Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2

$2,672.70

(55 reviews)

With the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2, you can take razor-sharp videos for television or social media. The camera has a large Super 35 HDR sensor, so your images don't have much crop. You record in 6K resolution with maximum 60 fps. This allows you to capture smooth images of moving subjects, for example during a sports match. You can slow down the action images to sharp slow motion images in the replay. Thanks to the dynamic range of 13 stops and the maximum ISO value of 25,600, you can capture clear recordings in dark settings. For example, you can record a reportage late at night. You use your photo and video lenses with EF mount on this video camera. This allows you to choose from different lenses and you can easily switch from focal length. During a long recording day, you can use the camera both on the battery and via a power cord.

I already have one of these from early last year and it's been the perfect A camera for anything I throw at it. Totally worth the money for the capabilities of this compared to the competition. The image and the dual ISO is amazing and now having two of these for corporate shoots and live events (if you us a ATEM mini) is a winning budget combination.Only downside is that they artificially locked out BRAW recording in 4K, would've been nice when I don't want to record in 6K to safe space on an external 1TB Samsung T5 SSD but I rarely fill that up in a given day.Definitely recommend this to people getting started/either this or the 4K version however you do give up the EF Canon Mount option, which for me is a must.

For such an advanced product that brags about its stunning stills and has a whole sections about its stills on a website Id expect a freaking preview option for the stills. It even has a stills button. Listen I know it’s primary purpose is filming. But when you have a stills button and brag about of stills on your website as well as costing 2k you should have a simple function like this. Also it doesn’t allow you to directly delete footage that you have already recorded. Just accidentally recorded 5minutes of the ground? whelp It’s on there until you format the card or transfer the data off.

Only the second time using the camera in our studio and the screen went haywire. Horizontal lines all over. shop refused to allow a return After less than a month. The best Cinema camera it should be in discussions with the Red and ARRI. Paired best with a full frame lens the super 35 sensor will not give edge distortion when paired with a full frame lens. The weight is very bearable. Functionality is definitely that of cinema quality.

Happy customer
25 May 2020

I am very pleased with the 6K and monitor kit. It took sometime to get used to all of the buttons and features as would any new camera system. It produces great images and has worked well with Premiere Pro. I have not used Davinci Resolve yet, but will begin to use that for color correction as soon as I feel comfortable. Buy external batteries. The small batteries won't cut it. The Atomos monitor has been nice. Still getting used to it. I purchased the Samsung T5 SSD and it has been excellent. I combined that with a Tilta cage and it fits very well.

I own the BMPCC6K and BMPCC4K, this is the perfect upgrade
24 September 2022

I was stuck, didn't want to go for the BMPCC6K Pro because I don't use internal ND Filters, I prefer to use my Tilta Matte Box with Variable ND Filters and on Gimbal I like using my Variable ND Filters that are threaded.I wanted the larger battery, and tilt screen and this fit my needs exactly. The image quality out of this camera matches up perfectly with my 4K and 6K Pocket Cameras and even matches up with my BMD 4.6K Pro when I change to V5 and add my Buttery Luts (Very little grading needed occasionally)Either way as a person who has multiple camera packages BMD has been at the top of their game lately and I am sure they will eventually put out the Box Camera we have all been waiting for, but until that time for $2000 you really cannot go wrong with BRAW ... MoreI was stuck, didn't want to go for the BMPCC6K Pro because I don't use internal ND Filters, I prefer to use my Tilta Matte Box with Variable ND Filters and on Gimbal I like using my Variable ND Filters that are threaded.I wanted the larger battery, and tilt screen and this fit my needs exactly. The image quality out of this camera matches up perfectly with my 4K and 6K Pocket Cameras and even matches up with my BMD 4.6K Pro when I change to V5 and add my Buttery Luts (Very little grading needed occasionally)Either way as a person who has multiple camera packages BMD has been at the top of their game lately and I am sure they will eventually put out the Box Camera we have all been waiting for, but until that time for $2000 you really cannot go wrong with BRAW and ProRes Codecs that this camera offers in up to 6K resolution and 1250 ISO for Low Light provides no noise.I can live without AutoFocus, IBIS, etc. (Although they do have sensor Gyro data now with the new firmware)This smokes my friends cameras (FX3, FX6, Canon C70, etc.) and keeps up with the commercial shoots where we are using the Komodo. If you know your tools this camera is the absolute best option on the market for internal Raw 6K at this price.

I really love these cameras
10 October 2022

If you want a really really solid cinema style camera you really can't beat this. The picture this camera produces is absolutely beautiful. On top of that the menu is easy to navigate and the camera itself is really reliable both physically and with its performance. There are a ton of super convenient features you get with this camera and of course it's always nice that Blackmagic ships these with a license for the full version of Davinci Resolve. Don't be mistaken, this is not really a good hybrid shooter. It's mainly for video and with that said there is no IBIS and the battery life is not great but that's to be expected from a cinema camera. But really, if you know this is the sort of camera you're wanting to get then you really really can't go wrong. For those wondering if they want a 4k or the 6k Pro or even an Ursa...I bought the original 4k and even though I will always love it, I did buy a metabones speed booster and at that point I should've just gotten the 6k...but the 6k didn't exist at that time. If you aren't sure if you need an ursa or not then you probably don't need an ursa and for the price the 6k G2 will still produce one of the most beautiful pictures you'll see at a fraction of the size and cost.

Incredible Value!

Great value! Comes with a free $300 license for Da Vinci Resolve studio. I heard they used this cam to shoot a few scenes in Better Call Saul. The colors are fantastic without grading and Resolve opens the doors to making Hollywood grade films. Below is my recommended essentials for this camera. I have tested them all on this specific camera.https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1512587-REG/blackmagic_design_batt_npf570_cam_li_ion_2000mah_replacement_battery.htmlhttps://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/967344-REG/sigma_18_35mm_f1_8_dc_hsm.htmlhttps://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1432552-REG/peak_design_cl_3_clutch_hand_strap_quick_attaching.htmlhttps://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1502909-REG/silicon_power_sp256gicfx311nv0_256gb_cf_card_x310.html

Terrific entry cinema camera.
2 November 2020

Excellent video camera. Great color and image. Lifelike skin tones. The braw codec is excellent. A great combination of file size and flexibility in post.Very intuitive workflow on the camera. Everything is laid out in a way that any setting is easily accessible. Adjustments on the fly are fast and easy. No guessing.Overall terrific product. Highly recommended if you want to shoot in 6K.The only downside is that braw is only available in 6K, and you have to use prores in 4K. Understandable that they don’t want a direct competitor to their own BMPCC 4K, but it would be a welcome feature when shooting in 4K.

The perfect ground rig...at an insane price.
30 June 2020

An absolutely fantastic setup, we are normally BnH customers but they didn’t have this in stock. So happy with the customer service and fast shipping. The unit itself is awesome, does everything we need it to do and so much more. Now we are excited to try different lenses and some cini glass. We have owned several Black Magic cams in the past but this one is the best. Recording to an SSD 2 terabyte drive and powered with a x lion battery lets us film most of the day. We have a production company in Key West FL. This unit will get used several times a week for sure.thanks
