This is a chemical sunscreen that gives you a UVA/UVB protection. It has a light, milky texture. I do find that you need to blend it a little more when you have a darker skin. I got tanned quite a bit this summer (especially my arms). I find it that I need to blend it a little more. It’s not sticky but I do find it gives off an oily feeling when it’s hot . It’s nice that it’s a sunscreen you can both use on face and body. It has a scent that not quite pleasing . This sunscreen is formulated for sensitive skin.

I bought this sunscreen because I have really been on the hunt for a good photostable & fragrance-free chemical-based SPF that is hydrating and has good chemical UV filters. I absolutely love that this broad spectrum sunscreen contains both Tinosorb-M and Tinosorb-S as these are amazing stable filters that better protect from harmful UVA rays of all wavelengths. I LOVE everything about this sunscreen. I do wish it was water-resistant but otherwise, it is perfection! Highly Recommend!
Every other tinted spf 50 I've used leaves me orange, this just blends in with very little coverage, I think the tint is there to stop it giving a white cast.It feels almost normal like a moisturiser, even high spf moisturisers feel horrible on my hands after applying but this only feels slightly weird which is amazing considering what it does.I had hoped I would be able to use it on place of moisturiser in the summer but it's not very moisturising, if I'm running late in the morning I still grab my spf20 moisturiser instead. It also makes it difficult if I needed a top up during the day if I was out in strong sun because I feel like two applications without washing and moisturising my face inbetween would be too drying, i'd have to take micellar water with me I ... MoreEvery other tinted spf 50 I've used leaves me orange, this just blends in with very little coverage, I think the tint is there to stop it giving a white cast.It feels almost normal like a moisturiser, even high spf moisturisers feel horrible on my hands after applying but this only feels slightly weird which is amazing considering what it does.I had hoped I would be able to use it on place of moisturiser in the summer but it's not very moisturising, if I'm running late in the morning I still grab my spf20 moisturiser instead. It also makes it difficult if I needed a top up during the day if I was out in strong sun because I feel like two applications without washing and moisturising my face inbetween would be too drying, i'd have to take micellar water with me I think.Unfortunately, even though it's not very moisturising, it does leave my skin looking greasy and very shiny. I was hoping I could use this when getting out of the shower and not use anything else but I find that I use moisturiser or face oil, then this, then a silicone mattifier over the top.I've not tested its ability to protect me from the sun yet as I wouldn't expect to need a high level of protection for another month or two with my skin. My main concern is that it might not cover that well but we'll see.On the plus side, it is the only spf 50 that I can apply on a fresh face without discomfort, bar none. And it's the only spf 50 that doesn't leave my hands feeling really gross after putting it on and I've tried quite a few now. It also doesn't really smell off anything which is a great bonus.
