Bodum - Bistro Bread Box Black

I was disappointed by two things here:1) the lid warped on the first day, and2) the “humidity control” is completely open - this is an issue where we live, where flies can just walk straight into the breadbox if the humidity control is open. Older breadboxes had mesh behind this sort of opening.

The lid became warped (formed a shallow U longitudinally) in a fortnight of use, so no longer sealed the box for bread's freshness. The bamboo chopping board lid hadn't been submersed in water, isn't near a heat source nor continued damp. Terrific in the first week, then disappointment. Doesn't perform as advertised.

Disappointed

We were very disappointed with this breadbox. We initially loved the look of it but the lid warped within 2 weeks (not put in the dishwasher or immersed in water). It seems online that this happened to many other purchasers of this product. We will be returning it for a refund and will buy another brand of breadbox!

Good breadbox – bonus board, keeps bread fresh!

Does exactly what's intended – keeps bread fresh and board does a good job. The bamboo board is a little softer than chopping boards I've had in the past, but perfectly fine. Up until recently I've been up-ending my sourdough and putting the exposed end on the board and keeping it that way, but I'm surprised how many more days I get out of a loaf with the box.Bigger than I was expecting – about a shoebox size – but fits perfectly in the kitchen.

Good look, poor materials

The positives -As with most Bodum products the actual look is great, which is why I bought it. So 4 stars for design.The negatives -The quality of materials is poor for a relatively expensive item. The plastic which has been used does not hold its shape. As a consequence, the lid does not fit easily back onto the box. I keep having to use a knife to lever the lid back on!The colour, which looks like a nice off-white in the ad, is actually a greyish bone shade - disappointing and i wonder whether this was influenced by the plastic used.The little lever for allowing air in has not been properly designed - it falls off all the time!!So far, the bamboo top on mine has not bowed as in other reviews.Overall - disappointing for a Bodum item and quality does ... MoreThe positives -As with most Bodum products the actual look is great, which is why I bought it. Great product

Was just looking for a simple but good quality bread bin in black or white. Really pleased with this one. The size is really good - wouldn't want it any smaller - and the shape allows it to sit on top of the microwave (small kitchen!). Also easy to wash as the top comes off. Simple is best - no fancy hinges. So great product.

Looks fabulous and so versatile.

I love this bread box.Looks fabulous in my kitchen but also versatile with the lid doubling up as a bread board. My husband always leaves chopping boards around after slicing his bread for breakfast, now he puts it away every time.I highly recommend this bread box.Great quality, great product.

Not a good storage for bread but for potatoes yes

The height of this box is not suitable for larger loafs or be read loaf made in a bread machine which is what we brought. We should have looked at the measurements. We use the box to store our potatoes and onions as the air vent on the side of box is useful.Also, washing our lid made the wood split in half from the water so yeah not good storage for bread.

Too small for regular bread

Its far too small to hold a regular loaf of bread from the supermarket. The lid only closed if the loaf is partially gone and the slices can be arranged on an angle . The product itself is very nice quality, but its not particularly useful due to the size . I was disappointed

disappointing

Much smaller that I was expecting. Can't quite see how it will fit '2 large loaves'.Feels cheap, including the chopping board lid which is thin and feels more like laminate.
