I have been looking for a Birk with a more burlier sole. Another Birk brand, Petula, used to make one with a very similar sole design. So thrilled they brought the "off-road" Birks back!The price is steep, but I love them.
This was the perfect second one that I bought, the first one was a little too big, then I saw this one and got it in a smaller size and it was a perfect fit and the style is great
Love these even more than the regular Arizona sandals. They don't have the soft footbed like the regular Arizonas but they stay on your foot better and look much more sporty. Definitely my favorite shoe right now.
I really wanted to like these-- I've been a decades-long wearer of Birkentsock Arizona's, Zurichs, and Bostons, and was excited to see an "all terrain" version for wear. The fit has always remained true in these models (I wear a size 46). However, the foot bed in the Arizona CT is much wider, particularly in the heel and metatarsal sections.The extra traction does me no good when my foot is swimming around in the sandle. If you have a wide heel and foot, or flatter foot, perhaps they will work for you. I tried them for a few days and I'm really glad I got them from REI due to their outstanding return policy.
The Birkenstock Arizona arrived quickly. It is well made and quite comfortable, needed only minimal break-in. The fit is medium to wide which is very comfortable.I recommend this product.
As I wear a US 11.5. I used the supplied size chart. Which said I should order a 44. When the shoes arrived and I tried them on. I had to check and make sure I hadn't by accident ordered a pair of snow shoes. They were that big. Sent them back and went with the 43's/US10. Still too big. So it's now down to ordering a 42/US9. That is simply unacceptable.Birkenstock seems to be making up numbers at random. Which makes it hard when one is not near a large REI store that even carries the new(ish) Arizona rugged CT model.
I have 5 pair of the regular Arizonas that I love and I wanted to give these a try. The sizing is off and they are not comfortable at all. I wanted to like them, but I they will be returned.
