Was looking for a while for a mic to go with my headphones (was trying to get away from "gaming headsets" and go with a good quality audio setup). Was doing quite a bit of research for a mic (and had seen Yeti before, and even recommended by a friend) but was leaning towards getting a XLR mic setup, while balancing quality versus cost. Found a few mics within my budget, but was having the total go up due to me not already having an appropriate audio interface to hook it up to. Well even with going with an okay mic on sale and a decent interface (one that i would be willing to keep even after upgrading other aspects of my setup), and boom-arm, the cost was growing over the cost of a Yeti. And I had to ask myself, why I was sort of against it in the first place. So I strolled into Best Buy and saw this bundle, and open box no less! Came out to less than the cost of just the mic so I had to grab it. My friends instantly remarked on the increase in quality and the boom works well (after I took the time to figure it out, it is a little finicky). Even if I have to eventually replace the boom, it was well worth it!

My 3-star rating is based on the fact that the mic arm (I would all it a articulating boom arm) is not of good quality. It's actually surprisingly of very low quality. I'm so very surprised that they would use metal for the arm lengths but they'd use plastic parts for the joint articulation points. So, when I try to tighten the joints, they just don't tighten snugly like they should. They feel like they are going to break. As for the Mic, I have no doubt that I've gotten a good mic. I bought it because I read reviews and this mic has awesome reviews. I haven't had a chance to test it yet because I'm still in the process of learning how to utilize its features correctly. So, I feel that I'm not qualified to give my review on the mic because I can't say I'm qualified ... MoreMy 3-star rating is based on the fact that the mic arm (I would all it a articulating boom arm) is not of good quality. As for the articulating boom arm mic holder review, I did get the mic and the boom arm as an "open box" item, for which I cannot return it. Perhaps the person who'd bought this prior to me had returned it because they had felt the same about the mic holder arm as I do.

I bought this because my gaming headset broke and wanted to try something like this out. First unit the usb cord broke when I plugged in the unit, worked 75% of the time. 3 weeks later the microphone doesn't turn on and I bought a new cord. The microphone doesn't still doesn't turn on. There is no direct phone line to the store to ask about exchanges. I went there and exchanged it (past 30 day return policy) and now on the 2nd unit the middle lock on the arm just stripped out and is straight and wont stay in position. I'm going to return this for my 4th visit and find something else. Microcenter staff were very nice to me and helpful and did what I wanted. Just wish there was a phone line to talk directly to the store so I don't have to wait for an e-mail or chat ... MoreI bought this because my gaming headset broke and wanted to try something like this out. Incredible microphone. I am a professional online teacher to thousands of students around the world and teach 3-6 webinar classes and conduct half a dozen or more Zoom meetings every single week for many years now...and this Yeti Blue microphone has me sounding better than anything else I've tried; including, $200 top of the line gaming headphones with boom mic used for teaching webinars for a year, $400 Plantronics business wireless Over the Ear headphone with mic that was my go-to gear for meetings for at least 10 years, and $300 ear buds with $150 Rode lapel mic used for meetings and webinars for over 6 months. This mic is incredibly flexible to adjust to any circumstances. With the gain turned way up, listeners could hear light footsteps on the stairs across the house (on the other side of the kitchen and dining rooms, around a corner and down a hallway, with my office door shut!) Needless to say, they have incredible sound sensitivity but also fantastic sound quality. On other mics my voice has always sounded high and a little nasally. Its always bothered me. But on the Blue Mic, I sound like a radio DJ and have excellent tone that my long time listeners say now sounds fantastic when listening to long lessons. When I turn the gain down and use some of the built in effects plus the noise cancelling built into Zoom, my audience can't hear my landscapers lawn mower right outside my office window which is so loud in person that I can't even hear my students talking back to me with my speaker at full volume. So I can't hear them at all due to the noise, but they can't hear anything but me. On any of my other gear, I have to mute the mic to keep them from hearing the noise, but simultaneously interrupting my ability to speak also. So the incredible sound quality, clarity and effects make noise canceling software even more effective. No matter how sensitive or noise filtering you want/need, this is a fantastic mic for the job. The multidirectional capability is also fantastic if interviewing or talking with a partner into the same mic. Having 4 mics in one and the ability to choose multiple recording patterns for one, two or even a room full of sound makes this mic incredibly versatile and removes the need to mic up multiple sources. The boom is the only item that I don't rave about because its just decent. It is a little hard to tighten and keep locked down if you move it around a lot. I move mine a LOT because I have a sitting and standing desk and switch back and forth throughout my day, causing me to relocate my mic several time a day depending on what I'm doing. Even after a year though, I can still crank down on the tighteners (albeit its gotten pretty hard recently) and it will stay put. The bottom line is, I LOVE this mic and I don't hesitate recommending it. Best mic I've ever owned.
