It's sougly about the size of a seasoning container, or a small candle. It's lightweight and doesn't need much adhesion or force to stay put. We easily zip tied ours to give it extra stability. It requires a high speed internet connection, a wireless network (2.4 Ghz 802. 11 b/g/n), and a cell phone. These are compatible with IOS, Android, or Fire OS. The box itself it only about 5" x 4" x 2", and inside you will find the camera itself, the stand it sits on, 2 screws for mounting, an indoor power adapter, and one usb-c cable that's 6.5ft long. The resolution is very clear, and it comes with motion sensing capabilities, and audio/video not only notifies you but can record as well. The camera is a sleek white color, with a matte finish, perfect for discrete home or office security. This device costs $49.98 from Amazon's website, and can be purchased in full home security bundles, depending on your needs. The camera works excellently, has a variety of modern and high tech features, is weather resistant, can be hooked up through your phone, and is what i would say extremely affordable. I reccomend this for homeowners, parents, teachers, office workers, small businesses, or anyone who would like an extra layer of security. I would like to extend my gratitude and thanks to both Amazon and Influenster for the oppurtunity to be a part of this campaign, and am very happy with the results Blink Mini 2 has accomplished. 10 out of 10 reccomend!!!... My main system it the Eufy’s setup. I prefer it because all my recordings are stored locally on a device located within my home which means no monthly subscription fees, plus the outdoor cameras are wireless giving me added flexibility. My second system is tied to my actual home security system with SimpliSafe, and those cameras activate when I arm my system from a keypad. However, Simplisafe is not a free service and does have a monthly cost associated with it.While the Blink Mini 2 is a wired home security camera, it offers the flexibility of functioning locally (all recordings saved to a device in your home) like my Eufy system, or with a monthly subscription that saves your video recordings to the cloud, like my SimpliSafe system. Both options will cost you some money, because unfortunately the Blink Mini 2 does not have an SD card ports or any USB slots directly on the device for local storage. That means you have the following options:1) You’ll need to buy a $50 accessory called a Sync Module 2, plus a flash/hard drive for storing the recordings locally. The Sync Module 2 will allow you to capture from several devices, not just the one camera. That means you can add more devices later on if you want.2) You can pay a minimum of $3 per camera a month for the luxury of saving your recordings to Amazon’s cloud. There are more plans that bundle some devices/camera costs together for a little savings though. But it is an ongoing cost to consider.3) Or you can simply live without either of the two above options and you’ll simply get motion alerts sent to your phone, you can then pop into the app to view the live video feed at any time. But you won’t have the ability to record any activity. So, this unit has flexibility going for it. As for streaming video quality, I think it’s good for such a small unit. I’d compare it to the quality of my other cameras. Eufy has some higher end camera offerings on the market for far greater initial up-front investment, and some of those options give you wireless flexibility. However, at $39.99 this little camera itself, a $50 Sync Module 2, and a $20 flash drive, well for a grand total of about $110 you have yourself the start of a full security system that you can add additional Blink cameras to.As for app quality, all these systems have a very similar layout: a few tabs at the bottom of the app for viewing live Device feeds, a timeline of past recordings, and various settings for the cameras and app itself. Nothing blew me out of the water about the Blink app. It was instantly familiar. One thing I did find it frustrating is that it appeared as though you cannot arm a camera, meaning activate motion detection & recording, on an individual basis, rather, the whole system (assuming you had more than 1 camera) can be activated as a whole. Which seems weird if I have several cameras for inside and outside my house that I want to be used for different monitoring purposes. All in all, this is a decent offering in a competitive landscape of home security cameras. There are a ton of options that all offer similar user experiences, so find one you like and go with it. That said, Blink is a compelling contender at a reasonable price, so long as you go with the up-front cost of adding local storage option. Otherwise, the costs can add up over time.... Show more

