Had this for dinner today as a quick meal on return from holiday. A simple dish easy to warm up served with mango pickle. Nice and tasty not too overpowering in flavour and so was great as a simple meal. It stayed nice and moist after microwaving also which is important to me.
We buy this weekly as it is a good standby as a base for many speedy meals (eg. Kedgeree, Chicken Satay, Curry, Sweet and Sour even Chilli con Carne) where plain wholegrain rice would take too long to cook from scratch.(25 mins). We do use a whole pack per person or 2 between three if not too hungry! It gives an attractive presentation too.
I like making my own rice but when I'm at work with limited cooking facilities and lack of time this is an excellent way to get some tasty carbs into a meal (or can be eaten on its own). It's flavour is ok not spicy or bland and needs no additional seasoning the rice texture is also very good. I can recommend this rice if you want a quick and easy dish.
First time trying this Bens Original golden vegetable rice and it was so quick to prepare. I have used the dry version many times before so wasn't sure how it would compare. I wasn't disappointed it was the same tasty flavour. Much more interesting than plain rice with the added peppers, sweetcorn and peas. You can cook it on a hob if you don't have a microwave and it only takes a minute longer and the grains of rice stayed nicely seperated. Would be great to take camping as you only need to add small amount water rather than cooking in whole pan of water. I liked for portion control that I could keep half the pack in the fridge for couple of days after opening. Easy open pouch too!
Quick, delicious, no pan to wash and suitable for gluten intolerant. Also, it is a rare find - no garlic!! Everything seems to have garlic these days, so if, like me, you cannot abide the stuff, this is for you.
Ths vegetable rice takes hardly any time to heat and tastes wonderful. The rice is plump and moist, and tastes cooked to perfection. The small pieces of vegetables add to the flavour. It os a great accompaniment to a wide range of dishes. Very convenient and very filling.
I always have a few of these in the cupboard. Quick easy and tasty as a snack or side to a main meal. I sometimes bulk it out with meal or veg. I like Ben's original over the dry mix packets even if a bit more expensive as they take 2 minutes in microwave rather than 20 minutes on the hob.
