Fabric ligatures have become so popular because they hold the reed without clamping (and therefore deadening) it, unlike the metal ligatures which tend to come with clarinets. This allows the reed to vibrate more freely, producing a more "woody" tone and making articulation easier to control. BG's Flex series ligatures are made from a specially treated, durable material and are easy to fit with the single tightening screw, making them especially suitable for for students and younger players.