The built-in spotlight enhances the night vision capability, allowing me to see clear, colorful images even in low light conditions—a significant improvement over typical black-and-white night vision. The broader field of view covers more area, which is excellent for monitoring larger outdoor spaces. The two-way audio feature is also crisp and clear, enabling me to communicate easily with anyone near the camera without any noticeable lag. However, there are a few downsides to consider. First, while the camera is relatively affordable, full functionality depends on additional purchases, like the outdoor power adapter and a paid Blink subscription plan for enhanced video storage and intelligent notification features. This can add up, making it more expensive in the long run. Also, the dependency on a strong Wi-Fi connection for optimal performance may not be the best choice in areas with weaker internet service. The Blink Mini 2 is a solid choice for a versatile and effective home security solution. Its easy setup and excellent video quality make it a valuable addition to home security efforts. Just be mindful of the additional costs for outdoor use and subscription services necessary to unlock its capabilities.... Show more

This is a nice size small, good looking camera. Can’t believe it can be use inside or outdoors being so small but it works. It was simple to install it. This is my first Blink camera so I had to download the app, from there it only took a few minutes until I could start using the camera. It comes with the camera, screws to mount the camera, the usb cable and surprisingly the wall block is also included. That hasn’t been the case for many items I’ve purchase lately, they haven’t come with the wall block. The camera is very flexible in that it can rotate it many directions on the stand. The picture is nice and clear. The night vision works even in complete darkness. But I also like the spotlight option. I tried to use this inside one of my windows facing the porch and it was able to pick up movements on the porch. It also has the option of having the spotlight on, having it come on when it senses motion or turn it off. There is also a blue status LED light that originally stayed on, it took me a few minutes to find out that I can set it to turn off, stay on always or for it to turn on when it’s recording. The app comes with most features I would expect. It comes with a free trial subscription for 30 days. I’m still trying to understand the features that we can use with and without the subscription. To my understanding, once the trial is over, if I cancel the subscription I won’t have person detection and I won’t have recording of events. Or the other option is for me to purchase a blink sync module where I can put usb so it can record and I can watch videos recording of events. So it seems that I can only watch videos in realtime if I don’t keep paying for the subscription or purchase the module. For this reason, I will probably look at other cameras where I can watch recording events even if it’s for a short time without paying extra for my next camera purchase. To me, I feel as a busy working person, what are the chances that I will watch the live feed at just the right time. It doesn’t make sense to me that I have to pay for any recorded events. It’s possible that I’m not understand this correctly but I looked at the Blink info over and over. The subscription fee is pretty reasonable though, so I’m not thrilled but not too upset about it. So I won’t renew the subscription after the trial ends right away, I want to see if my understand is correct and then I might consider renewing it because it’s not too much but well see. It works well with my Amazon screen.... Show more

[Rewarded Review] Good entry-level motion camera;great video quality
23 April 2024
-- SUMMARY:--This is a good entry-level motion camera with good video detail even in the dark. The two-way audio communication and ability to turn on/off a built-in light are welcome features. The main drawback I find is that it does not record videos for as long as there’s motion. Instead, it only records snippets of videos with at least a 10-second “pause/retrigger” time in between.-- THE GOOD: --- Fantastic video quality when there’s light, and pretty good quality in the dark (black and white videos)- Ability to configure whether the built-in light turns on upon motion detection and how long to stay on (up to 10 minutes). This allows recording color at night instead of black and white videos.- Early notification. I like that this camera sends an alert almost as soon as it detects motion. If you press on the notification while the video clip is still being recorded (or within 5 seconds after it completes recording), it will take you to a “Live View Session” which allows you to see what is happening in real-time and to interact with whoever triggered the motion detection via the two-way voice.IMPORTANT: Make sure to click on the “Save” button BEFORE ending the Live session or otherwise no clip will be saved from the moment the live session was started.- “Flip Video” setting: This is super handy when mounting the camera upside down (for example, next to or below the ceiling-mounted garage door opener). Enabling this option allows for the video to be recorded flipped so it doesn’t look upside down. My older battery-powered Blink cameras do not have this setting.