The umbrella is well made, and fairly well designed. The main thing that bothers me about the design is the hook and loop (velcro) closure system, used to keep the umbrella rolled up, should be a bit wider to better restrain the tendency to unfurl, and so the hook and loop pad could be wider to better hold together. The hook and loop pad often let’s go and the umbrella unfurls while I’m walking with it closed, which isn’t an issue with many umbrellas but the blunt umbrella opens two thirds of the way under gravity alone so it is a tripping hazard if it happens at the wrong time, so improving the hook and loop (velcro) material is a must.In terms of its rigidity and function as an umbrella while open, it is fantastic so far, I’ve had it for a couple of weeks and it ... MoreThe umbrella is well made, and fairly well designed. Good quality umbrella but there is always room for improvement. I purchased this back in November but there hasn't been much rain for the chance for me to use this to provide a review. It is a quality made umbrella but the one thing that would improve it is having a button to press to open it up. It is quite difficult if you only have one hand available to put the umbrella up or down. This is also made difficult for myself as I don't have great strength (just me but obviously everyone is different)If it had that option then I could easily give the product a higher review - other than this I would purchase again and encourage others to purchase.

Today marks the beginning of spring in here, and sadly, this year didn't rain a lot. I wanted to use my Blunt more, but anyway, here's my review:You can feel its good quality and it's worth the money. The times it has rained it's done the job. I know my Blunt will last for many years. If anything, I feel like the top spring mechanism is a bit loose. Like, if I accidentally touched the runner after some more uses, the whole umbrella would collapse and for some reason that keeps me tense (trust issues lol? what are the chances of this happening anyway? If it does, I'll let you know). Also, there's a little screw or pin on the tube just above where the runner locks when opened, which feels a bit rough to the touch, like it needed a bit more polishing at the factory. ... MoreToday marks the beginning of spring in here, and sadly, this year didn't rain a lot. I'm nitpicking though, it's still a fantastic umbrella and I love it.A convenient suggestion I could give is that, as it doesn't have a crook handle, this part could feature a loop so it could be hanged (if needed).

I love my new blunt umbrella! I bought the classic in blue. My mum has the orange, which was how I discovered blunt umbrellas and just had to have one. It's amazing! So strong and sturdy, even on the windiest day. I love how easy it is to open and close! No more pinching my fingers on old umbrellas. I could never go back. Blunt are truly the world's best umbrellas! And they look great too! :)
Well...it is smaller and heavier than I thought it would be...well made...beautifully packaged...my 18 yo son was fascinated by the gizmo that retains the brolly in its rectangular box packaging...yes...it is neat solution......but it hasn't rained since I got it haha...so maybe it will be big enough to prevent my hurculean shoulders from wetting even at only classic size.Interestingly (I'm an engineer and product designer) it rained as heavily as only Auckland spring weather does, 3 days prior my blunt delivery...so I bought a $9.99 bright red 'big' brolly while at a pak n save supermarket....it is bloody fantastic...light, stiff, huuuge, bright!...albeit eye pokingly hazardous!Weirdly my emotional connection to red brolly is ridiculous...makes me smile when ... MoreWell...it is smaller and heavier than I thought it would be...well made...beautifully packaged...my 18 yo son was fascinated by the gizmo that retains the brolly in its rectangular box packaging...yes...it is neat solution......but it hasn't rained since I got it haha...so maybe it will be big enough to prevent my hurculean shoulders from wetting even at only classic size.Interestingly (I'm an engineer and product designer) it rained as heavily as only Auckland spring weather does, 3 days prior my blunt delivery...so I bought a $9.99 bright red 'big' brolly while at a pak n save supermarket....it is bloody fantastic...light, stiff, huuuge, bright!...albeit eye pokingly hazardous!Weirdly my emotional connection to red brolly is ridiculous...makes me smile when I look at it....2 days later I sat in the rain...under 'big red' with my friend Tony ( also a big red...6'4" and bright redly topped) after a Muriwai beach (wet) bike ride and drank red wine...we laughed and gassed on....he had a red Blunt....made for a great photo. It's getting me thinking about how can I create more satisfying emotional connections with people, and hardware....in my products and relationships....Thanks for asking me to share feedback...
On the positive side: The umbrella is has i quality finish and has excellent wind resistance. It is large enough and strong enough for almost any weather. On the negative side: It is expensive. I owned this umbrella for a number of years and it worked perfectly, however the materials are not designed for longevity. The cover easily split, leaving small holes (approx half to 1 inch) at the top near the tip. This was not such a big issue as the umbrella still functioned well, however it was unsightly and an irritation at this price point. The internal arms are made of plastic and one of these sheared and broke after about 4 years use. This left the umbrella in an un-useable state. This is disappointing. The internal arms are made of plastic and one of these sheared and broke after about 4 years use. This left the umbrella in an un-useable state. This is disappointing. The umbrella was never mistreated and was always handled and stored with care. (as you would expect of an item in this quality bracket) It is a great umbrella, until the plastic nature of the item causes it to fail.
So this is a long term review of the Blunt classic. I got mine 9 years ago and it has kept me dry up and down the county from light drizzle to driving West Coast rain and Taranaki storms. Its a bit faded now but the frame has never let me down despite being inverted once. It works, it has done what they said it would, it hasn’t broken and aside from looking a little less than fresh it continues to work flawlessly. Can’t comment on the repair service as I haven’t needed it, that kinda says it all really. Just bought a metro for the car, see you in another decade.
Overall experience was good. Service was great. The product however.. I spent a lot of time looking into umbrellas. I finally decided to give Blunt a go because of all the good reviews. I ended up returning it however. My biggest issue comes down to the design - the wavey outline compromises a lot of coverage. I know it's their signature look but it's just not practical. The Classic umbrella is actually a bigger sized umbrella, but because of their weird webby design, a lot more rain makes its way in than a normal umbrella. Also the packaging was really disappointing. Damaged and very flimsy for a premium priced umbrella - hardly holding the thing in there.
I recently bought a classic sized blunt umbrella and I have to start by saying that every single one of these umbrellas should come with a carry sleeve. Though the umbrella ticks all the boxes in terms of strength, durability, and a sleek aesthetic design that turns heads, the functionality of the regular coloured, non collaboration special addition umbrellas really lack in a comfortable carry sleeve. Carry sleeves allow the umbrella to become more accessible for those who may benefit from being able to sling the umbrella around their shoulder, to wear as you would a bag, the slightly shorter than a full sized conventional umbrella makes this awkward to carry when you arent a typically healthy person. Carry sleeves allow the umbrella to become more accessible for those who may benefit from being able to sling the umbrella around their shoulder, to wear as you would a bag, the slightly shorter than a full sized conventional umbrella makes this awkward to carry when you arent a typically healthy person. As well as the fact that not having something to carry this in can make it for those with memory issues to remember to take it with them. A very costly mistake that can result in loss of a very strong and useful item, not easily replaced if you are low income. For this reason I have given the product a 4 out of 5 for the loss of a carry sleeve in a large portion of the stock. The functionality and durability otherwise are perfect if you live somewhere, where the wind may destroy your conventional umbrella, or if you go camping and the wind may be unpredictable.Reccomended. But do be aware of the flaws.
A well designed product that shows what is possible when functionality triumphs over cost. This is an incredible product whereby it is so functional it's boring to use, it just works without events. In the odd times when you do go back to using an ordinary umbrella you wonder why people have been putting up with it for so long given the possibility of what it could be. The price is long forgotten from the hassle free service.
