I had seen this Bosch work bench in use at a friend's house which he was using to support wood while he cut it to extend his shed. I was impressed and needing a new one myself, I examined it more closely. It was sturdy and easy to operate, the method used to extend it using your foot after pressing 2 buttons being much easier than my old one which was a struggle. You can extend this bench without having to bend down too far. It also folds up very quickly and takes up very little space when put away. I found one at a competitive price at Wicked and so I ordered one. I have already used it to support some beading I was cutting for some replacement windows. Being soveasy to use and steady/ sturdy, it will get plenty of use.

Nicely engineered workmate. A lot lighter than a Black and Decker and no more sharp corners on the frame - it’s built using aluminium extrusions. It lifts up and folds down really easily - much easier than the Black & Decker… once it’s up it’s just the same as any workmate… the only downside is that it’s less firm than a steel-frame one, it does wobble with side-to-side action… there is a stabilising bar for you to put your foot on whilst working which helps, but it’s a lot less stable. But it’s a much nicer product to own!

Purchased this work bench as my 20 year old Black & Decker finally had to be replaced and not happy about the quality of the new ones. The Bosch PWB 600 is a good looking & well engineered piece of equipment. It is easy to put up and a joy to carry around, much less awkward than the B & D and much lighter. The work area is quite large, but the overall stability is not as good, as does not have splayed legs, so not quite so good when planing pieces by hand. Not quite sure about the under work area storage compartment because, if you forget there are things in it when you fold it up, they fall out. In general though, very pleased with the work bench.

This is probably the best folding workbench I have owned. It is much nicer than the better-known ones I have had in the past. It has a good sized work area and folds flat very nicely - I don't know of another one that folds flat so well. BUT there is one area that concerns me: the sliding part of the top runs on plastic runners which, whilst they look quite sturdy on this model, are the Achilles heel of the design as they are the components which take the clamping loads when gripping workpieces. So many decent folding work benches are compromised by substandard components in this area and I would have hoped Bosch engineers would have realised this. I'm fully expecting in about 6 months' time one or both of the plastic runners to fail. The other disappointing feature ... MoreThis is probably the best folding workbench I have owned. I'm fully expecting in about 6 months' time one or both of the plastic runners to fail. The other disappointing feature is the so-called tool tray between the clamping handles which is neither use nor ornament. Get rid of that and Bosch could offer an excellent product with an RRP below £100.
I received this product two months ago and have purposely left my review until now to fully test the product, and I am well pleased. The bench is, in opinion well made and its operation is very smooth and easy. I have previously owned two B&D Workmates over many years which do have a wider jaw as the top section detaches and moves out to another pin hole, but the construction of this Bosch product is much better that is does not matter. The Bosch PBW 600 is sturdier, folds up much tighter for storage, is aluminium and bamboo wood, and it has performed very well, using either the clamp plugs supplied or my G clamps. I feel that I have made a very good decision in my purchase and I am sure that this bench will give me good service for many years.
The folding mechanism falls apart after some use and because the parts are so tiny it was irreparable because they were lost. I ended up putting my own screws in to hold the worktop in place but I can't fold the worktop down now. Overall just not sturdy enough for a diy project like a shed build.
This is my first impression 24 h after receiving the bench. (It came so rapidly: I ordered it in the afternoon, selected standard (free) delivery, and it came the next lunchtime. Not bad!)Pros:1. As others have said it is quite light, and easy to fold and unfold. A testament to German ingenuity and plastics technology.2. The worktop is great, and looks good for assembling and cramping up drawers etc.3. It is stable on a flat floor under a vertical load.4. It's probably the folding bench I'd carry around to do light jobs in the house.5. 3-year guarantee.Cons:1. It's very springy - when I tried to plane a piece of timber with a jack plane it deflected at least 6 mm, even when I stood on the black floor bar. It's very springy - when I tried to plane a piece of timber with a jack plane it deflected at least 6 mm, even when I stood on the black floor bar. I reduced deflection to 3 mm by adding a piece of 6 x 1" timber between the legs above the green plastic brace - hardly a convenient option. The bench is, however, more stable if you push it against a wall. It also springs a bit front-to-back when you sharpen tools, I suppose I was expecting too much from a lightweight bench - for heavy planing you can't beat a proper (and expensive) heavy timber bench. Meanwhile, my 40-year-old B&D WM625 (the one with the alloy H-frames), which the Bosch bench is supposed to replace, is as solid as a rock, if rather battered, and I'll probably end up using it more.2. The pegs (dogs) don't grip that well, being very slippery, and when I tried to tighten them to give a really good grip, I could feel the two table tops bulging up slightly. A pad of gaffer tape on the dog faces improved the grip.3. There's a lot of plastic components, and I certainly wouldn't leave the bench out in the sun. Conclusion: it's a good bench for light jobs, and a lot depends on what you want to use it for. It would probably be better for power tools than old-fashioned hand tools.
This is definitely a case of getting what you pay for. I’m happy to pay extra and get a product like this. It’s sturdy, easy to access and store and really good to handle stuff when you need a good workbench. I looking forward to using this workbench heaps!
This is a sturdy, yet light portable bench. I have been a life long user of workmates and after about 50 years decided to try something different. Being built largely of aluminium it is possibly not quite as sturdy as the steel competitors but it has many advantages.I liked:Ease of putting up - very simpleStorage tray alongside the topLarger top areaFolds flatEarly days but it clamps well and does the job.I was so impressed I bought another one for my son!
