Little on the expensive side but you get what you pay for. The addition of the go pro/ light adapter is amazing. The only thing is that can see anything attached being knock off by low branches as the magnet lock doesn’t support loads of weight. But that’s only a slight issue.Comfortable and easy to fit. Glad I made the choice. Just good luck in finding one in stock at the moment.

Finally a helmet that fits, AND, has the safety features I want! For some reason, other helmets that I found that actually fit my big head had chin straps that were too short, and I ended up having to modify them. This one fits my head great, is comfortable, has more than enough chin strap adjustability, AND has the WaveCel to boot. The only reason I gave this 4 stars, as in some of the other reviews I read here, they could have included the fidlock. Instead, you have to pay almost 2x as much to get the same overall hemet, and a couple of bells and whistles that include the fidlock.

It's taken me a long time to find a good quality helmet and one that fits properly, for my big head and neck.I've always found that if they fit my head, for some inexplicable reason they were designed with chin straps too short for my neck, which resulted in me modifying the helmet. This is a helmet that finally fits both my head and has ample chin strap length. The only reason I haven't given this a 5, is that they could have included the fid lock. Instead you have to pay almost twice as much to get that option on their top tier helmet, which is in all respects the same with the exception of a couple of bells and whistles.

I really appreciate the quality of anything Bontrager! I'm in my second week of riding with my Rally. It's replacing a Solstice that I rode for 2-3 seasons, but was damaged in a crash. The Solstice did it's job perfectly! What I liked about the Solstice was it's fit, cooling, and lightweight. As for the Rally, extra protection of the wavecell technology was a huge selling point. In experience, however, I've found it feels a tad heavier, but my biggest regret is that it doesn't seem to cool nearly as well as my previous helmet. Having just finished a grueling 4 hour MTB ride on a hot day, I was tempted to take it off for the climbs...not a great idea! As it was, I did remove it for rest/lunch breaks. Finally, there is no perceivable way to mount a GoPro or Blendr ... MoreI really appreciate the quality of anything Bontrager! As it was, I did remove it for rest/lunch breaks. Finally, there is no perceivable way to mount a GoPro or Blendr light to the helmet. There isn't a flat spot large enough for an adhesive mount, and a strap won't work with the wavecell. I bought the helmet immediately after crashing the Solstice as we had the big ride planned for the next day, and didn't research this specific model. If I had, the Blaze might have been a better choice for the mounts, but there wasn't one in the shop at the time. I'm debating taking advantage of the 30 day Unconditional guarantee, which is a shame as it's an otherwise fabulous high quality helmet!
Going to keep this short and sweet!PROS- Sleek/stylish- Lightweight- Comfortable- Well ventilated- Visor keeps sun out wellCONS- Chin straps can be finicky- Visor screws for taking visor off leave some aesthetic problems without visorThe greatest compliment I can give is the Wavecell Technology. I was mountain biking and took a pretty big spill, impacting the ground. After all was said and done, I could see the Wavecell structure in the helmet where I impacted. It had crumpled and rotated exactly how it was supposed to. I could really see the impact technology at work.Great looking helmet with amazing Wavecell Technology.
I recently had the opportunity to try the Rally Wavecel helmet while mountain biking. The helmet is extremely comfortable and breathable in warm weather, while still providing full protection on the lower part of the head. Not only does is feature the BOA dial for easy fitting, it has vertical tuning to fit a wider range of head shapes or make room for a pony tail! With the range in sizes available from Small to XL, the Rally is my go to suggestion for anyone looking to try mountain biking or just casual rides around town. And, like all Wavecel helmets from TREK, they are tested to reduce the impact being transferred to your head in a crash, in turn reducing the risk of concussion 5x more than a standard EPS foam hemet.
I've always been one to value a helmet and invest wisely in items that are directed toward saving lives. My recent and first head impact was quite an eye-opener. As certain moments of my crash seemed to be in slow motion, it was the head impact I remember the most. I was nervous right before the impact, followed by immense relief. The impact felt like my heading hitting a pillow. I felt the product support the way it was advertised. The helmet still looks as good as it does, but then again, the impact was on dirt. I am a true believer and grateful for the Wavecel's ingenuity.
Unfortunately this headline is not click bait. I was riding with friends and made the mistake of briefly losing my concentration and, long story short, ended up hitting a jump on my MTB going 20 MPH. My front wheel landed on the upside of a concrete rain water drainage tray that ran alongside the trail and slide out immediately throwing me head first into the upslope of a concrete tray. I could hear and feel the Wavecel technology take the energy from the contact point and disperse it evenly around my head. It was amazing to feel and for a split second I thought everything was going to be fine, until my right shoulder and body hit the concrete and I ended up shattering my clavicle, broke 12 ribs, punctured my lung etc. I'm healing and going to be okay, however, if ... MoreUnfortunately this headline is not click bait. I suffered no concussion, no head injury what-so-ever and I landed head first. I never thought I would need the helmet until I did. Love this helmet!!
Great helmet! Went on a group mountain bike ride and a had a great experience. One of the people I went with had a significant crash, but had a Rally Helmet on. Besides from a few scratches and a strained shoulder, he was in good shape and avoided any head injuries.I thought the helmet was comfortable and stylish. While it's made for mountain biking, I think it could be used for just about anything. The Wavecell technology is really worth the investment! Anyone looking for a new helmet, should start with Wavecell.
I've been road-riding with the Bontrager Rally WaveCel for about 3-4 weeks.I am a small person, and the composite build is a little heavy, and sometimes noticeable if I am tired, but not unbearably so. There is a mild head pressure that takes some getting used to. The rear adjustment knob sits EXACTLY at the pressure point of my skull. It sometimes gives me a bit of a headache, but again, not unbearably so.IMHO, it's the price to pay for improved safety when dodging unusual road events here in Detroit....My absolute LOVE is the Marigold Yellow color! It is almost exactly the color of road paint and road signage, and I feel that drivers register my presence and move to avoid me 100x better.I wear it primarily for road biking, although its aerodynamics are not ... MoreI've been road-riding with the Bontrager Rally WaveCel for about 3-4 weeks.I am a small person, and the composite build is a little heavy, and sometimes noticeable if I am tired, but not unbearably so. It is almost exactly the color of road paint and road signage, and I feel that drivers register my presence and move to avoid me 100x better.I wear it primarily for road biking, although its aerodynamics are not great for that.I like the visor flexibility. Easy to adjust while riding. The fabric lining in the inside is not pinned in-place for flexing reasons, and sometimes it gets a little bunched. I need to be more careful when putting it on than I was with my old Trek.I dislike that the chin straps at their maximum tightness are still just a bit too loose for my head size, no matter how much I fiddle with them. The helmet should really not move at all. That's been an ongoing complaint of mine w/ Trek's (and everyone's) triangulation system. And child's large size never fits well in the cage area. I wear a cap or liner to snug it up. I am going to go back to the shop and see if they can help me tune it a little better. No issues with ventilation, personally, but I could see how it could be an issue, especially with the cap.Giving the 5 stars because I think this design is as good as it gets for balancing of safety and comfort, with safety winning. I am of the opinion that if it isn't a little bit uncomfortable, it probably isn't working correctly!