This product offers some of the best UVA protection in the canadian sunscreen market. I generally do not enjoy exclusively mineral sunscreens because they are drying, and it is almost impossible to make mineral sunscreens that are cast-free when applied at the correct amount to achieve the SPF on the bottle (2 mg/cm2). I also find mineral sunscreens harder to wash off. Using nanosized mineral filters can reduce the white cast, and although they are safe ingredients to be used in sunscreen lotions, nanosized TiO2 and ZnO tend to offer less UVA1 protection. ZnO protects against UVA, but it is an inefficient filter, so high concentrations have to be used to achieve decent UVA protection (though it is almost never on par with the UVA protection offered by chemical ... MoreThis product offers some of the best UVA protection in the canadian sunscreen market. I also find mineral sunscreens harder to wash off. Using nanosized mineral filters can reduce the white cast, and although they are safe ingredients to be used in sunscreen lotions, nanosized TiO2 and ZnO tend to offer less UVA1 protection. ZnO protects against UVA, but it is an inefficient filter, so high concentrations have to be used to achieve decent UVA protection (though it is almost never on par with the UVA protection offered by chemical sunscreens). This product has Tinosorb M (bisoctrizole) at a very good concentration, which is a very stable broad-spectrum filter (covers UVB, UVA2, AND UVA1). It remains very effective even at protecting against the broad wavelengths of UVA1 (greater than 380 nm), which is an area that many other UVA1 filters lose effectiveness. It also has avobenzone, which protects against the entire UVA2 and UVA1 range, also at a very effective concentration (5%). It also has Tinosorb S (bemotrizinol) at a high concentration: 2,5% is a very effective concentration because Tinosorb S is a very efficient filter (i.e. it has a high molar extinction coefficient). Tinosorb S is also a broad-spectrum filter, but it is less efficient beyond 380 nm, so it is great that Bioderma decided to combine it with the other 2 UVA filters that cover this area. Octocrylene and Tinosorb stabilise the avobenzone very effectively, so this product offers very reliable and very high UVA protection (PPD 42). The SPF only measures the amount of protection against UVB (which only represents 5% of the UV dose that we are exposed to), so not all SPF 50 products offer the same UVA protection.Octocrylene could sting extremely sensitive eyes, since its concentration is greater than 5%, but this sunscreen could very well be used on the body - this is how I use it. It is a great value considering it is for 100 mL, and many other sunscreens come in 50 mL containers. The Tinosorb M is a hybrid filter that is quite large in size, so it can give a bit of a cast, though I find it less noticeable than that from mineral sunscreens (plus Tinosorb M gives superior UVA protection than mineral filters). If one has very dry skin, the Tinosorb M could exacerbate existing dry patches, but overall I find this vehicle very moisturising. It is fragrance-free, which I look for in all products, but especially sunscreens. I adore this product, and I hope in the future Bioderma decides to expand the Photoderm line in Canada, and release more sunscreen products (like the Photoderm fluide from the french market).
It is more of a serum then a sunscreen cream .It is very liquidy. The only problem is that It only comes in one shade with doesn't go well with my skin tone( I am Mac nc 40 btw) when applied in required quantity. Over the time , it does give a sweaty look but doesn't feel heavy at the same time. Also it doesn't sting my eyes until I rub my eyes quite aggressively. If you are looking for a sunscreen which you can trust blindly with regards to protection against UV, then go for this one. Overall a good sunscreen.
This is the type of sunscreen, not that leaves a white cast, but it comes off in tiny white clumps as you rub it in. I’ve shaken the tube in every which way for five minutes before squeezing out, and it still comes out in your hand in the form of cream in a puddle of oil. I don’t know why it won’t mix. The sun protection is on point though, I’ve not had any hyperpigmentation, nor have I broken out. I wouldn’t purchase again and I prefer their HydraBio SPF 30 cream which doesn’t seem to available anywhere in the UK and why I thought I’d try this one.
I got a sample of this in my last order. I loved it. I am 55 with normal skin. This is thin and as the name suggests, like water in terms of texture. I don't like gloopy SPF and this isn't. I also like to be able to layer with the product pilling - this doesn't pill. And the texture is light enough to go straight in with make up without issues. I would put this on par with Skinceuticals face SPF50. Fabulous.
After researching i was happy with the chemical filters used, & the overall ingredient list - however my skin was not a fan. Upon first applying i felt no irritation, however about a half hour after it began to sting around the eyes - which got uncomfortable enough for me to have to rinse it off my eye area with cold water. Shortly after that the same sting started across my cheeks & i ended up needing to wash it off my entire face; i followed that light face wash with just my everyday moisturizer & still felt slight irritation in the hours following. (i've got dry / sensitive / acne prone skin). Overall, it's really not a bad formula & i understand where the positive reviews are coming from; just didn't work out for my skin type! I would not recommend this sunscreen to anyone sensitive skin - particularly if chemical filters in sunscreens have caused irritation for you in the past. ~ The search for the perfect facial sunscreen continues:)
