Bosch Professional 1600W 216mm Sliding Compound Mitre Saw GCM 8 Sde

As with all Bosch Professional tools I find this very well made and full of useful features . It is light enough to move around the work site especially with the carry handle (not balanced for single handed carrying though ) .Easy to use and accurate cuts . I struggled with the instruction manual , needed a bit more thought , ie pull out graphics page to ease relating to so many part numbers in the dialogue , but this is only a short term moan . Early days yet but so impressive , you get what you pay for with this mitre saw , no hesitation to recommend .

Excellent saw, needed a few tweaks to ensure it's cuts accurately. Adjustments are really easy to make though. The weight of the machine is relatively light compared to some others and makes transporting it easy. I have mine set up on a Dewalt mitre saw stand and it fits perfectly.Was a bit disappointed with the dust extraction, this is not the best. I had to purchase some adapters in order to fit my Trend shop vac (an added expense), but again straightforward enough to do. I got the cen-tec adapters available elsewhere and they work a treat.Overall very happy with the saw and would highly recommend it so long as you are aware of its cutting capacities being only a 216mm blade (plenty big enough for my needs).

The mitre saw is a great piece of kit good value for money. Easy set up with good accuracy and adjustability. Effortless through oak which is nice 😊Laser needs setting up for accuracy and not very visible when outside. Green would be better.

Great accurate saw

Great saw so far. Sturdy construction. Found it very easy going through a fence post, almost getting through a 100mm one.Seems quite quiet too with a slow start. Had a Erbauer saw before and this seems so much more accurate, especially with bevel cuts. Sliding bed extenders on the sides are off the ground so easy to pull the out without them dragging on the floor or having to lift the saw up.Also the two bars which the saw attached to are very sturdy adding to its accuracy. Portable too as it comes with me in my van and it’s not too heavy. Very happy!

I haven't had much chance

Its ok

I bougth this after my dewalt saw was stolen, the saw is very reasonably priced for a professional saw but after using it for a year its easy to see why. Good points - the saw is very compact for its cut capabilities. I think its the only Double bevel saw on an 216mm blade. And its really easy to use. On the down side this saw is not very accurate the mitre slots are sloppy and plastic and if you dont keep an eye on things you can easily be out. There is a small metal plate that slides in and out when beveling this often needs unscrewing to remove dust as it gets blocked. The dust hose needs to retract as it slides back and foward but this almost acts as a spring when you pull the saw foward it wants to spring back. I ordered it the day before my birthday and it arrived the morning after my birthday so 10/10 for efficiency. First thought once opened the box, the saw looks and feel very well made and robust. There are lots of good features on the saw. It did take me some time to work out all the features and how to release and set a the features. I needed to read the manual to get my head around them all, but it is not rocket science, just takes some time. I have a commercial Dewalt Cross Cut which is slow to start and cross cuts 33", I used it for cutting worktops and larger panels. I often find my cross cut and my rip saw are set up for pre cut sizes and then I need something else cut and having to take a saw out of the precise setting to make the cuts, this is a pain to reset. The mitre saw will mean I don't have that problem again. I also wanted a saw that cut a range of angles and bevels and this saw does all that. It does need a good check to ensure all the angles are 100% right but that is not a problem. I really like this saw and have no issues recommending it at all. Just one final point. I wanted a stand with my saw. I looked at the stands offered with this saw and the reviews were mixed. In the end I went for the Dewalt DE7033. Not much to say about other than 100% great! As I was not used to mitre saws and stand I called Axminster to ensure the saw and stand would match, they assured they would. I am so glad I bought this stand. See my review on it. Now I have it I can see it will fix ANY mitre saw no matter what make. The fixing arms will fit any saw but if the didn't, Dewalt recommend you put 19mm/3/4" ply between the stands fixing brackets and the saw. they say make the base wider than you saw. That mean you fit the ply to the mounting brackets and you fit the saw to the ply. If you are following me here, you can see it will fit any saw and is well worth the wee bit extra cash. So go on buy both, I would if I had to do it again.

Very good saw

I’ve had this a little while now so been able to use it on a few jobs. I got this saw with the dewalt stand after reading another review here and am very pleased with both. There are some tiny niggles out of the box but for the most part these are solvable. The saw isn’t perfectly set square, but not many are so getting it adjusted takes half an hour. The saw bed and extensions aren’t perfectly flat but not by much (extensions a fraction low) but the stand supports can remedy that. The dust collection is okay out of the box, I’ve made a longer dust collection shroud which improved that massively. I really like that the vac port is fixed rather than on the saw head, once that’s set up it doesn’t drag the hose about or work loose. Duel bevel saves turning the workpiece round, particularly handy in small work spaces (but it’s important to remember to move the sliding parts of the fence out of the way, which does get tiresome if switching between cuts. Not sure there’s much that can be done about that). I fit kitchens and bathrooms so there’s aluminium and plastic trims as well as wood to cut and the speed control and tool-less blade change are great for being able to do that most efficiently. I’m also really happy with the depth stop for switching between making cuts or housings. The trigger is comfortable for left and right hand use. Overall I would certainly recommend this little saw, glad I opted for this rather than the SJL as the extras on this make it so much nicer to use.

I bought it with the stand on sale for $699, it's an awesome saw for the price and the quality is better than some of the Makita drop saw, it's so good I ended up buying two. wait for it to go back on sale and grab a bargain. It's a very good saw I use them daily for work.

fantastic light weight saw

Needed a mitre saw for domestic fitting and trim work in the workshop. looked at the Festool and this one, glad I made this choice as I can't see that for the extra money the Festool would do anymore.Its nicely made and accurate with easy adjustment systems. I can't say I'm usually a fan of lasers but I have to say the one on this machine is good and easy to adjust.One thing that is a real bonus for those of us using a Festool extractor is that the 36mm Festool hose fits snug into the outlet on the back of this machine. I did line the inside of the spigot with duct tape to cover the two holes and offer a little friction to prevent it from falling out which has made it very secure. I was slightly worried about the hose between the saw body and the extraction spigot but it seems to be very robust.The double bevel and the 60 degree right mitre are both excellent attributes to this saw.
