Cheap and nasty
I bought this today but will be returning it- the recycled plastic cover makes my sensitive skin react badly when I touch it... Show more

It's okay..
It's good for sketching and drawing. Not so good for painting, paper isn't absorbant and gets wrinkly after the paint dries. Markers bleed through as well.... Show more

Watercolor? Depends on how you use it
I have used watercolor in this sketchbook and yes I find it is ok for swatching or experimentation. If you use a light wash it is ok but too much water and it goes through. Which is a pity because it has a nice thickness to it that doesn’t buckle too much, so I think the problem is a lack of sizing or inadequate sizing on the paper. It is actually medium smooth and not rough as described, so fine liners can work on it. I have actually used layers of paint on it eg watercolor then acrylic but these are in thin layers and there were no issues. If you bear in mind the limitations of this paper, it makes a good sketchbook for experimenting and playing with mixed media. Just don’t use a brush fully loaded with water/watercolor and don’t expect it to work like 100% cotton ... Just don’t use a brush fully loaded with water/watercolor and don’t expect it to work like 100% cotton watercolor paper. It’s great as a practice book before moving on to the expensive watercolor paper. It has a nice ivory color that is not too white or yellow. Oh and I love the hard bound linen-like cover. I have almost used up my current A5 one and plan to get another one. If Born can produce a 200gsm sketchbook in A4 size with at least 60 pages of similar paper but improve the paper sizing, softcover (to keep cost low), and priced below AUD18, I think it will be popular with urban sketchers and those who use mixed media :-)...
