Compact and very strong

I bought this for a project using very rough oak. The GHO had no problems working with such uneven and hardwood.There is a lot of micro-adjustment to the depth of cut and is very easy to use.It is fairly battery hungry but looking at the results this is a very small con.I wish I had bought it a long time ago as I will use this in every project I'm sure.

Expensive and small handle.

The handle is very small for big hands, if you don't have a battery on it seems it is going to fall off your hand. Plus it should come with a paper box so we know it is not used! and very expensive for 12V planer.

Great after I got used to it

2 tips for new users1) be to apply down pressure only to the back half of the unit behind the cutter.2) you can release safety slider after starting the unit. My hand doesn't sit comfortably unless I do.I've used on door to ease the fit and band sawn planks to improve the finish. Good results for both.Can get through batteries in about 15mins use so advisable to have a few.Only criticism is that the depth adjuster is not calibrated. I use about 0.1mm per click. Might take a bit more than that

Invaluable finish planer

This little planer is can do so many finish jobs - on doors, window frames an all sorts of furniture. It is far from the power of the bigger 8.2cm wide planers, but you can do with it things and get into places that you just can't do with the bigger ones. Top quality from Bosch on this tool, and thumbs up for them for their latest brushless, ery light handy and portable tools like this one, the 12v small router, the multitool, drill- drivers, etc.

Lightweight & versatile

This planer takes all the anxiety away from using the conventional, mains-powered tools, which are heavy and can be tricky to control. Perfect for all kinds of work in the shop, it feel more like a hand plane, is beautifully controllable and cuts fast and accurately. Better with the higher-capacity batteries.

Lightweight electric planer with great features.

This item is a great electric plane for doing lighter tasks in smaller jobs, The plane is light to use in weight to your hand using smaller 12 v batteries. Quite powerful for a small plane also you can rebate with with this up to 17mm deep. It can plane up to 56mm wide. I also have the 18v Bosch cordless plane its bigger brother, but I find myself using the smaller one a lot more now. I rate this tool 100% another winner from Bosch.

Replaces a Hand Plane

I have a few 12v Bosch tools now(18v all Makita)Its a fantastic little tool and to my mind replaces my Stanley smoothing Plane.It gets in places where other planers struggle and allthough power is limited, with a 6 amp battery it is very capable.As others have mentioned the rebate facility is a great asset.Like the 12v saw you will find it wonder why you took so long to buy.The only problem I found is you need a dustbag for it as it is not supplied(around £20) Also Bosch Service is not as good as Makita.

Superb

This is a superb tool. When you want to do a delicate planing job you need low weight and good feel - which is exactly what you get. I have used other small one-handed planers, but this is in another league. I especially like the rebating feature- I have not seen it on any other tool. This is not a cheap tool- but quality rarely is.

Very effective

Just recently bought a few of the bosch pro 12V tools and was realy impressed. Needed a planer for occasional use and had the batteries already so went for this model. First impressions were great. Feels substantial given its small size and the quality is obvious.Pros;- Decent planing width considering the compact size- Depth increments of 0.1mm per click of the wheel, a doddle to set the depth. Given it's size and the battery power, that's about what I expected.Cons;- It's a lmore expensive than other tools in the range- As expected of this type of tool, it runs through batteries pretty quick if you've a lot of planing to do. I was getting 5 to 10 mins of continuous planing on floor boards per fully charged 3A/h battery. It's what I expected but if you;ve a lot of planing to do you'll need more than one battery to keep going.
