I was hesitant buying a 1080 projector when 4k is available, but there wasn't much else that was a good fit in the short throw category. Long story short - I'm delighted. Very bright, fills a 10' wall at barely 6' of throw, colors good. I'm so impressed. The only drawback is sometimes you may see fleeting rainbow artifacts if your eyes dart around over extremely high contrast images (like titles). But after a week or two I didn't notice it anymore, and it's not apparent on a normal scene. Also the menus are intuitive and helpful. This projector is commonly used for golf simulators and I purchased it primarily for that purpose and for home theater use for the kids. It is working great so far. I am using it on a roughly 196 diagonal screen which is outside the recommended max size but the picture and brightness are still very adequate. Really happy with it so far and think it was the right move from a value standpoint over 4k for our use. We may still upgrade to 4k in future, but very happy with this for now. It is ceiling mounted about 10 feet from the screen. love the zoom option for ease of setup.

For my first projector, I originally wanted the BenQ 2150st but missed out on the Black Friday refurb deals. I noticed a brand new projector while checking back on refurb BenQs - the BenQ TH671st. I figured I'd get that one and if I didn't like it, I'd return it and hold out for a deal on the 2150st.However, after receiving and testing out the TH671st I was more than impressed with it! I first tested with Mad Max: Fury Road, Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2 and Horizon Zero Dawn from my PS4 Pro. Colors and details were amazing! No way this projector was going back, it's a keeper! My small apt doesn't even have good light control with eggshell colored walls and beige carpet so there is a lot of reflected ambient light. Also, I don't even have a projector screen yet ... MoreFor my first projector, I originally wanted the BenQ 2150st but missed out on the Black Friday refurb deals. Also, I don't even have a projector screen yet so I'm just projecting onto a wall. With all that going against the projector, the TH671st image is bright, colorful and detailed. I do plan on getting a proper screen and making my apt more projector friendly, (darker paint, black curtains, black area rug, etc). For gamers this projector is fantastic! I've only played Horizon Zero Dawn but there is zero lag, just awesome response from the controller throughout playing time. This projector is advertised as a gaming projector but movies are awesome on this thing! I watched, (the first) John Wick and the reds and blues in the night club scene were beautiful. Guardians of the Galaxy vol:2 looked stunning, the colors in the opening credits scene and the blues and golds of the Sovereign throne room are spectacular. Impressive contrast and that would be even better in a dedicated home theater room.I tested some different sizes with the projector. The largest was about a 180" image and it looks great! However at that size, the pixels are visible from where I was sitting at about 9 or 10 feet away. I even projected onto my wall with windows and closed blinds, (see pics) and still impressive image quality! I actually shifted my furniture around so I could project onto my larger 16' long by 9' high wall.I checked out the 3d on this projector too. Watching Doctor Strange and Thor Ragnarok - which I had to order through Zavvi - was very impressive. Good 3d and image was a decent brightness, (only displays 3d in Vivid mode) using True Depth 3d dlp link glasses. I'm looking forward to finally seeing Avatar in 3d with this projector! The image is bright at 3000 rated lumens! Even during daytime with slightly closed blinds, (south facing windows) the image is good although much better with fully closed blinds or curtains.Sound is not the best however with only a single, 5 watt speaker. It's ok but if you're projecting a big image, you'll want a big sound! I ended up purchasing a Yamaha ats - 1070 soundbar w/DTX and it's much improved the cinematic experience.I do see a little "rainbow effect" with this projector, mainly in first viewings and it seems the more I watch, the less I see it or maybe notice it. Your mileage may vary as far as that goes. This projector is lighter than I expected! So easy to maneuver around and just to handle. If you're not ceiling mounting this, it's very easy to move around and find the perfect spot for it. It would also be easy to bring to a friend or family for a movie night! The box it comes in doubles as a carrying case with handle!I was going to give the TH671st projector a 4 star review due to the small speaker size and slight rainbow effect but at 750.00 for an amazing projector I can look past those 2 very small cons. It also left me with more funds for a soundbar and 3d glasses. A great deal on a brand new projector! This will hold me over until 4k/hdr prices come down and ATSC 3.0 is here. All the attention now seems to be towards 4k/HDR projectors but do NOT underestimate 1080p projectors like this one!So I definitely recommend this projector! I have a few posts on AVS forums about the TH671st with a vid under username euskadi71. Also check out posts from user sage11x there as well.