- Photo Capture: This is an on/off setting that, when enabled, the camera takes a photo once per hour when “armed”. I find this very useful because when opening the Blink app, the thumbnail you see is at most 1-hr old. This allows you to quickly see if there’s something suspicious (in case the photo shows something unexpected). In my older battery-powered Blink cameras, this setting doesn’t exist. That means that when opening the Blink app, the thumbnail that you see is an “old” one, which could make you believe everything is in order when it might not be the case.-- DRAWBACKS: --- No continuous recording. Only a max of 30-second video clips (minimum of 5 seconds) and a minimum retrigger time of 10 seconds (max of 60 seconds). This is my main complaint. There’s no way to set the camera to continue recording while there’s motion. That means that in the event of someone stealing something, for example, it will only capture a snippet of video, then nothing for at least 10 seconds before recording again. This is not ideal if the intended use is for security and potentially sharing videos with the authorities. In my case, I had an older battery-powered model of a Blink camera in my garage. When I opened the garage door, someone came in immediately and stole a bike. The older model took a few seconds to detect the motion. That meant missing the moment the person got into the garage and the recording started when the individual was no longer facing the camera. Then some events happened that I wish were recorded, but recording stopped for 10 seconds before recording another clip, missing crucial moments. I believe the motion detection is faster in this mini blink 2 camera. However, I was hoping I could configure it to continuously record while there’s motion without having to wait 10 seconds in between video clips. Alternatively, I wish it could record more than a max of 30 seconds at a time. Unfortunately, this is not the case.- Live session default is to Not save the video session. I would have preferred that live sessions are automatically recorded by default. Instead, you have to remember to click on the “Save” button BEFORE the live session ends. This is particularly annoying when receiving an Early Motion Notification and tapping on the notification, which will end the video recording and start a live session. If you forget to click on “Save”, you risk losing important video footage.... Show more

I did discover there are instructions however it was after setting up the camera and already mounting it outdoors. More on that later. The setup process was straightforward, before deciding on mounting, I plugged it in and started the setup process. Creating a Blink account and connecting the system to my Wi-Fi was seamless. The app shows the network strength of the device and according to the app it’s ‘strong’.Before mounting, I tested the camera and there was noticeable latency within the app. It took approximately 2 to 5 seconds for the app to display movements compared to real-time actions. I assumed this was just initial jitters, but after mounting the camera, rebooting everything the latency persisted. I think this delay might be a minor inconvenience in most situations but a bigger issue if you intend to use it for two-way communication. The latency persisted regardless of the quality setting (Standard, Saver, or Best). For mounting, Blink assumes a basic level of mounting knowledge, which is understandable given its straightforward nature. However, not everyone may possess such knowledge, particularly for indoor/outdoor mounting. The kit however does include some basic anchors and screws. Along with some wire mounting screws and clips.I wish the app inquired about the intended use of the camera and provided mounting instructions through an OPTIONAL tutorial or directed users to the app's Help section for additional information and mounting instructions. This way the user knows there’s resources that can be explored. While I was planning the installation, I accidentally dropped the camera from a short distance, causing the mounting portion to detach from the camera. Surprisingly, I discovered two mounting options, one for the back and one for the bottom. It would have been helpful to have a tutorial explaining these options from the beginning. But this worked out in my favor because I actually was struggling to figure out how to get it the way I wanted with mounting it from the bottom which is how it came from Blink. This is explained in the help section of the app, but at the time I had no idea it was a thing.Once it was all set up, I planned on integrating it with my Amazon Echo Show. The Echo didn't automatically detect the camera which I found strange, but adding the Skill and signing into my Blink account was super easy.Using voice commands to display the backyard footage on the Echo Show worked well and worked as you’d expect it to. I didn’t have any issues integrating it to my smart home.In conclusion, while the Blink Mini 2 has some minor drawbacks, it's still a solid choice for anyone looking for an exterior camera. It's user-friendly and provides good video quality and is a great addition to my home. Now I can watch the kiddos outside and know if my dog wants to come inside with a simple notification.... These features are particularly beneficial for outdoor use, where lighting conditions can vary. For those considering advanced monitoring, the