Bird House Nesting Box Wood (4 Pcs)

These houses are fantastic for the price. I got them to provide nesting for wrens and chickadees in my yard and I was surprised to have bluebirds nest in them. The wood is hard and thin which makes it a little brittle. There are splits in a couple boxes, but they are all out in the yard and several have been used this year. I only gave them 4 stars because I have my doubts about their longevity even though it's too soon to say for sure.

My bird bird nesting boxes are brilliant. They look nice and are well made. I want to varnish them so they will not only look good in the garden, they will last longer also. I will buy some more very soon. Thank you xx

Decent for the price

Decent price for multiple bird houses. Rather cheaply made but should do the trick. The first thing I did was to adjust the latches, tighten the loose screws on the mounting brackets and then coat them with Marine varnish in the hope that they would last longer.

Hoping that the hole for the tits is small enough that the blue magpies don't destroy their nest

Simple and relatively functional. But the passage (hole) for the Messanges seems a little too large. The Messanges that inhabited our land were chased by the terrible blue magpies. I bought these little houses so that they would be safe from their enemies, the magpies that invade the land. Only these magpies are not very big, and I am afraid that they can also enter these nests. We will see ... For now I hang them.

It's basic, but it works

Considering the price, which is more than attractive, you get 4 well presented birdhouses. The mounting hole on the back ina a little big, so you'll need to use a washer. There is a flap on the front for easy cleaning. I drilled a hole through the bottom and added a layer of tar to the roof to increase the birdhouses' lifespan, as the wood is very soft. Placed about 3 or 4 m up on birch trees, they are currently awaiting their new hosts.

Packed well. Arrived sooner than expected. Time will tell on durability or a 1 time purchase. Not as sturdy as other bird houses purchased prior, but giving it a chance to perform.

I liked the simplicity of these unobtrusive, functional birdboxes. We intended to make some, so priced the materials needed to make similar boxes to replace some of our weather warn ones. The result was that these were cheaper. The natty method used to hinge and open the front was particularly clever I thought. These boxes are not going to last more than about 5yrs in our weather I reckon, but since they generally need changing after at most 5yrs anyway, it isn't a problem. I would definitely recommend purchasing these if you are after a simple, functional bird box. It's worth mentioning too that the hole size is small, ideal for Blue-tits and wrens, (& bees!!). These are such very well made birdhouses, I know they will last a long time. Looking at them, you can see that the edges are all straight and well joined. I'm sure that the unfinished wood will weather to a nice grey over time and because the roof is painted, it will easily shed the rain. Great Value !

Sparrows were squabbling over one

Sparrows were squabbling over one of these houses within minutes of it going up. These are a good value for the price. When the birds move in, the twigs push the bottom of the front open. Tacking a little nail in place solved it. Still good houses, suitable for a variety of species. Enlarge or block the hole for choosy birds.

Well made. No way to clean.

This is you typical bluebird house. The opening is the correct 1/2 inch. There is no easy way to clean this bird house without taking it apart. I always say I'm going to clean them. Then, do not. Can't make it for what I paid for them, especially with today's wood prices.
