Drywall repairs, ceiling tiles, etc. Walking our huge hospital to task after task, a large shop vac would be a huge pain to tote around. Also there isn’t always a power supply right next to you and with so much foot traffic you cannot have extension cords everywhere. This shop vac has never failed me or have I ever been in a situation I’ve had to say that it just wasn’t capable. Larger debris that can’t fit through the hose, can be swept up or picked up by hand. Drywall dust, insulation, ceiling tile dust, saw dust, cleaning out my truck. I’ve even used this to vacuum up an apartments water leak probably 20-30 gallons of water. When sucking up water of course remove the air filter like any other shop vac. The unit does shut down once the container is full. Which is nice not having water mist all over you like other 120 units I’ve used that fill to the very top. Battery life is perfect on this, but you need at least a 4amp hour battery. I’ve invested and have a total of (4) 4amp hour batteries and have 4 standard 2 or 2.5 whatever came with my drill. Which still work but you’ll get maybe 20 minutes of constant run time with the 2.5amp hour. The battery life indicator on top of the vac is so handy. Once I notice it’s about dead, I go ahead and swap the battery and put that one on my quick charger. By the time I go through another battery in a half, I’ll have another charged and just continue as needed. If your needing a portable vac for small service type work, mobile detailing, shop clean up for saw dust etc. I highly recommend this vac, all of my guys always ask me if they can buy one on the company card. Some of my guys have dewalt, Makita, and Milwaukee’s box style vac. The Milwaukee doesn’t have any comparison to this unit. I’ve had them side by side in the field and the guy with the Milwaukee to me wow I wasted my money on this. So if your a Bosch tool guy and willing to spend the extra to get at least (2) 4amp batteries or larger. You’ll love this unit, guarantee it. But do not expect this little vac to suck up entire 2x4 studs or large demo heavy tile etc. This is for smaller easy clean up and has been one of my best investments in a tool yet.

Very well thought out little vac. I have a (yellow) cordless vac for work that never impressed me. It's nice to have the ability to clean up a little mess with the same battery used in the drill, but the D vac always seemed pretty weak on the 18v battery (maybe it's better on the newer 20v?). The one thing I like that it has that this Bosch doesn't is a power plug, other than that the Bosch is much better in every measure. Way better suction, longer hose, more attachments, clever transparent bin so you can see when it's time to empty it. I haven't used it as a wet vac yet (and might never need to), but for cleaning up vehicles, drywall dust, and sawdust from miter and table saws outside its been great. If you let it run continuously the 4.0 ah battery only lasts about 10 or 12 minutes (I think, didn't have a timer set) so if you have a lot to vacuum be sure to have multiple or larger batteries? Most of what I use it for is a few minutes here or there so so it hasn't been an issue. Great little shop vac!

Excellent design and a pleasure to use!
22 November 2020

This little vac is incredibly well thought out and a pleasure to use. It has onboard storage for every accessory and a super simple but effective hose holder. The hose is of excellent quality, won't collapse under vacuum, yet also remains very flexible. The hose ends are sealed to the vacuum and nozzle with rubber rings, and both ends pivot very freely, meaning you can use it without constantly needing two hands to adjust the angle of the nozzle. There is a battery meter on top of the unit so you don't have to check the charge state on the battery itself, which lives under a hinged door. The motor has a soft start which should help with longevity, and runs far quieter but more powerfully than the Milwaukee cordless vac, and there is no blower port to scatter dust ... MoreThis little vac is incredibly well thought out and a pleasure to use. The exhaust is silenced. The dirt bin releases with two clamps and is circular where it meets the motor base, so no need to align anything when reattaching, and no parts are attached to the bin, so it comes off instantly. While the bin is off, the vac sits nicely on its filter and doesn't tip over and scatter dust everywhere. The dirt feed is cyclonic, which will keep the filter cleaner if you empty it regularly. The filter is HEPA rated. The accessory extensions are long enough that it is comfortable to vacuum the floor from a standing position without having to bend down. Run time on a 4Ah battery is more than adequate for day to day jobs around the house. One of the best designed tools I've ever used!

Great, but you will need a couple 8Ah batteries
21 July 2020

This has been a great little cordless vacuum. I have been using it for mobile dust collection around my shop. It's no replacement for a larger corded dust collection system, but is easy to move around and not having the cord is very convenient. I also appreciate the quick connector on the end of the hose that works great with the Bosch quick connect dust port adapter. This makes switching the vac between tools with a tight secure connection super easy. This thing does chew through batteries. You will NEED a couple of 8Ah batteries to cycle between if you plan on using this for any extended amount of time. Also, the vacuum needs an anti-static coating or something as dust sticks to the outside of it like non-other, but I don't really care much about that as I'm using it in a shop and everything is going to be a bit dusty.Overall this vacuum has met my hobbyist needs for dust collection in my small shop. At some point, I will get a full-fat corded dust collector, but those are several hundred dollars and even if I had a large dust collector, I would still have uses for this vacuum. If you are already invested in the Bosch battery system for other tools I would definitely recommend this tool.

Surprisingly Powerful.

