I was using a stereo passive box and was looking around to possibly get another to use for multiple PA speakers, then found this on eBay and after reading good reviews, I placed a bid and purchased this unit. I used this in practicing and was very happy with the cleaner signal (not perfect, but WAY better than the rf interference noise) the fourth time I used it, it simply shut off and wouldn't respond to anything. I am just relieved this didn't happen during a performance. It may be a fuse that blew...not sure, I am still looking for a place where I can take it to see if it is worth repairing.

I replaced 7 direct boxes (4 drums, keys, bass, guitar) in our church praise band with this single unit in a rack on stage. It is so much less clutter and much safer and simpler for the musicians to set up. When we first plugged in, the level was much higher than the old boxes, but each channel has a -30db button that solves that, so we only needed minor gain adjustments in the mix. Very happy with the results.

Bought this unit over 2 years ago for my church. We installed it so that it does not move and so that no can see it. Not sure how it would do if it were conatantly moved, but in the application we are using it, it has worked flawlessly. It sure beats having the individual DI boxes that always seemed to last only about 6 months for us in the past. I would say we have definitely gotten our money's worth out of this unit.Perfect for the price and for what we use it for at my church.
We had 7 DI boxes with XLR cables on stage for our praise band. I replaced these with the rack mount unit, and it's great. It looks clean, no boxes or extra cables, and easier for the band to set up and tear down - they just plug their instruments in to the rack.Especially good for the drummer who has 4 outputs. The first time we plugged in, the signals were much hotter than the old boxes. I pushed in the Pad buttons and the levels are almost the same as before, so easy transition for me (the sound guy).
Works as advertised. I have mine in a rack with PreSonus 26x26 and 2 FS8s for 24 tracks with ProTools in a roadcase. So far, no surprises other than great for the price. More convenient than single DI boxes, and the pad/gain combos are handy. Nice job Behringer!
This is an absolute winner for our church audio system! It creates the perfect DI pre-amp for electric guitars and electric drums. Excellent sound quality and its so easy to install that its almost stupid-proof. Perfect!
I use the DI-800 for my recording studio. I was a bit apprehensive since behringer can be hit and miss with their products. But for the price I decided to give it a try! The reason for me selecting the DI-800 is I use an eight bus recording console into a DAW using Nuendo3. Since being limited to eight busses, I thought "wouldn't it be great to have a bus quality output from the channel's direct out (Studio Master Mixdown CLassic 8 - 32 channel). The mixdown classic 8 direct out has a much lower signal out of the direct out vs. the bus out. This prompted me to do a product search on a DI rack-mountable box with a gain boost. The DI-800 has delivered beautifully with no noticeable noise increase or attenuation of signal highs. It was a total shock to me that such an ... MoreI use the DI-800 for my recording studio. It was a total shock to me that such an inexpensive product could deliver such incredible return! I didn't know how to act when the unit totally surpassed my expectations! If you find yourself having the same "8 busses is just not enough" hurdles when recording live bands in your studio, I totally recommend this unit. I hope you have the same success I have with this almost priceless unit!
The DI-800 is very easy to use and versatile. I have it lifting the grounds between my Soundcraft GB2 24 channel analog mixer and the Tascam 144mkii that is connected to the pc. We were getting a bad high-mid frequency whine/buzz. I tried changing the wiring and the location of everything. Also tried to plug everything involved through a power conditioner. I wired the input from the soundboard and the output to the soundboard both through the DI-800 and as soon as I selected to lift the last of the four channels the ground loop buzzing disappeared. Mine came with a quick start guide, but the spec sheet and user manual are easily found on the manufacturers website. Other functionality is cut or boost input signal, link out and unbalanced out. Note that 1st unit received was defective, returned and replacement sent quickly. (Although backordered at first). I was immediately floored by the clean low noise and high gain audio I was receiving at the digital mixer. Buzz and hum issues were eliminated with the on board switch options. I run 4 keyboard sources-Motif ES8, Korg X50, Motif Rack, and MC505- currently, providing 8 outputs (4 stereo) to the stage box at gigs, or direct to a Soundcraft SI Performer 3 in my studio. Then also linked (Y out) out to a Roland KC-550 Keyboard Amp (8 channels). This replaced (2) 4 channel passive units I've had for the last 10 years that finally started failing. I don't gig more than a couple times a month currently, and the DI 800 will also be used in the studio, where the rig and rig-rack live. All in all, I'm VERY impressed with this unit at this price. I actually wished it cost more, so that I was more confident that it was built "solidly" for travel. I'll write another review "down the road". ;)
