Love the look and happy about the purchase for that reason, but I did expect that a Bell product would be manufactured with higher quality. The chin strap is single layer webbing (feels cheap and floppy to feed through the rings compared to my MX-9. The bill rattles on the snaps and is so hard to remove I feel I may break it. The paint finish is very nice, but the narrow fit will never allow for my communication system. I'm a medium oval head and this is tight, so much that I need to reach in each side and unfold my ears! My MX-9 is the same size, has room for comm and ears freely conform. If you want a cool-looking helmet that is a pain to put on, go for it. Really freaking uncomfortable and offers zero extra padding/protection. Did I mention thin? You might as well be wearing this helmet without the liner or using a washcloth instead. Tapping on the top/sides of the helmet with an open palm I felt like I was going to get a concussion. There is almost no impact absorption. Compare this to my Scorpion EXO R420 - I could probably survive a direct hit from a wrecking ball in that thing. Not a fair comparison with a bare-bones retro helmet, I know. But still. The whole thing just felt ridiculously cheaply made. You are definitely not getting your money's worth.Features - There are none, really. But that's not why you're buying this helmet anyway. I will say that the extra large eyeport is great for accommodating pretty much any google you would want to use. So that's something. And it's a super light helmet, which is nice.Style - This is where the Bell Moto III gets all of its points. This is the original, classic, badass retro helmet, and it looks awesome. Enough to make me hesitate about returning it for approximately…. 30 seconds. I don't think I have ever looked cooler. The version I ordered was the basic white version with "Bell Moto III" in black text around the face. But there are tons of awesome graphic options and they all look great. Big win here. But not worth the tradeoff in the other areas, in my opinion. Not even close.And that brings me to alternatives. I was truly sad that I couldn't justify the compromise on quality/style with the Moto III. In looking around for alternatives I came across the Nexx XG200. Very similar concept, much better execution (at a bit higher cost, but not much). I had previously tried some Nexx helmets when I attended a bike event in the UK this past winter and the fit wasn't great, so I didn't have high hopes. Ordered one anyway (medium) and the thing fits like a glove. The interior liner is MUCH higher quality (thickness, padding, materials used, even the design aesthetic - yes, the liner has a sweet design) than the Bell Moto III, as is the shell (sturdier, same weight). Much better impact absorption and all around feels like a much safer helmet. Extra features include small forehead vents. Similar awesome graphic options. Fits my Oakley goggles just fine, even with a somewhat smaller eyeport. The 3-snap design can also accommodate a huge range of other aftermarket face shields, etc., unlike the Moto III's 5-snap design. It's also DOT-approved (for what that's worth) and while it doesn't have the ECE sticker if you buy it in the US, the same helmet is ECE-certified in Europe (I called to check after seeing it listed as ECE-certified on EU websites but not on US ones). You are easily getting twice the helmet for 20% more money, in my opinion.For those of you that care about more than just how a helmet looks, hopefully this review provides a bit of a counterpoint to the other style-centric reviews for the Bell Moto III I've seen on a bunch of sites. Bought this helmet after 6 months of waiting on them to make a new FastHouse Moto 3. After having the helmet for four days and only wearing it maybe 3 times it got a massive chip from a Woden door. I take full responsibility for bumping the helmet into the door but I have never had a helmet chip all the way down to the shell so easily. I have multiple HJC and Bell helmets and have never had one that chips and scratches so easily! Can't imagine what a small rock or road debris would do to it at 40+ mph.Its a cool looking helmet but definitely feels slightly defective when it comes to the outside coating on the shell.

It's light, comfortable, and has lots of airflow. The peak keeps a low sun out of my eyes, which exactly why I got this helmet. I use it with some 100% goggles I also got on Revzilla and the setup works great. Don't forget earplugs.
I bought my Moto 3 from another vender do to them having the Independent paint style I wanted and it was over $100 cheaper!Overall I really love this helmet. At first it was a really tight fit. I'm usually a med. or sm. in size due to my head size (between 57-58 cm) so I got a med. After a few rides it has broke in nicely! It fits snug and comfy.Obviously due to the open face the air flow is great for hot days. As far as noise I think it's fairly quiet, but I'm used to riding mostly half lids. Compared to them it's quieter, no need for ear plugs any more.About the only gripe I can think to have is the lack of channels for glasses. It is a bit of a chore putting on sunglasses with it. I've never used a helmet with a face shield, and the last time I wore goggles was when I was taking my riding course 5 years ago. I did wear Biltwell goggles with the Moto 3 today, and my Ray Ban Wayfarers fit just fine underneath the goggles. The one thing I had to get used to was the goggles cutting down a little on my peripheral vision. Again, it was very windy out: because I had to turn my head more than I am used to check the lanes next to me, the wind caught the visor a bit and moved my head back.Overall, it's a fun helmet that certainly makes a statement. I like the fact that it is both ECE & DOT certified, it's comfortable, and I love the color. The only reasons why I gave it a 4/5 on both "Bang For The Buck" and "Features" was that it really doesn't have much in the way of features.Now if I could just get Bell to make the Bullitt in an intermediate oval...
I’m happy, overall, with the Moto 3 helmet. The fit is tighter than other size large helmets I’ve had. Tighter than other Bell size large helmets. I believe it does fit, and will be less tight once worn awhile and the pads get bedded in. I certainly would have tried on a XL if purchasing in person. The shell of this helmet seems large (think bubble head) but this is my first motocross helmet. It is very well made and nicely finished. Overall, I would buy this helmet again.
A nice helmet for shorter blasts around town. The retro styling is well done and that's really what you're paying for -- in terms of features, this is as simple as it gets. Which isn't an inherently bad thing. But the innards are cheap/thin and I've found that it starts to pinch around the temples pretty terribly around the 60 minute mark. Needless to say, that makes for an absolutely miserable ride. I'll still wear mine on shorter commutes but never on a day ride.Pain is beauty: You might look great in the Moto III, but you might not feel it.