Surprisingly powerful for a battery operated vacuum. Picked this up on sale with 2, 4-amp hour batteries (note: no charger included so you'll need to have one already). Love the convenience of not having to plug in to do a quick clean up in the house, on my boat or in the shop. Sucked up everything I used it on including some screws and small stones. Run time is pretty good with the 4-amp hour battery. Will probably pick up an 8-amp hour battery eventually. My only small complaints are that while it comes with an adapter for attaching it to tools, there's no place to store it on the tool like with the other attachments so I'm concerned it will get lost or misplaced. Also, the battery level indicator on the tool doesn't always match the indicator on the battery. ... MoreSurprisingly powerful for a battery operated vacuum. Terrible at best!

Got this solely to suction the little bit of water left at bottom of hot tub after draining it. First time I used it and within 5 mins of use (fully charged battery), it stopped working as water seemed to have been suctioned where it should have not been. Tried again, same thing. Returned unit and had exactly the same issue. No good! Extremely disappointed. Will try another brand.

Weak battery
1 December 2021

So I was excited to own this cordless small size wet/dry vacuum because it is convenient to store and I could use it as a car vac as well. I was disappointed that it did not come with a strap as depicted in the picture with the male model. I was even more so disappointed that I cannot get a full five minutes on the battery to vacuum my car, which is all the time I would need. It starts off on four bars (even when fully charged) and in no time it decreases to one and shuts off. It has been that way from I purchased it which prompted me to buy a second battery as a backup (because I really like the vacuum) but the second one yielded the same result. I should not need to use two batteries for a 5 minute job. My husband has other batteries as well for his Bosch power ... MoreSo I was excited to own this cordless small size wet/dry vacuum because it is convenient to store and I could use it as a car vac as well. My husband has other batteries as well for his Bosch power tools and I have to borrow them so now I have four batteries fully charged and on standby whenever I use the vacuum. Does not make any sense whatsoever. While he gets great result with his power tools the battery only lasts less than 4 minutes with the vacuum.

[Rewarded Review] Wanted to like it, but it broke too soon
24 December 2018

I was in the market for a new portable shop vac, after a workshop renovation project. I have all Bosch power tools, so immediately I looked to the same brand for a portable shop vac. I’ve burned up way too many “Shop Vac brand” vacs and still have a Rigid 3.5 HP for shop cleanup that’s lasted for well over 5 years now. I wanted something that was small, easy to use for cleaning off my workbenches, cleaning out the cars and other odd jobs. I liked that this Bosch had no blower port and the exhaust was a muffled port on the opposite side of the intake. This keeps the noise lower and the chance of blowing around the debris that I’m cleaning up to a minimum. I’ve also got a large ensemble of Bosch 18V batteries, ranging from 2 to 4 aH, knowing that these were on the low ... MoreI was in the market for a new portable shop vac, after a workshop renovation project. I liked that this Bosch had no blower port and the exhaust was a muffled port on the opposite side of the intake. This keeps the noise lower and the chance of blowing around the debris that I’m cleaning up to a minimum. I’ve also got a large ensemble of Bosch 18V batteries, ranging from 2 to 4 aH, knowing that these were on the low end of what this unit needed, but would work for a short time.My boss gave me a $100 Visa gift card for Christmas and low and behold, this unit dropped to $99 for the holiday sales. So, off to Lowe’s to pick this unit up and begin testing...so I thought.I grabbed the last unit off the shelf, quickly got it home, unboxed it, put in a freshly charged 4 aH battery and turned it on. First things first...this unit is not as small as the image on the Lowe’s site makes it look. It’s a good size, but do note that it is about as wide as a kitchen rice steamer (best thing I could quickly compare it to) and about twice as tall. The motor sounds sort of like a jet engine the way it winds up and has a much lower sound than my last 2.5 HP corded Shop Vac, so a huge plus in that area. Now, when I grabbed the hose, I noticed that the end would not stay on. The intake side and the suction side both are supposed to have a locking ring. I noticed that the intake side had a loose, red, plastic ring and the suction side was missing the locking ring. I later found it in two pieces in the bottom of the box. After a closer look, the plastic was thin and fragile and if it broke before I opened it, there’s no way this thing would last in my workshop.I hooked the intake side of the hose to the unit and tested the suction and while it did seem to have a notable strength, I could definitely tell that this was a cordless unit. While disconnecting the hose from the base (a simple push of the red tabs), that ring also snapped in half, leaving no possible way of keeping the hose attached at either end now. Unfortunately, this unit did not last more than an hour in my house, so I was not able to test the battery performance. The unit was immediately taken back to the store for a refund and I did not even attempt to exchange it for the same thing. Instead, I took my refund over to the “orange store” and picked up a Milwaukee cordless shop vac which is night and day different from this unit and I’m 10 times happier with. Sad since I have all Bosch tools. I’ve got the added cost of Milwaukee batteries now, but with the performance improvement over this Bosch...I may start replacing some of my power tools now.Appearance: greatSuction: mediocreSize: small to mediumQuality: very poor

not very strong suction, wont replace your shopvac
6 March 2024

not very strong suction, wont replace your standard plugged in shopvac. can't usually suck up a single screw. but its decent for some crumbs, dust or dog hair in a corner. Almost returned mine, the convince of a battery operated vac was just enough to tilt me towards to keeping it. Had they not included the battery for free as a gift, I would have been very upset.
