I have very wide feet, suffered from pain in my left foot and it turns out, after visiting a podiatrist, I need wider shoes than normal. Bont, Lake and Sidi all pop up with being good for this and stock is abysmal everywhere apart from Bont so I thought hey, they seem cool.. lots of people love them and I've seen videos saying they're comfy even without custom moulding them at home. But I needed to mould the further...Not only was I super careful in the heating procedure but I started a lower/safer heat and I seem to have melted or broken the BOA which I read in reviews is already low quality.. NOTE THAT ONCE YOU HEAT THESE IT VOIDS WARRANTY/CANNOT RETURN.Probably a great shoe if you don't have wide feet/need to use the moulding feature. Most beautifully ... Comfy, light weight shoes with a couple of issues.1, the short BOA cords can make it difficult to get the shoes on.2. Not compatible with some Shimano SPD-SL systems without shimming the cleat. A known issue with Bont which I discovered too late.I wish I could return these but have worn them a couple of times.

I was looking for a road shoe that would suit my wide feet and having tried numerous other brands I was beginning to give up on ever finding a shoe that would not pinch my toes. I took a gamble on the Bonts after reading other reviews.I normally buy a size 46 in Northwave and Shimano but decided to size up to a 46.5 in the Bonts after reviews suggested they may come up small. Although the shoes are meant to go in the oven in order to mould them to your feet I decided to first try them without the oven just to see where any pinch points might be. I could tell straight away that there was much more wiggle room in the toe box than any other shoe I had worn and moving up to a 46.5 was a good decision as length was just about spot on. I couldn't feel any discomfort just standing in the shoes so decided to try them out on the bike with a ride of 30 miles. After the first few miles I noticed some discomfort in my right foot which felt like something was sticking in the inside of my foot opposite the ratchet strap, after stopping and removing my overshoe I noticed that the tongue of the shoe had slipped to one side, after centralised the tongue and tightening the ratchet the remainder of the ride was pain free. A month on and several hundred miles later I still haven't used the oven but can honestly say that these shoes are the best I have ever used and although the Riot model doesn't have a full carbon sole I haven't noticed any difference in power transfer when compared to my other shoes.

Once every few days I will get a sudden pang of annoyance running through my body and mind as I remember that apart from Bont, every cycling shoe manufacturer shapes their toe boxes in a way that does not match the layout of the human foot. Imagine if helmet manufacturers made their helmets square, and just told everyone to get on with it...Anyway, these Bont Riot MTB shoes have been really good so far. Stiff, moldable, fit my toe arrangement (I have a particularly pronounced Egyptian toe profile), and have taken a fair kicking so far with no sign of giving up. The cleats can be mounted pretty far back too, which is another bonus. In the furthest back position, however, the pedals hit the rubber of the sole, which is a bit of a design flaw. Not a big issue, but ... Other than that, these have been spot on, especially for the price.Tip; use a hairdryer to heat them up when you mold them - way more targetted and controlled that throwing them in the oven
I bought this product a month ago. At first I hesitate to buy, but as I checked all the information on the product description, the sizing chart provided and all the reviews, I add to cart and bought it. The item was delivered so fast.. Like 4 days with a thousand miles away. I recommend the item and this site to my friends to see and check some stuff.
Hello,I bought these shoes a month ago, I wanted a pair that accommodated wider feet, instead of squishing the forefoot together. These do the job wonderfully. I have used bonts for years. Having switched from regular trainers to barefoot trainers, my feet actually grew 1/2 a size, I used to take a 46.5, now I need a 47W in bonts. Service in store very good, no pressure, helpful, kind. Thanks,Simon
I am happy to be able to purchase at half the price of domestic regular price in Japan. The size was determined according to the measuring method of the manufacturer site. There is no major problem even if actually wearing it. Strongly speaking, it may be that the narrow fit is better for me, but I do not know because I never tried it.I ordered the thermoforming to the pro shop. Unfortunately the tip of the heel melted a little, but the shaping worked well and it is comfortable to use. I think that pedaling is possible without power loss because the bottom does not bend structurally.
So after reading reviews on these I expected a shoe that would blow my old mavic and shimano shoes out the water! Why because I have a wide foot, first off lets start with their carbon foot base its like a bath tub and the edges dig into the sides of the feet! Even after their moulding procedure you cant shape the edges out enough, then there's the shoe material it self its baggy around your foot and when you tighten the boa it it rucks up! The fore foot velcro is awfull and just pulls the shoe out of shape even more! Then there is the quality of the shoe itself its shocking for the price! Looks and feels cheap, I wanted these to be the perfect shoes but they missed the mark by miles, 100's of miles! I ended up with some spec Torch 3.0 which have enough adjustment ... I previously own Bont Vaypor S shoes. Bonts are normally slightly small, however the Riot is slightly larger in volume. I sized down one EU size from Vaypor to Riot.Even sizing down they have more internal volume around the foot, but the length and width are great. The ratchet is simple. I miss the Boa, but I bought these as cheaper winter shoes as they were a good price. Where the buckle is attached presses slightly on my foot, and this is the only downside. I've been wearing them with really light weight summer socks only so far, though.Bont shoes have a bit of instep support, not really varus chanting, but it certainly helps my knees track vertically. Baked these shoes and molded them right out of the box. They are light and fit perfectly. First long ride with them was excellent - no more tingling toes and power transfer is immediate. Excellent.
