Great! Takes a couple of minutes, but I'd been forewarned about that. Only problem is that when I set to grind for espresso I can hear the burr teeth contacting lightly. However, setting #2 does just fine for espresso and my moka pot.Overall it compliments my Bialetti Musa really well.

It's ok for stove stop, but I wont use it on anything coarser, defeating the purpose of having multiple grinds. I like that its a simple system, but using it is a little fiddly.

We searched high and low and as usual John Lewis had an impressive range, including this one. Like the price and the quality of build. Exceeds our expectations.

An expensive mistake bought in haste. You spend endless time turning the handle for a tiny amount of coffee and then you find you've inadvertently changed the grind settings. I bought a proper machine with a hopper on top for the beans and it grinds immaculately for not much extra. Not recommended.
I bought this because I fancied a good quality manual grinder. Opening the box, I was immediately disappointed as it was largely cheap plastic. It ground the beans fair enough but after the second use I could not screw the ground coffee holder back on to the machine without cross threading it. Eventually, it had to returned as faulty and I replaced it with an electric grinder, only £25 more expensive, but in a different league in terms of quality manufacture.
I recommend it, but just think there could be design improvements. Don't over-tighten the top screw: it tightens more in use and can be impossible to then remove. When the grinder part is removed from the measure cup part you can't stand the grinder section up, so the coffee left in the grind mechanism will drop everywhere: a bit of overhang on top section would be much more practical. But the unit ultimately creates a nice even grind and is easy to use.
I have a Baratza grinder at home, plus a hand grinder costing 3 x the price of this so have some use of other grinders to compare. I wanted a hand grinder specifically for my Bialetti Moka Pot for when I go on car trips/camping etc. The Bialetti Moka Pot gives you an optimum extraction with a medium grind, similar to salt they say. I have dialled in the right grind on my home electric grinder which gives me a lovely coffee extraction from my Moka Pot, however the other hand grinder I have is more suited to a finer espresso grind. It is designed to grind for a Moka Pot and it does that very well, the consistency of the grind is perfect from my perspective. This will be a nice addition to my camping coffee kit and means I can have fresh ground just right for my Moka Pot. I have given it a good try out at home before packing into my car/camp coffee gear bag and it performed perfectly. I've added some pictures. If anyone is new to the Moka Pot, watch James Hoffman YouTube on Moka Pot to get the best extraction. You will notice that my 3-Cup Moka Pot is sitting on a small cast iron diffuser plate, that has made a huge difference to a slow extraction, plus the addition of an Aero-Press micro filter paper has resulted in consistent extractions and very nice coffee. So much so, that I tend to use my Moka Pot at home now when I'm on my own, and leave the espresso machine for when I have friends over.
Bought six months ago; used 1-2 times weekly since. Pretty happy overall until last week when the handle sheared off the centre-bolt during normal use. This handle is made of aluminium and is presumably less resistant (than say, steel) to the wear-and-tear placed on it, and has failed by stripping the squared-off hole into a rounded hole over time. Without a newly machined handle the grinder is now useless; I'd be interested to know how many handles fail after a few months of use (after most reviews are written). Shame really, as otherwise a decent product for the price.
I bought this grinder to make fresh grinded coffee powder. After just 4 or 5 uses the top handle that is used to turn the grinder broke off.Moreover the small plastic ring on the bottom, used to allow the grinder to grip to the surface on which it is placed, kept on falling off.Everytime I used the grinder, the coffee power kept sticking everywhere due to statical electricity. It stuck on the grinder's blades and on the plastic container used to collect it.The cap, where the coffee beans are kept before grinding, is made of very soft plastic, which makes it easy to fill but doesn't seal the compartment.If you are looking for a long lasting coffee grinder, choose another one! This here is not durable. I am very disappointed and I asked for a refund.
I bought this as a Xmas present for myself - a bit expensive, but it was Christmas!Likes: it grinds coffee well and is good with my Bialetti stovetop coffee maker. Doesn't take up too much space and looks good.Dislikes: it needs holding firmly (not good for those with poor grip) and very difficult to use on lowest setting.