Blink Mini 2 offers person detection through the optional Blink Subscription Plan. This plan enhances the camera's capabilities by differentiating between people and other objects or animals, adding an extra layer of security and intelligence to the system. The integration with Alexa allows for seamless control and interaction with the camera, making it a convenient choice for smart home enthusiasts. The ability to stream live video, arm and disarm the camera, and set up Alexa Routines adds to the user-friendly experience. While the camera itself is a robust offering, it's important to note that features like person detection, continuous live streaming, and cloud storage require a separate Blink Subscription Plan. However, the camera comes with a 30-day free trial of the plan, providing an opportunity to explore these additional features. The option to save clips locally with the Sync Module 2 is a great option, catering to those who prefer local storage over cloud-based solutions. The Blink Mini 2's construction from 10% recycled materials and its 100% recyclable packaging further emphasize its eco-friendly approach. In summary, the Blink Mini 2 camera, especially when used outdoors with the weather-resistant adapter, provides a comprehensive and user-friendly security solution. Its quick boot-up, wide field of view, night vision capabilities, and smart detection features, combined with the flexibility of storage options and smart home integration, make it a solid choice for anyone looking to enhance their home security system.... [Rewarded Review] Nice generational jump from Blink Mini 1
4 April 2024
First, lets set expectations for the hardware, the Blink Mini 2 - Indoor/Outdoor Wired 1080p Security Camera is a pretty cool compact surveillance camera. While connectivity to your network is wireless, it does require a power connection so this does limit where you can put it. When using outdoors you need to purchase the optional weather resistant power adapter which features a flat 13ft cord. This second-generation camera is an improvement over the previous Blink Mini 1 camera which seemed more square with glossy plastic. The Mini 2 version has smoothed corners and fits into a mount which can be used as a stand or a mounted on a surface. The mobile app is decent but not the most intuitive or user friendly Unfortunately unlike some other camera there is no smart sound detection features (like detecting a fire alarm, barking or meowing of pets). The video quality at its best setting yields good 1080P HD video in decent light, at night it also has a small LED which can act as a spotlight, providing grainy but good color night vision. Now to the negatives, the device seems to lean heavily on upselling of their cloud services. With some features like live view recording and person detection (although generic motion detection is present) absent without a subscription, however at three dollars a month (a free 30 day trial is included) it is more reasonable than the latest Arlo cameras and even its cousin the Ring line up of cameras (both Ring and Blink are owned by Amazon). The setup experience required a mobile phone and was fairly easy with a QR code used for setup. You must create a Blink account if you don’t already have one. Luckily, I still run 2.4ghz on my wireless router in addition to the now more common and modern 5ghz band, as this camera requires the older frequency, not a problem if your run dual bands, but some people don’t. In any case I did not have any issues streaming video at the lower throughput provided by 2.4ghz Wi-Fi.You can subscribe to their cloud services for online video storage, but if you want to store video locally you can purchase the Sync Module 2 where you can plug in a USB flash drive (256GB max). That device functions differently based on if you have a cloud subscription or not. But you can avoid subscription charges with the Sync Module and directly record video to the hub.As for configuration options there are many including motion detection sensitivity, configurable detection and no video recording zones (you can specify for example to not detect or record motion on portions of the camera view that may be private). Two-way audio is standard and it works well.>>> Pros >> Good 1080p video and sound, no issues streaming >> Compact and well built >> Decent mounting options >> Can save video locally with the addition of the Sync Module 2 and a flash drive. <<< Cons: << Cloud Subscription required for certain detection and configuration settings and live view recording. << 2.4ghz Wi-Fi connectivity only.... [Rewarded Review] NOT Outdoor Ready Out Of The Box! & Not That Great

