(307 reviews)

The Scout Air utilizes an advanced and innovative "In-mold" construction that combines the Tri-Matrix composite shell with the internal EPS liner. The final result is an extremely compact, lightweight helmet that surpasses both DOT and European ECE certification requirements. The ultimate in lightweight protection - in spite of the robust performance - it weighs a feathery 900 grams; so light it almost disappears on your head. Snap in either of the two included visors and tailor the look to suit your style, or pick up one of the clear or smoked "full-face" accessory shields and escape from the elements.

Amazingly Light Helmet

The balaclava is so light that it seems like it shouldn't work but it does. No more crunched ear. I really like both helmets. The Bell Scout Air is my preferred helmet this summer because it is so incredibly light and it is not full face. That means lots of insects hanging out around these roads; at least in the summer anyway. Spatter spatter. The Bell Scout Air can be noisy but if my ear plugs are well installed it's not an issue. Getting the little Bell on and off is a little tricky but I figured it out. I put my driving sunglasses and earplugs on first, followed by the balaclava, and then the helmet. I spread the ear flaps by holding them along their back edge and spreading them while I push my face into the forward tilted helmet. To remove it I grab the earflaps from the back edge again, spread them, and lift the back of the helmet tilting it forward. It's a close thing but it works reliably and easily without ripping my ears off. Putting the Shoei on and taking it off is more problematic and I almost returned it before I learned to pull harder on the straps to spread the helmet opening before pulling the helmet on and taking it off.

I really liked the helmet right up to the point I got on the interstate; it felt like I deployed a parachute and it was trying to suck the helmet off my head. There are NO vents or anything on the helmet, so keep that in mind before you decide to wear it for that hot summer day ride, although the padding inside, which is comfortable even though pretty sparse, does come out easily so it can be washed out. Overall I like the helmet and it fits well, but if you are a knuckles in the wind chopper rider without the benefit of some wind protection, you need to keep looking.

Good basic helmet.
18 April 2022

A good basic helmet. Feels light and comfortable. No excessive road noise but I do wear ear plugs.Did come with 2 visors, the smaller of the 2 on it and the 2nd loose wrapped in plastic. Arrived in a foam wrap and then in a nice red Bell satin bag, and then double boxed. A red Bell box in a reinforced cardboard box. Shipping was very quick!Good vendor.

Great Summer Helmet

This is a great helmet if your looking for something that's cool in the Summer and offers good protection without the Spaceballs or mushroom head look.Pros:Light weightgood protectionlow profileCons:D-ring is not of good quality. It has sharp edges all around which created a lot of friction when trying to get the chin strap snug. My other Bell helmets have nice rounded or beveled edges so the chin strap can be tightened with ease. The chin strap has no padding and it digs into your neck.Speaking of the chin strap - it's very, very long. Ridiculously long. Great looking but to small
19 December 2022

Great looking helmet and I thought would be great for cruising on my Harley in the summer. Ordered online and delivery was great. I followed the sizing and ordered the large but on arrival it was much too small and I couldn’t even get the sides over my temples. I was going to try the XL but when I returned it to the shop I tried on. shoei JO and it was a great fit so decided to go with the shoei in white

Light, but that's about it
29 June 2023

It took about 16 days to receive this helmet with free shipping.I liked the color, which was white without being too bright. The helmet itself is very light and relatively small, but loud and not very comfortable. Behind the thin fabric liner is very hard foam. It is rigid and uncomfortable on the ears. That hard foam also makes it difficult to insert any kind of eyewear. Eyewear is needed because there are no snaps for a visor or face shield on this model. The chin strap is very long and creates a large loop when threaded through the D-rings and snapped into place. The D-rings only hang down an inch or so below the helmet shell so I was unable to hook it onto the under seat helmet peg on my scooter. Perfect fitting helmet
9 March 2023

Perfect fit by using the instructions of measuring first. Much better shape (oval) compared to my older round Bell helmet. Super light weight and entirely padded especially around the ears. Love the matte black color and having the choice to use either of the 2 different sizes of slim visors. Nice packaging as well with a nice scree printed drawstring bag to store it in during the off season. Glad to purchase this one.

Tight and not comfortable.
27 July 2021

Build quality seemed fine, but the fit and comfort were way off the mark for me. I am 59 cm and ordered large, but there is basically no padding inside, which is fine because this is supposed to be low profile, but the part of the helmet around your ears is hard with sharp edges and was very uncomfortable. Like other reviews mention, this helmet does sit quite high on the brow line, which is not what I was looking for. Also, even with the correct size, the helmet seemed too tight around my temples. Unfortunate, because I wanted this helmet to work,.

nice but noisy
12 August 2022

As others have stated, it's very good but noisy. Since the cheek pads don't seal off against your face the wind gets in there and is loud. The fit (1 size up), finish and overall size are great, but it's hard to wear for long rides. I'm going to try to try to find a set of cheek pads that I can modify to fit to cut down on noise.