Its kind of sensless to do acreview before i actually use the product but i found this product availible with open box open (the only one left at store) bc i like to by electronic brand new. The box to this prduct was overwhelming taped and marked that it had been inspected by bestbuy ans marked as excellent condition. HA, wrongg! Ive read in another review that the threading on the mic sometimes comes dfaulted, which i think the original owner found out and had taken a knife or sharp objecf ans was digging in the whole to dig something out ans stripped the threading. Next and very common issue was the boom arm. It was like the original buyer trued bending it in the wrong direction and busted the middle joint resulting in it just being a straight bar. I am not a recording professional. This is definitely the best mic I have personally used. But, it's not perfect, so let's start with what I do not like: (1) The base of the stand and has to be upright and level. It cannot be mounted sideways or upside down. If the base is upright but not level, even off by just 15 degrees or so, the arm always rotates down hill. This makes it difficult to use on slightly slanted surface without having to shim it with something. (2) I really wish the mic has a power switch, but at least it has a mute switch with a blinking LED when muted. (3) Do not adjust the stand's tension knobs unless absolutely necessary. Do not adjust them until after the stand is firmly mounted, and the shock ring and mic are attached. Once you start turning ... MoreI am not a recording professional. Do not adjust them until after the stand is firmly mounted, and the shock ring and mic are attached. Once you start turning them, it becomes difficult to adjust them so that the mic stays where you put it. In reality, you do not need to adjust them unless you use a mic other than the one that came in the kit. Now, moving to what do I like: (1) The sounds quality is excellent. (2) It has on-mic controls for muting, and for adjusting mic gain, headphone volume, and spatial pattern. (3) It is truly plug and play on Windows 10. (But, it does not come with recording software). (4) It is setup to plug headphones (3.5mm) into the mic itself. When setup as your System Audio Output device, your system audio is routed to the mic, which mixes system audio with mic pickup, allows you to adjust mic gain and head phone volume, and then sends the mixed signal to the headphones. In short, you both hear the music and monitor your mic level via the headphones. When you use the mic as a recording device, even though you hear mixed audio in the headphones, the recording software only records mic, which allows you to keep the mic audio track isolated from the music track.
Bought the Yeticaster mic and boom arm package. Got it for some livestreaming and master classes that I plan on running for my business. The sound quality that the mic generates is superb. I tested this in parallel vs. the built-in mic in my HP All-in-One and my Logitech webcam, and the improvement and overall resonance of the sound is far superior. Definitely happy with that. I have to ding the boom arm a bit. Yes, it's sturdy. Yes, it's aesthetically pleasing. It was pretty easy to assemble as well. I wanted to set this up so that the mic would be below me (out of camera shot), but the tension in the boom arm is not adjustable enough to keep it from springing up or creeping back into the shot. I wanted to set this up so that the mic would be below me (out of camera shot), but the tension in the boom arm is not adjustable enough to keep it from springing up or creeping back into the shot. I see that a lot of reviewers in different forums had this experience as well. I tweaked the external tension adjusters and the "hidden" screw that's located in the base of the arm. Couldn't get the right balance. I did consider returning this and just getting the mic on fixed base. After a lot of adjustments and experimentation with placement, I took advantage of a grommet that's drilled in my desk, placed the clamp in it, and have the mic in an "inverted" position (pointing down) and positioned about 12" from my mouth and off to my side. It's out of camera shot (a plus), and the mic is sensitive enough to capture my voice well. With this placement, I simply swing the boom arm into position, pull the mic toward me a bit, and I'm good to go. Overall happy with this, but would have liked a little more versatility in the ability to position the boom arm.