The benefits listed are not available just because the camera was purchased…other purchases for accessories and subscriptions ARE REQUIRED to access the “New Features” that this camera advertises. Too many non-included extras are needed to make this work to its potential and that REALLY INFURIATES ME!This is NOT AN OUTDOOR CAMERA WITH WHAT COMES IN THE BOX! A Separate purchase must be made to buy a Separate Cord that is “Water resistant” and provides a longer reach and even though it is longer than the INDOOR ONLY CORD that comes with the camera, it is still too short, in my opinion. The SEPARATE Outdoor Cord has a Huge “box” along its length that needs to be hidden, stored or mounted somewhere where water doesn’t puddle. The end that plugs into the camera provides a tight seal to keep moisture out. That same end is built as a 90° plug & due to the size and shape of it it is impossible to fish into conduit of normal size to further protect it from the elements, damage and vandalism. Although it is longer than the cord that actually comes with the camera it is still too short for many outdoor applications & there’s that large “box” built-in the cord to still contend with. In fact, even the “indoor” cord is too short & this camera suffers from the same as all the other BLINK MINI Cameras in that I would need to purchase a longer cord for use indoors and the “longer” cord now available for outdoor use isn’t long enough and it is bulky and cumbersome to use.The marketing on the camera in the camera's own packaging and descriptions as being an “Indoor/Outdoor Security Camera” & then NOT INCLUDING the water resistant power cord as standard, in the same box as the camera is really poor practice, in my opinion. If I were to have ordered this online or picked this up in store & see “INDOOR/OUTDOOR” on the box (description) then brought it home to install outside & found out that I needed to buy an additional accessory cord that isn’t in the box already would have infuriated me! A separate cord MUST BE PURCHASED in order to use this outdoors! For the life of me I don’t understand the marketing mentality here. It is not an “Outdoor Camera” if you do not supply the camera with the accessories needed for it to be used outdoors in the same box the camera came in that says “INDOOR/OUTDOOR” ON THE PACKAGING!!! (...with tiny little asterisks next to the caveats in very fine print on the box.) Why not just include the Outdoor Cord in the box because it can be used indoors or outdoors? There is no reason to have 2 separate cords & make me buy extra stuff to make it work as listed on the product’s details! It makes no sense, unless I was the one trying to make profit from the sale of the device to the public.SECOND CON (Pun Intended):There is a 'BETA' option on this camera, in the app, to detect motion only "if it is a human" & it “kind of” works. I have countless (literally) motion captures labeled as “PERSON” and all the clip shows is a stick blowing in the wind or my umbrella moving around from the wind…NOT A PERSON! It’s not perfected, to say the least, and it is only available if a subscription plan is active on the camera. So it is a pay to play service that doesn’t even work! The Camera does come with a free 30 day “trial” access so a user can see if the subscription fee is worth it to have access to this feature and a few others. This feature alone, being that it doesn’t function properly shouldn’t be part of the subscription level in my opinion. Especially with all of the competitive options on the market that offer better tech that actually functions correctly and that tech isn’t tied to a subscription. The "all motion" detection selection works perfectly also and this is my preferred setting for all of my BLINK Cameras. My view on it is that, I would rather have too many recordings triggered than take the chance of it not triggering due to a setting or “BETA” testing issue because the feature has not been perfected yet! Last I checked I was not on the payroll with BLINK and quite the contrary, I pay them EVERY MONTH! I really do not like paying a company to do their testing for them on a “BETA” …”FEATURE!!!” I wish that upon release this “BETA Human Only Mode” was not “BETA” and was already tried and true having been tested by the company BEFORE sending it out for sale and listing it as a benefit of the purchase. It is not a benefit to me on the item unless it is 100% full functional and working properly and I do not like ordering things and then being part of the testing procedure for the new features WHILE PAYING A SUBSCRIPTION FEE TO ACCESS THAT FEATURE!!! Oh yeah, by the way, this 'BETA' human only detection feature is only available with a premium payment...AKA a "subscription fee." So another add-on cost to the end user just to use the camera as it is advertised. The subscription fee is the same as all their other cameras but I disagree with advertising features of the camera and then not allowing access to those features unless I pay more every month. I, personally, feel that is a bit deceiving and I don't appreciate that marketing mentality. This “BETA” feature is the only thing I can see different in the software vs. other BLINK Cameras I am using and this “feature” in my opinion isn’t all that special for it to be locked out to users that do not have a monthly subscription attached to the camera. There are competitive options out there that have much more advanced features than the “human only” detection available on this one and they include the access to those features as part of the user experience of the camera and just for buying the camera.THIRD CON:The volume on this camera is TERRIBLE!!! Even turned all the way up it isVERY LOW volume and this effect