I was blown away by this projector from the start. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing, and I don't regret going with this one at all. The image is amazing in appropriate lighting, and surprisingly good even when there's ambient light in the room. (Still, I will be putting up blackout curtains for summertime use.) The most startling thing of all was how good the sound is. Yes, we mainly use our surround sound, but when we first set up the projector we watched several movies before we moved the surround sound system into the room and it was decent. We could understand all the dialogue, and the music and effects were surprisingly robust.I also love how easy this was to mount to the ceiling.
I read a lot of reviews before settling on this projector, and I'm glad I got it. I'm most surprised by how good the integrated speakers are. I don't plan to use them long-term, but as a stop-gap while I finish setting up my sound system in the room they are quite satisfactory. I assumed they would be awful, but they actually sound as good as any TV speakers would. The picture on this is sharp and the colors vibrant. I'm very happy so far (though I've only watched about 4 hours of content on it. Hopefully I feel the same a year from now!)
This projector is capable of 1080P and I absolutely love it. The neighbor came over to check it out and was also impressed with the picture quality. We have a big living with lots of windows (with light filtering blinds) so daytime is not as bright as I would like from the projector. This is not the projector's fault since I have it projected at 166 at 8 feet for a well lit room. If the screen size were smaller and projected at a closer distance then it would be bright enough to enjoy the content. Gaming is great with zero or no noticeable lag from my experience. Sound is OK, so I have it on mute and airplay it over to my Apple HomePod. I now have my own Home Theater. Love it!
We purchased for use in a small conference room to project documents. Projector is about 54 from a 70 wide screen and we put a 1 spacer under the front height adjuster that is already in the max-height position. Even in this cramped condition, the focus and keystone adjustment produces a very clear image. I must mention the very strong solvent-like smell we got for the first ~45 minutes of operation. Had to open the doors and get air moving through. Now it's fine but it did produce a very strong odor that could be taken care of with a warm-up at the factory. Like the fact it's made in Taiwan and not mainland China. We really like the projector and its capabilities. Would purchase again.
New to projectors. Purchased to be used exclusively for a golf simulator. I have the projector ceiling mounted approximately 6 1/2 feet from a 9 foot wide by 7 1/2 tall screen and it does fit quite nicely...picture is plenty bright during the day in my basement with a few south facing small windows. Speaker is sufficient to broadcast the nature noises and color commentary with the golf simulator. I got lucky with my ceiling placement as this projector does not have have any zoom feature and size is based solely on proximity to the screen. Like I said, I got lucky. The projector is nice, but I would opt for one with a zoom feature for any future purposes.
This is a great little projector as long as you understand what your requirements are. I just wanted 1080p quality and I wanted a short throw distance. I am using a 120 inch outdoor projector screen and the projector is about 8 feet from the screen and completely fills it up. I plugged a firestick into it and I can watch anything. Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney, Apple TV, etc. Everything that streams you can watch with a firestick. The picture quality is absolutely fine for my purposes, which is watching outdoors on an outdoor projector screen. My favorite feature is bluetooth. I am using a Bose Soundlink Revolve+ portable speaker that i put near me and about 20 feet from the projector. It sounds great. There is no lag in the sound and being able to use ... But if I ever wanted to really add some good speakers to the set up this projector can definitely handle it. I have probably used it for about 100 hours and haven't had a single problem. Don't hesitate to buy...
I tried a cheapo "6000" lumen projector before buying this one. It was riddled with issues and not nearly as bright as it claimed. The BenQ is TOO bright in our bedroom at night and I have to turn it to eco mode when combined with a screen. I almost returned my sound system, until I tried another audio source. Watching "Into the Spiderverse" really highlighted the issues. The fathers voice sounded like he was underwater, and any of the scenes with music and dialog were impossible to understand. It sounded like most characters were mumbling. All this said, I'll be keeping this projector, the short throw, zoom feature, accurate focus, clarity, and color reproduction is stellar. I purchased an HDMI audio extractor so I can separate audio from the Roku before it goes through the projector. I highly suggest not relying on the audio processing capability of this projector.Good:Crystal clearVERY bright (much brighter than the "6000" lumen projector I bought first)Lots of settings to tweak and get a perfect pictureOut of the box experience is greatBad:Lack of audio outputs (limited to just an aux jack)Audio output is very muddled