Was delivered on time just like they said. Ive just unboxed it and assembled everything. While it is extremely easy to put everything together, the arm adjustment is very tedious. It’s almost impossible to get it into a position that won’t cause it to slowly rise back up. I’m still currently trying to tweak it to where it’ll just remain still. As for mounting the mic, whoever packaged this decided to put the mic clip separately inside of a tiny plastic baggy which was tightly stuffed inside of a VERY small random hole inside of the styrofoam packaging. I literally did not see this because the top of the bags seal is white and which blended in with the styrofoam just enough to make it look like there was nothing there. Again I don’t know if someone was in a hurry and just pushed it down in there for the sake of time, or if they thought it’d be a funny April fools joke, OR if that’s just how it’s packaged, but PLEASE, whatever the reason may be, consider just putting it inside of the same bag that the instructions or usb are in!
Failed a little over a year into ownership, and support has completely ignored my inquiries about warranty repair/replacement. When it worked it was a nice microphone, but without suffering any misuse or even excessive use (I play games a couple hours a night maybe 3-4 nights a week with family and friends on average) it tried to take out my whole system. It began drawing too much power, and all peripherals stopped working. The computer wouldn't even boot with it plugged in (and no changes were made to the system/peripherals since building over a year ago). The mic was disconnected and everything was stable. I decided to troubleshoot further, and it turns out something completely fried; the mic won't even turn on when plugged in now. While googling my issue it appears to be very common. I figured that sucks but it's under warranty so I am ok. Wrong. Blue is the most unresponsive company I have ever had the displeasure of seeking satisfaction from. They did not respond to a single request for my warranty to be honored and I have contacted them 4 times over the past 2 months. I am currently writing a BBB complaint to see if they respond to that. I don't really have a recommendation of what to buy instead of this yet, but don't buy this unless you want to be forced to buy a completely new microphone in a year. Because so far my experience is once your mic fails, and it will, you're on your own.
Overall it's pretty simple. Attach it to the desk, plug it in, get to making noise. Yeti remains a proven name in the market and this package didn't fail the reputation. My only complaint was getting the boom balanced seemed tedious. However, once it was done I haven't to mess with it since. The microphone is crisp and clear. This particular model isn't anything particularly special, but it is a quality product. The body is made of the same durable materials you're familiar with from this line. The shock mount is a little interesting to me as it's not as free floating as I was expecting, but it's also not sloppy. Since it's a bit on the rigid side it doesn't seem to isolate the mic as much as I would prefer. All in all it seems durable and has done a good enough job ... MoreOverall it's pretty simple. Since it's a bit on the rigid side it doesn't seem to isolate the mic as much as I would prefer. All in all it seems durable and has done a good enough job so far. I already mentioned my complaint about the boom, but the pros really outweigh that. The articulations are smooth and snug without being too rigid to allow fluid movement. It's just springy enough that I don't worry about treating it too gingerly if I have to move it while the mic is hot. The base isn't yet permanently secured to my worktop, and that usually is a huge weak point in most c-clamp type mounts. On this boom that doesn't seem to be an issue. The boom doesn't sway and it isn't sloppy. There's a smooth and fluidlike rotation when I need it, but it sits secure and stationary when I need it to. The materials are durable and the inset channel for cable management was well thought out. There isn't a lot of slack for things to hang on. I'm pleased with the purchase and would say this is comparable with the Shure MV7 in terms of quality. The Yeti lacks the XLR jack, but these days that my not really be the necessity I feel it is. The price is fair given that you're actually receiving three separate Yeti products in the package; The microphone, Compass boom arm, and Radius shock mount. You don't get the traditional desktop mount for the mic, which I think is a bit of a ripoff, but I'm sure there is a net savings for Yeti that I'm sure they justify by saying it allows them to package the items at a low cost to the consumer.