is multiplied when placing the camera outside. I was hoping that since this camera has the ability to be outdoors that the speaker volume would be able to handle the demand of an outdoor placement. It does not and fails miserably. My indoor BLINK MINI is way louder than this camera in side by side testing. Lower volume on an outdoor camera just doesn’t make sense to me and in real world use people cannot hear me very well at all when talking to them with the BLINK MINI 2 and because it is so small it is even hard for them to find so they can try to get closer to it to hear what I am saying to them.PROS (Short List):If you are familiar with BLINK Security Cameras this one will be a standard add on for you as it was for me. I have a couple other BLINK devices already so I am already familiar with the service. For those new to BLINK this is still a simple set up and no techy knowledge is required to be up, connected and running in under 5 minutes. This camera does connect faster than my other cameras when I send a request for the feed via the app, but especially noticeable when saying "Alexa, show me the backdoor." I am used to my other cameras lagging for quite a while when asking Alexa to show them but this one pops right up! THAT firmware upgrade is REALLY APPRECIATED and I WISH on a falling star that they would push that out to the rest of the cameras! The camera records very clearly and works well at night with or without the built in LED. The LED can be set to on or off, can be set to stay on for different amounts of time and also to trigger with motion to aid in video capture quality when recording at night. The footage looks really similar to my other BLINK Cameras with ~maybe~ a slightly better quality although it is tough to tell and it might be just a placebo effect. It is quite clear, crisp and defined and nighttime captures are the same whether or not the LED is set to trigger or if it records in night mode. In the app there are very minor differences to the camera controls vs. other BLINK Cameras. Basically this is a BLINK Mini with an LED, that can go outside if you buy the extra outdoor cord and it responds faster when wanted to display the feed using a voice request. I have not found this camera to be “ground breaking’ or worth singing from the mountaintops about. In fact, the way it is packaged and supplied has done quite the opposite and has irritated me more than anything. It does work well except for that “human only” motion detection option but luckily that can be unselected in the app because it does about the same as “detect all motion” and in my testing there doesn’t seem to be any difference between the two.Overall, this camera has TOO MANY EXTRA ADD-ON COSTS & MANDATORY EXPENDITURES associated with it in order for it to live up to its “On The Box Promises” and I find those extra costs unnecessary as a consumer and very distasteful! I would only recommend it as far as general overall performance is concerned when compared to other BLINK Cameras and if one was OK with all of the extra spending involved to get full access to the camera’s advertised “new features.” The low volume on the camera is a huge issue for me as well as paying a subscription to aid in testing a BETA feature that clearly doesn’t work. I would not buy this camera again. This one disappointed and failed in too many ways for me to recommend it to friends and family and the only thing I liked about it was its ability to load a feed faster than my other cameras load their feeds when requesting them with Alexa or through an Amazon device like the Fire TV cube or a Show 8. I would for sure look past this in the future knowing what I know now about it.... Show more

The camera video is visible on smartphones with the Blink app as well as on Alexa Show smart speaker devices that have the display screens. These types of cameras do provide features such as checking in on baby sitters and pets, monitoring your house both inside and outside when you’re away, or possibly getting video evidence of thieves or prowlers. Some of the features: inexpensive and very small; Indoor/outdoor use; has a spotlight; person detection for a fee; option of local storage with an extra cost module; 1080p HD video; compatible with Alexa, IFTTT; real-time motion alerts on your smartphone; The camera can function as a chime (using its built-in speaker) for Blink doorbell cameras if you have the Mini camera indoors. To use outdoors, plug in Mini 2 outside your home with the Blink Weather Resistant Power Adapter (sold separately) and mount with the included kitIn real use the camera gives a very sharp image and video when it is very sunny or when it is in a well lit room (I tried the camera in both environments). In night time use outside ot inside with no lights in the room the built-in LED spotlight does a decent effort of illuminating the scene and renders colors although not as sharp as when fully lit in daylight or with rom lights. The night vision function produces Black and white images and videos using the IR infrared emitters to “illuminate” the scene. In conclusion, the $40 cost of this camera is reasonable for the performance and security it offers.Recommended....
