I started climbing about 2 months ago and got one of the beginner harnesses (also Black Diamond). It's not a bad harness, but I want something with improved adjustability. After browsing the BD site, I came across the Momentum 4S. From the pictures it looked exactly like what I was looking for.I ordered it and it came the following week. I've climbed (top rope) with it once so far and I love it. It has the following pros:- Comfy-Supportive- Padded in all the right places- Secure- Plenty of equipment loops- Easy on/off cinch straps- Overall fit is perfectThe only downside I have is not with the harness itself, but more on the website...it would be nice to have another pic of the backside of the harness, but other than that, I love this one!

This is the first "real" harness I have used, besides the one-size-fits-most rentals & the harnesses you find at summer camps. It feels like a great quality and is very comfortable to wear. The quick adjust on the leg loops is super easy and nice. My only complaint is that I felt like the padding, while providing comfort, also didn't breathe as well and therefore found myself getting warmer and sweatier than I have previously experienced in other harnesses. Otherwise I think this is great and I'm pumped to have my first harness! (couldn't beat the price on this in the outlet either)

This is a very weird fitting harness. I have 29inch waist so based on the size guide, purchased the Medium, which should allow a little wiggle room. The waist fits great. However the leg loop sizes are TINY in comparison. They are uncomfortably tight and have only maybe an inch of adjustment on them. The next size up would have meant at the smallest size, the waist would be 3 inches too large, so, not safe to climb in. The ill fitting leg loops, (hardly any slack on the adjuster loops) means the harness pulls down on the front and is very uncomfortable when on Belay. (Although is fine for climbing)If you are curvy athletic (muscular legs and thinner waist) you’re going to struggle with the fit of this harness, which is a real shame as I feel it could be Perfect ... MoreThis is a very weird fitting harness. My waist is in the S-M range, closer to S but too large for an exclusively S size harness. Thus I need a harness that includes the M range. This results in using almost all of the adjustment range to reduce the waist down to a safe fitting. With harnesses with a single buckle adjustment cinching in the waist band results in the belay loop and tie-in points being move away from the centre of my body. This can be fixed by rotating the harness around my waist, but then the gear loops are in awkward positions. With this 2-buckle harness I get a comfortable and secure fit with the belay loop, tie-in points, and gear loops aligned properly.
I enjoy having the large degree of adjustability. I can loan it to any of my friends with varying body types and all of them can use it just as well. It is plenty comfortable for sport climbing and would be fine for trad as long as you won't need to hang for a super long time. I found I could sit in it for about 15-20 minutes before I had any issues. Overall, I think this is a really great harness for beginners with a wide range of applications that eliminates most of the guesswork surrounding harness sizing. I would reccommend the Momentum 4s for sure!
So far, I love the quality of everything! I received a charcoal chalk bag, which I love better than the aqua/teal color in the photo. I'll be trying out my new gear tonight, and I am stoked! It's a great deal, although including an auto-locking carabiner and the twist-locking would be cool. I ended up buying a separate auto-locking carabiner, which is fine! This is a great deal for beginners or anyone who wants a matching set and is "for everyone." I almost wish there were more orange accessories since the screw on the carabiner is orange. Anyway, good quality, and I am thrilled with my purchase! I ordered the XL just to be safe, and I usually wear L-XL in clothing, and it's perfect!
I've been using this harness for indoor climbing for about two years and have had no issues with it. Great quality and longevity: I top rope at few times a month and there still is no noticeable depreciation. I appreciate how this harness fits my body and is adjustable, as I am bigger than the average climber (I'll generally wear women's L-XL in REI brands). The loops are great: My lower waist area doesn't comfortably fit most belts for chalk bags, but I can easily attach my chalk bag with a carabiner. Really comfortable, and I don't really notice any discomfort from the harness at all while climbing, even when resting mid-air in the middle of the route. My only qualm is sometimes the belt itself can get kind of sweaty when the gym is hot because it's heavily padded.
The women’s harness I got works fine and is completely functional, but doesn’t fit quite right. For reference, I am a curvy woman with large hips and thighs but an average waist size. This harness is too big for me in the waist and slightly too small for me in the thighs. However, because of this I don’t think there is a size that will fit me correctly. Additionally, I wish the loop that connects the waist band to the leg hole was a little bit longer because I would like the harness to fit higher on my waist and lower on my thighs.
If I could file for assault charges, I would. I’m new. I’ve been belaying for two weeks. This harness has been holding me up, so imagine my surprise, when the only thing that’s been holding me up is Jesus Christ. The hoop DOESNT go through both hard points. Only one. The people at the gym with 10+ years experience said they’ve never seen anything like this. I will be calling during open hours for a full refund. I will send back the harness, but I don’t think it’s fair to pay shipping back when I was failed to be protected by an admire rocking climbing company who doesn’t double check the product that is holding up people in the air. I added pictures of my harness, and what’s it suppose to look like.
This is a great harness for indoor climbers. I climb indoors frequently and wanted to upgrade from using rentals at the gym. This harness is very comfortable for long sessions. The gear loops are exactly where I would want them, and I like that they are more rigid than fabric gear loops. The easy leg adjustment slider provides lots of sizing flexibility. The tie-in loops are easy to pass a rope through, and I remain upright during lowering in this harness.
