Biltwell Gringo SV definitely

For value for money I don’t think you can go wrong with the Biltwell Gringo SV helmet, it’s well made and very comfortable, especially if you follow the Urban Rider sizing
guidelines. The new air vents provide a good amount of ventilation and visor has good strong detents in good positions. The only thing I do notice it is a little bit heavy when
you turn your head quickly to look for traffic bit I am being really picky here. I would definitely recommend it and I would buy another one.

In my humble opinion Biltwell has hit a game winning, walk off grand slam home run with this new helmet! For me it checks every single box of the things I'm looking for in a

gorgeous (I got the gloss black) and the fit and finish are impeccable. I own a lot of helmets from several different manufacturers and some are three times the price of this

I bought this for myself in a size large. I usually wear a large in most other helmets (shoei). My last biltwell I wore an XL but I read this one was a little more oval so I went with
large instead. Well sure enough I should have gotten the XL. It's a really nice helmet though and the new visor latch is improved over the grind s ece I had previously. I didn't
ship it back because it fit my wife great and she really liked the seafoam green color, so she has a new helmet now.

I own several of different Biltwell helmets and they just keep getting better and better impress me more and more with the quality of products they create. the fact that this new Gringo SV meets the new ece 22.06 safety standards is a major bonus. As a public service I will say that it runs a bit small so if you're on the upper end of the size chart you probably need to bump yourself up to the bigger size. I'm normally medium and in fact I originally ordered the medium, but had to exchange for a large. I wanted to add that revzilla customer service is terrific and they were incredibly helpful in making a flawless exchange.Buy this helmet!... Show more

Good looks and protection, otherwise lacking
21 May 2024
I love the look of this helmet and that it meets the latest ECE standard (as of 5/21/2024), but functionally this helmet is not well designed:- The helmet lets in a severe amount of wind, even with the vents and visor closed. Wearing this helmet with the visor closed feels like wearing any other helmet with the visor open - and is practically unusable at highway speeds due to buffeting around the eyes that makes it difficult to see- The locking system of the visor is awkward and makes it difficult to move the visor up smoothly from the closed position- Cheek padding is too high (and large), and is uncomfortable even after broken in- Ear pockets for Bluetooth com systems are too deep, and even with additional padding will be too far from your ears for the best ... MoreI love the look of this helmet and that it meets the latest ECE standard (as of 5/21/2024), but functionally this helmet is not well designed:- The helmet lets in a severe amount of wind, even with the vents and visor closed. Great look but a bit flawed
8 December 2023
Great looking helmet if you ride something retro and has a nice firm face shield you can position where you want but has a few failings compared to other standard, full face helmets. My main gripes are it's very noisy, and lets alot of wind in (fine in the summer not so much when it's cold (even with a baclava)). No pin lock means you need to keep it open at stops.... Show more

Looks great and does the job
28 June 2024
It is awesome looking and does the job well very. I'm usually a medium in most other helmets and I thought about going to a large because all the reviews were telling me to go to the next size up but my head might be an exemption as medium fit me very snug at first but after a few ride it feels right. A couple of my friends who are usually medium tried on my helmet and it had no chance of fitting them so if you are just an average person I would go up a size. I don't really ride that fast but at 50mph the wind noise wasn't bad at all.... Show more

Looks great and fits perfecrly
16 June 2024
This is a beautiful helmet and the cherry red is a stunning colour. I have always worn a small helmet and ended up with a headache on long journeys as size small was a fraction tight and medium a fraction big. The advice that these helmets come up small has resulted in me finding a perfect comfortable fit by choosing medium. I also love the non-fiddly D rings and visor fittings. My husband took one look and has ordered a black one!... Show more

Looks great fit is good
15 September 2023
I'm coming from a Shoei GT Air for reference. Just got back from my first ride with the Biltwell. There's lots of air flow, which is good. I imagine this helmet will get cold. The fit is good. I'm a size large Shoei, picked this up size large and it is nice and snug. The one reason I dinged it a star is the chin bar. It's close to my chin, like my jaw is right there. Pads are good, noise level fine (I wear ear plugs). No fogging issues and never opened my visor (on a 71F degree day with low humidity). I played with the vents, didn't notice a big difference with them open or closed both from a wind flow and noise perspective. The shield stays up very well, closes with a snap but does not seal everything out like my Shoei did, so not sure if rain would sneak in or ... MoreI'm coming from a Shoei GT Air for reference. Shell is a nice size - no bobble head look at all. Feels pretty lightweight. Nice small logo. Vision field is great. For the money this is a very solid deal especially with the ECE rating.... Quality helmet in gorgeous colour.
17 May 2024
Thought I would try a new Gringo SV after reading and watching Urban Riders review and not disappointed at all, it fits very well, usually a Large but review suggested they come up a tad small so ordered an XL and lovely fit. Went for the Candy Red which matches the red and silver of my Triumph T120. I’m one happy chappy and the service from UR is second to none for communication about order and amazingly quick delivery.... Show more

Worst Visor I've Ever Seen
27 April 2024
I don't mean to be too harsh here, but I think I hate this helmet. I ordered a MD because that's what my size is according to the chart, but had to reorder a LG; which is still pretty snug. I'm sure it would soften up over time, but I won't get to that point with this helmet.Somehow the double-D latch they use feels worse than the quick release on my old helmet and is a downright headache. The visor is absolutely terrible. I'm not going to be able to find out if the fogging is really as bad as some say, nor will I be waiting to see if Biltwell releases a pinlock visor. I have to hold the helmet firmly with my right hand to be able to lift the visor up, otherwise I'm literally just tugging on the helmet and nothing happens. I have to hold the helmet firmly with my right hand to be able to lift the visor up, otherwise I'm literally just tugging on the helmet and nothing happens. You can't loosen it with the screws, the moment you turn them they become very rattly and will easily twist themselves out. So it's loud even without wind noise, and hazardous. That alone is a deal breaker for me. Lifting your visor, especially on a helmet prone to fogging, is something that should be doable with one hand. It's a damn shame too because the royal purple looks stunning in person, but the quality is very clearly not there. The edges around the vents are very rough, the chrome trim on the bottom doesn't meet well in the back. The padding is so incredibly rough and the fit is so tight that I was just scraping my cheeks putting it on and taking it off. I know this is a budget helmet, but it's just so weird to me that obvious design flaws-completely unrelated to budget restrictions-were allowed to make it to the final product.... Show more
