I can't add anything of value to the descriptions and reviews already here, so why try?I can tell you this: I used to own one of these, and I sold it a couple of years ago. I've bought and sold a lot of gear over the years, and I've never regretted selling most of it. I *do* regret selling the RX1602 -- enough that I bought another one last year. And I just bought another one from MF, because it's one of the most integral pieces of my rig. if it were lost, stolen, or damaged, I'd need a replacement ASAP.Behringer gets dinged a lot, but I've had great luck with these rack mixers. Good quality jacks, and a nice heavy frame. There's nothing out there in the price range that matches the features.

Love this little unit. Amazing value and all the features needed to get multiple stereo outputs into 2 channels of a desk or sound card.

Overall this mixer is a bargain and has features that other units twice as expensive don't have. I've had no problems with it and the thoughful touches like lighted mute buttons make it easy to use. Highly recommended. I run multiple guitar preamps in parallel and this is perfect to send the mixed stereo signals out to the bank of effects in my studio rack.8 stereo channels in, pannable, and with the ability to send to monitor mix make this a very useful item for any small studio or guitar rig that has multiple preamps.I have no complaints about Behringer products. I had a problem with a different piece of gear and they sent me a new one no problem. This mixer unit is great for what I need it to do.It's Behringer, so you can't beat the price. Here's my first impression after unboxing, mounting and doing a simple, quick test of the mixer. On the plus side, the unit feels sturdy, has a nice, substantial weight to it, is constructed well and has a sleak, industrial look. The jacks and rotary knobs feel professional and are not flimsy. Setting up a quick test configuration of my Roland Gaia synth running into stereo channel 1 and my headphones coming out of the phones jack of the unit was easy and intuitive for the most part. There are several stages of gain / level control, from the source device itself, the channel's gain, the master gain and the independent left and right levels. This offers flexibility but is also somewhat of a con, as I'll explain below. There are several stages of gain / level control, from the source device itself, the channel's gain, the master gain and the independent left and right levels. This offers flexibility but is also somewhat of a con, as I'll explain below. Operation and adjustment of parameters was, again, super easy and intuitive. It's a comfortable and fun board to use.On the flip side, I found mounting of the unit into my rack to be grueling and painful. I have several other units, including a PreSonus board and power conditioner, in the rack and had no difficulty mounting those, but I had to fight with the Behringer to force it into place, as the unit was nearly too wide for the rack space. Once I finally got it into place, it is seated well and looks good, but that experience was more difficult than it should have been. Also, the product description boasts ultra low noise operation even at high levels, but I experienced some line noise when turning up my synth and the headphone output of the unit. I experimented a bit with the different gain settings, but because there are so many of them to adjust between your source signal and your output, it's kind of a tricky prospect to find a good balance. Perhaps this just comes down to further experimentation on my part, but again, I feel this should not be so difficult.Overall, I'm really excited to have found such a feature-rich, professionally built and good-looking mixer for my studio, and I'm eager to play around with it more and get it hooked up to the rest of my gear. I was willing to spend twice as much on a board, but nothing else I looked at had the right combination of inputs, outputs and flexibility, so I believe I really got a sweet deal with this board.
Ok I was looking for a little rack mixer to use with all my older midi gear. I have been looking around for a while and though I would give this a try. So far so good. I hooked it up 1,2,3 balanced outputs to my Focusrite Sapphire pro 40. I can hear no difference in the sound quality from the midi gear to the Focusrite inputs. I did have to set the input on all the channels to +4 DB since it would over load them at -10 DB. I did hear a difference in the sound from the head phone jack it sounded brighter. That to me is not a big deal since I will use the Focusrite head phone to monitor. The head phones are Sony MDR V6. Good bang for the buck and I hope it will last. Knocking off 1 star for for the detente balance controls.
Needed a stereo line mixer for my midi studio. I already had a Behringer X1832usb as my main mixer, so I desided to give the RX1602 a try. I was not disappointed. With the RX1602, I was able to output all my instruments in stereo, making a WORLD of difference. The unit has very little background noise and give you the basic functions needed: pan, level, mute, and effects send. Most of my keyboards have onboard effects so I don't use the effects send. I use the unit on average 3 to 4 hours daily and have had no problems. Great mixer at a good price.
The problem: I had more outputs from my synths and modular gear than I had inputs on my audio interface. I didn't want to spend the money on more inputs with the same quality AD conversion so I decided on a cheap line mixer. I also had an extra 1/4" patchbay with nothing connected to it, so a rack mixer was preferable. After debating all the options available, I took a chance on this and it's perfect. Signal path is surprisingly clean - "Ultra Low Noise" isn't marketing hype here. Currently have my MPC One, Elektron model:cycles and Korg Opsix running into it, and with audio coming out of all of them there's plenty of headroom. Recording a stereo submix from this mixer sounds great on playback. Individual mutes and balance per channel are all nice options too. I already owned one of these, needed more channels so it was an easy decision. Works out at a little over £6 per channel! Recommended.
Behringer keep on getting better and better and this unit shows that they are now well past the quality issues they had a reputation for. This is a great Line level mixer for synths and modular if you already own an audio interface and just need an easy clean way to mix your signals into it. Highly recommend this mixer
more needles bling to my tv media centre, no reason, just looks cool. also is good for multiple inputs of pc, dvd, vcr etc
