear (even when pushed) and loud. Of course these won't shake any walls down but the do have a surprising amount of low end for their size/power; it's punchy (near field). They also have nice imaging. High-end sits just right, a little sizzle with no harshness. they also project well. If I had once complaint on the sound i'd be that the low mid is a bit pronounced in the near-field but I attribute that to the driver size.Cons - only points I can take away from this box is ... MoreI was looking for a micro PA for my rental company - something that could easily be transported/setup by the novice client for playback music + limited speech (small parties, meetings etc); I was pleasantly surprised with the sound that comes out of these small boxes (and from this brand) - it's clear (even when pushed) and loud. So most digital monitors of Behringer will only drive one speaker, no external one)- The frequency spectrum like stated on the behringer spec sheet (65Hz to 20kHz) only holds true for upto ~25% of the volume. As you boost past 50% of the volume the fundamentals no longer are boosted in volume, and the cab's specs rather are 130Hz-20kHz. Boosting the master volume past 12 o'clock (very high volumes) gradually even more of the lowend is cut, and the cab's specs rather are 160-200Hz to 20kHz. This is to protect the woofer from being damaged by too much lowend. The negative side is that the sound lacks bass, the positive side is you can boost volumes beyond what this cabinet was made to do.The sound quality is not good for monitoring audio CD, voice or any mid oriented instrument like piano or nylon stringed guitar. The B208D has the same amplifier as the B210D, and it is known that the B210D has a larger dome and cone than the B208D, thus producing more deeper lowend and more mids than this one.In other words, for the audio engineers out there: The behringer B208D not only has a real frequency spectrum of about 80-130Hz to 20kHz, it also has a dip in volume between 800Hz and 2kHz (crossover issue).Any mid oriented instrument will have difficulty hearing himself on stage.Drums will have issues with not hearing the snare well enough, as well as the depth of the bass kick. This monitor is excellent for amplification of wind instruments, or electronic wind instruments!Sax, trumpet, and steel string acoustic guitars, all those instruments that use anything from 200Hz to 800Hz as their base tone, and from 2kHz to 16khz for monitoring the bright of their sound (brightness of the reed, or bright trumpets) will love this monitor! There's no monitor on the market with the same specs for that price, save for a CONTACT CX MKII, made in italy, which only can be gotten in Europe, but is less flexible than this one.

Since we are using these as stage monitors, the real test is how they perform with a live rock band cranking through them. Our band uses no stage amplifiers. The guitar and bass both go through a floor processor and then output directly into the PA mixer. For drums, we use a Roland V drumset. This gives a very accurate impression of how the speakers sound and let me tell you they they pulled through with flying colors. Even the kick drum was clear and punchy and the volcals clear as a bell. I tried using them as the mains along with subs on a smaller job but to be honest, that was just more than they could handle. They passed every other test with flying colors.Since then, I purchased 2 more of these and use 4 of the b21d's along with 2 subs as the mains. I am sure that the QSC k8 or Electro-Voice ZXA1-90 8" speakers sound better but all 4 of my Behringers cost not much more than 1 of the above mentioned. As a musician playing for over 3 decades in many bands over the years, I highly recomend purchasing these speakers. You will be amazed as I was!Volume, bass and and high controls on the back. Aslo a output jack to link additional units.Built like a tank and the finish is very durable.Lowest price 8" powered speakers on the market.

Completely Amazing for the Size
19 April 2015

This speaker is absolutely incredible. I have used this bad little boy as a monitor for several years now and it is completely satisfactory. I wish I had a small army of these things. In fact, this little guy packs more punch than its big brother, the 10" variety. Not sure what happened there, but that 10" speaker just won't pump out the bass as efficiently as this little guy. I love this speaker and whether you intend to use it as a monitor or as a small system for a party DJ rig or something, this thing won't let you down.

Fantastic for live stereo keyboard monitoring
13 November 2020

I have been searching for years for the ideal live stereo keyboard monitoring setup. A friend uses a pair of QSC K8s and I was about to try and find some secondhand, but for about a quarter of the price, these have turned out to be exactly what I needed. The sound quality is great and they go loud enough for a gig situation. Cant recommend them highly enough.

Great Value

This speaker is probably one of the best, considering the price of it. For beginner DJ's and people that need a budget sound system this is one of the best options! This speaker can deliver great sound for up to 150 people in a small venue. This speaker already has enough bass for that (if you put the bass almost to maximum.) The build quality looks quite sturdy, it seems like very solid plastic.

I have been using this speaker I think for 4 years now... It has been thrown around numerous times and still going strong with no issues or any broken knobs. I have even used it as a bass amp for a short period of time! Mostly it has been used for acoustic shows (2 vocals, percussion, 2 guitars), as well as monitor for full band shows (mostly running vocals). In one of our shows in Boston we actually used it in the street for vocals and backing tracks, guitar through a vox ac30 amp, bass through fender acoustasonic amp, and no mics on drums, even in that open space (Make Music Harvard Square), it sounded great, vocals and playback tracks were clear enough... Definitely worth the money. I usually rent QSC or MacKie speakers for bigger venues but this is always with ... MoreI have been using this speaker I think for 4 years now... TOTALLY WORTH IT
28 February 2019

At the risk of sounding like an infomercial ---these little monsters are fabulous. I play at tiki bars and events and these are at 99 percent of my jobs. super light and clear. I pair them with a small Behringer sub and its perfect. I get quite a few compliments and people who cant believe that sound and volume come from such a small speaker. On larger jobs i use them as monitors, where they do a nice job, not a spectacular job as monitors but very passable. SO in my opinion, they are best used as the main PA speakers on small to medium events. VERY WORTH IT

Underwhelmed
25 February 2014

Got these as add on stage monitors and was initially impressed but quickly lost my good opinion. They sounded good in an enclosed space at lower volumes but once turned up they have horribly muddy lows and mids and sharp grating highs. The lack of a handle at all is a horrible design flaw. Once turned up to a reasonable level they begin to hiss and crackle (even without any signal going through). The volume and eq knobs on the back are cheap and bend/break easily. For how small they are they weigh a tun! I would recommend staying away from this brand and going for EV ZLX series. Much better tone, frequency response, volume, SPL rating etc.

Would I buy this again? Well, I bought four of them
6 March 2018

I bought two then bought a third and recently bought one more. So I guess I like them . . . I'm using them as monitors for my band though I do use them as a quick n easy bass amp sometimes. They are small and powerful enough and don't need to be turned up so loud that I would know if they distort or not. The only issue I've had with them is that the angle that they sit at isn't severe enough. They need to point up more rather than at your ankles. But, as is, the cables rest on the ground. I built four small PVC stands for them which solved the problem
