Alpenglow 250 is the baby sibling of Alpenglow 500 and interestingly enough, it was inspired by baby lights. Rich in functionality, this lantern is as likely to end up on a picnic table as it is likely to end up on your nightstand at home because we focused on delivering the best quality of light in the lantern category. Bought this cute light and it certainly does light up a dark room even on its dimmest setting. The instructions are easy to understand and the videos were of great help. This light can be of tremendous help if your electricity goes out, as a night light at home or when camping. The technology used in this light is super cool and lets it be much more than just another light for the tent ceiling! It can also recharge other electronics like a cell phone, tablet, blue tooth devices etc. Having alot of fun with this little light!! Seriously, this is the best light I have ever purchased and is so much better than a headlamp or flashlight of any size.

I bought this to replace the biolight powerlight mini that we've had for several years and which we loved! It was small, portable, and light weight and provided lots of light - great for traveling and backpacking. Biolite recommended that I replace it with the AlpenGlow 250 - which is much larger, bulkier, and has unnecessary frills like changing light colours. While my kids love the changing light colours, it is a very disappointing replacement - we'll take this car camping but it's too big to take traveling/backpacking and it doesn't serve the same multiple functions as the mini light which you could clip onto your pocket, bike, or backpack etc. I'd rather have one small light that I can use for everything vs a larger light that I'll only use for car camping.
