Ordered it in September and got it in December. Works as advertised, although adds some bulk to the camera, but is a great addition for anything longer than a 30 minute shoot. A few things to be aware of. It won't work until you load the latest firmware on both the 4K and 6K. It doesn't say anywhere, except on the box that it only uses Sony style L batteries, number F570. Since B&H doesn't have much of a choice , I went to Amazon and ordered the Kastar F570 kit, 2900 ma. It has 2 batteries and a charger; order 2 sets cause they're cheap and that way you can charge both batteries at once and also have a spare set. All in all, it's a necessary investment to get some quality battery life from the cameras and well worth the cost.

On the plus side this improves battery life from a little over ½ hour for the stock battery to almost 2 hours. On the minus side the attachment to the camera feels a little loose and the pull out battery tray is awkward. I prefer the Canon design where you can pull the batteries out directly and individually, even when the camera is running.

So glad I got this. I only got it after Smallrig released a cage for it. Prior to that it would have fallen over due to Blackmagics consistent lack of planning. But now, with the cage the grip totally works and makes sense.

Honestly there isn’t much to say, it’s a battery grip. It fits securely, looks good on the Pocket, and most importantly, it gave me 2 hours of continuous recording with a pair of batteries that were cheaper than a single Canon LP-E6.The battery door is a little loose on mine but other than that it works flawlessly. Love the built in storage slot for the original battery door.
Like any owner of a Blackmagic Pocket 6k camera I too have been continually frustrated by the internal power options the camera comes with. You can only swap out the canon batteries so many times a day before you start seriously thinking about other power options to keep the camera going as and when needed. There are plenty of alternatives available right here on B&H for powering the camera but the battery grip from Blackmagic Design themselves is actually a very smart and very effective solution. If you want to get your camera set up and going in as little time as possible (using the grip is almost as fast as inserting a canon battery into the camera) and enjoy at least 3x the battery life you had before this is the option you should select. This is not the ... MoreLike any owner of a Blackmagic Pocket 6k camera I too have been continually frustrated by the internal power options the camera comes with. This is not the solution to end all solutions and if you still need more power for monitors and other accessories it is worth investigating a V-Mount adapter as an option but for fast set up run and gun filmmaking this is a great addition to your camera kit and super easy to select and buy through the B&H site.
I like this device very much because it permits me to film for long periods of time without changing batteries. The only negative about it is this: It takes batteries of a completely different size and type from the BMPCC 4K. So when you buy it remember to also buy the kind of batteries needed for this device otherwise it wont be usable. The BMPCC 4K takes the exact same batteries that the Canon EOS R uses which is GREAT because I also own that camera. But for this particular device youll need completely different batteries. Aside from that, its absolutely amazing.
While I couldn't wait for stock at B&H, I finally got my hands on this grip and it's exactly what I wanted: A sleek, purpose built grip that accommodates the camera and gives me the freedom to walk around without worrying about the short battery life of the standard LP-E6 batteries.I have tons of inexpensive DSTE batteries and I'm happy to report I get over 2 hours with them in this grip based on my initial test. This works better for me than a camera mounted battery or rigged out V-Mount since I can carry several small NP-F550s and switch it out very quickly. The included tray slides out easily and the batteries snap in and come out very easily. The bottom has two 1/4-20 mounts so you can also attach a tripod plate securely to this grip without any ... MoreWhile I couldn't wait for stock at B&H, I finally got my hands on this grip and it's exactly what I wanted: A sleek, purpose built grip that accommodates the camera and gives me the freedom to walk around without worrying about the short battery life of the standard LP-E6 batteries.I have tons of inexpensive DSTE batteries and I'm happy to report I get over 2 hours with them in this grip based on my initial test. I’ve seen countless rigs with V mount batteries, power solutions, etc. However this is by far the best of them all since the rest seem too cumbersome. 2 hours of running time with a couple Watson batteries. Just get 6 of those and you’re more than fine for the day. Stop complaining about having to swap batteries. It takes no more than 10 seconds. I’m waiting for the smallrig cage design of this camera with the BG.
what a waste of time. first, I had to buy new batteries for it because for some reason the battery pack doesn’t take the original bmpcc4k batteries (thanks for making that apparent b&h), and then once I got them it turns out the actual battery pack worked defective. not sure if it was the battery pack or the batteries, I tried to reach out to b&h for replacement batteries/battery pack, but all I got was a snobby response email and nothing else. Never buying from b&h ever again. Hope people see this.
if you already making an external battery and add extra weight and size to your camera, you would expect at least to get nice amount of running time, not the case, this thing fully charged with 2 npf 550 will not give you more then hour an half of running time where you can get the sony BP adapter and get over 2.5 hours.overall good idea, nice built quality but again, used the wrong batteries.
