I would give this sunscreen a million stars if I could! I just spent two weeks in the Caribbean, sun worshipping. My sun sensitive Irish pale skin didn’t even get pink. The fragrance is light and I love the UV sensitive bottle. Note: not a problem for me, but it may be for others- this sunscreen is THICK. It requires effort to completely rub in which for me is the mark of a good sunscreen. Once it’s rubbed in, it doesn’t leave a white cast and my skin doesn’t feel greasy. I love this sunscreen so much.

I tried this product out 2x yesterday, 1x for a mid morning hike and another time for a late afternoon swim. I did not burn even the littlest bit. So Kudos to that! I love that it's waterproof as well it make it so multipurpose. I honestly think the neatest thing about this entire product though, is the bottle itself. It changes from opaque white to blue when exposed to harmful UV rays. I was able to walk around my house with this bottle and see WHERE in my OWN HOME*land* I was getting hit with UV rays. It was a really neat little experiment and educated my whole house. This is a mineral sunscreen so it does have that classic whitewash you get with all other zinc oxide bottles but it also has some chemical protectants as well so that's nice. It is also REEF SAFE. ... MoreI tried this product out 2x yesterday, 1x for a mid morning hike and another time for a late afternoon swim. I did not burn even the littlest bit. So Kudos to that! I wish it was just a little less runny though.

I've been wanting to try mineral sunscreens for a while, so I was pleased to find Blue Lizard. After using it a few times here is what I've found:Pros:-Reef safe!-the guide on the package is helpful, letting you know the proper amount of product to use to optimal protection-Nobody in the household got burned while using this (for reference, we live in the low desert and it is in the high 110s outside every day, so the sun is dang intense)-it goes on white so you can see where you've covered, and it soaks in within a few minutes and is invisibleCons:-this sunscreen felt so gross and heavy on my face, though to be fair, it wasn't as bad on the rest of my body-it left my skin rather sticky, even after a couple hours-it was somewhat sticky, even after ... MoreI've been wanting to try mineral sunscreens for a while, so I was pleased to find Blue Lizard. DON'T BE FOOLED LIKE I WAS! Blue Lizard Sport is NOT a safe sunscreen. While the product is labeled "Mineral Based Sunscreen" is large letters on the front, the tiny print says "and chemical sunscreen". Why would one of the most trusted sunscreen brands do this? The product contains Octisalate, a known hormone disrupter that is also bad for the ocean and coral reefs. So disappointing that I will NEVER be able to trust this brand again. Yes, their product for sensitive skin doesn't contain chemical sunscreens, but who wants to bring a magnifying glass to the store to find out if they are sneaking chemicals into the product. And, the list of non-active chemicals in the product for sensitive skin is long, making me wonder if it really is a safe product anymore.
I was pleased with the quality of Blue Lizard. I expected the sunscreen to be hard to spread on the skin like most higher spf sunscreens. Don't get me wrong, it still took a bit to get it rubbed in, but half as long as some brands I've used especially for the face area and hairline. The product itself is still the standard white color, this of course the reason why you're going to be rubbing, but it is more of a liquid and not a thick, sticky, paste like the most common sunscreens which makes it more easier to spread. It also still has a traditional light sunscreen odor. I usually just use 100+SPF due to UV allergies because it's the only one I've known to work. This one is tricky for several reasons.Like all mineral sunscreens, it's heavy on the skin and difficult to remove completely and a pain to wash off.If you're not prone to breakouts, it's wonderful. It's rosacea friendly. Glides effortlessly and smoothly. You feel moisturized and stays put all day.If you're not out all day, no need to reapply. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it as a daily spf but then again the benefits may outweigh the risk for you.I'm still searching for a light weight full face coverage that's budget friendly. While it's not meant for the face per se, it can be applied though it's potentially pore clogging.
Blue Lizard Sunscreen SPF 50+ Sport is an amazing sunscreen that provides great coverage and protection from harmful rays. The addition of zinc to the formula makes this product stand out above the rest. Initially it was easy to apply and run into the skin. After entering the pool you could instantly see water repelling from the skin locking in moisture and locking out harmful rays. Even though the sun index was quite high, I did not experience any burn, and my skin felt nice and moisturized for quite some time. My only drawback was once the lotion was wet, the appearance of white lotion was obvious, and I couldn’t get it to soak in. I was amazed at the coverage, but it was not so fun seeing and hearing from others that I had lotion all over. I used less lotion the next time I was out in the sun thinking maybe I had too much on, but the white appeared again after I thought I had it rubbed in well. Extremely pleased with the sun protection but could do without the lotion being seen.
I tried this on recommendation of a friend as I feel almost every proof have tried; including those for sensitive skin, all cause either itching or a light burning sensation on my face. It protected my skin from burn in many hours in the sun in South Carolina with a high UV. Reapplied before/after swimming and no weird film on the water. Love the stick version of this as well.
Family and I tried this sunscreen during my Sons baseball game. It was a hot day with lots of sweat. The sunscreen had an oil layer around it as it came out of the bottle and was difficult to rub into my husbands arm. It left a white film on his hairy arm. Even hours latter it didn't really all the way absorb. I however, had no problem with it rubbings into my skin or my kids skin. No one in the family reapplied and none of us ended up getting burned. (I would still suggest re-applying however). My son did not complain about any dripping in his eye's (and he was sweating a lot). The packaging was nice and it provided a good estimate as to how much you should be using on each body part. The color changing bottle was fun for kids but not really useful. It immediately changed blue after being taken out of the box while still in the car. I thought it was to remind you to reapply but its essentially just a color changing bottle and changes within 2 mins of exposure.
My daughters and I are light skinned and birn easily. We used this stuff at the beach. we sat mosy of the day on full sun. We did reapply after going into the water and were soared any sunburn sans the small spots around our swimsuit straps on our backs and me to n my cleavage. We will definitely be more careful nect time, but this sunscreen was effective where is was probably applied. I recommend it.
