I bought a pair of these to help with dismantling and reassembling some chairs. They work well, and the ability to switch quickly between spreading and clamping is a real advantage.this design of clamp does not provide high pressure, but on the other hand the light weight is a plus when applying a number of clamps to a workpiece.the toggle releasing the pressure works well; the changeover knob (clamping/spreading) does not feel very positive and one wonders about the reliability of the concealed mechanism. I do hope the bessey reputation for quality will be borne out by a long service life.these are useful clamps, and i shall buy some more.

Been wanting these for a while, having been used to Irwin Clamps(which have done me well) these are very much in a different class, which is what you pay for, very pleased

For wood, they're pretty good, dirt cheap compared to a metalworking clamp, so I'm a bit biased. As a result, If I haven't blown over 50 quid on a clamp, it can't be that good, so Wrong. They have a few bells and whistles, the jaws can be turned around and they will push and pull. Also, the jaws are double-ended, not worked out why yet, but I've only had them 15 years or so.I have used them to jack a cupboard up for fixing on a wall. I've used them to pull stuff square and clamp up when glueing, even clamped straight edges when ripping. A really versatile clamp and hard-wearing if treated fairly. They don't clamp as hard as a screw clamp, not far off though. The fact they can clamp at any size without complex adjustmets is a boon. People tend to overlook the need ... A really useful clamp, the one handed operation really makes many task so much easier.
if you haven't tried these, I encourage you to give them a try - especially if you work alone. while it doesn't seem like a huge difference, the trigger being inline with the clamp creates a huge advantage in those "I wish I was an octopus" moments. The other huge improvement is the switch between clamping to spreading. Anyone that has used an irwin quick clamp and had to change out the fixed end, will forever appreciate the flip of a switch on this clamp. the clamp is by no means a parallel clamp, but in a pinch I have used two of these opposing each other (one spreading and one clamping) and make sure you don't have skewed corners.
Seem like good clamps with some very useful features. However, the 2 I received have a very different sound and feel when actuating them. One is smooth and quiet while the other makes a clicking ratchet sound. I emailed Bessey about it but never heard back from them so I will have to return both of them.
Works reasonably well one-handed. Would be better if handle glided easier on the bar....sort of sticks. Attempted to lubricate with silicone spray but was not effective. Still think it is a good (not great) clamp for the price.
This Bessey 18 inch DuoKlamp is a good overall light to medium duty clamp. The clamp has a 16" capacity providing 260 psi of clamping force which should satisfy most projects requiring a clamp. The clamp provides both clamping and spreading features. Switching between the two is accomplished by turning the integrated dial, and repositioning the jaw pads to the opposite sides of the clamping bar.In changing over from clamping to the spreading function, I found it really difficult to both remove and reinstall the clamping pads. The pads are somewhat rigid plastic pads secured by 3 integrated tabs, one on the front, and one on each side. It was not easy getting them off. As a result, I just gave up and will regulate this clamp to only being a clamp and not a ... You can't beat Bessey quality in clamps, and this one is no exception! I am an amateur woodworker and i have found these duoklamps to be one of the easiest clamps to work with. I make lots of picture frames and this 18" clamp fits in nicely. Its one-hand operation is smooth and easy to use. In my picture I demonstrate that this clamp is also at home in backyard construction, too. I had to fast en an upright made from a landscape timber to a 2x4 framework. The 1 3/4" throat worked very well. It grabbed the 2x4 and held the landscape timber firm until I was able to screw them together. It held firm enough that I had to use only one, yet it was easily loosened so i could adjust it so it was plumb. In essence, this is one of the easiest clamps to adjust and use, it has ... nothing comes close to this design, functionality and quality. They are expensive but every bit counts. These are my everyday go to clamps. -R
