The cutlery basket itself is very small (be prepared to be stabbed loading it when partly full and when lifting it out to empty it) and the individual compartments within the basket are too small to fit many of our cutlery items eg dinner forks (neither of these were an issue with previous Bosch dishwasher). While design caters for tall stemmed wine glasses, standard highball glasses are not able to be securely loaded (again not an issue with previous Bosch dishwasher). Space can't be fully maximised to cater for our cups so need to run dishwasher more frequently. The flexibility of being able to vary the racks is useless if they don't cater for some variation in design of standard basic items. Our cutlery, cups and glasses are not unusual in design, size or shape. ... MoreThe cutlery basket itself is very small (be prepared to be stabbed loading it when partly full and when lifting it out to empty it) and the individual compartments within the basket are too small to fit many of our cutlery items eg dinner forks (neither of these were an issue with previous Bosch dishwasher). This appliance stacks, washes and dries excellently, with a great range of programs. It is very quiet. I have some suggestions about its installation and future removal. The 2 front feet were stiff to rotate and difficult to access with a spanner in the restricted space. Adjusting the rear foot with a screwdriver was easy. The design of the front feet could be improved; a screw mechanism like the rear foot would be ideal. The user manual includes a paragraph on page 55 about "Removing the appliance". That paragraph should include an additional point about lowering the front and rear feet before pulling the appliance out from the kitchen cabinet.

This Bosh dishwasher is a great washer. Dishes always clean. Only real issue is that large dinner plates cause the rotating spray arm of the basket above to hit the plates and stop working. The mid basket can not be raised to give plate clearance. Have to bend the plate prongs down to lean the plates over, reducing the height of the plates relative to the washing arm above. When using Speed wash + Efficient dry cycle, plastic ware may come out little damp at times. At times on this cycle rinse aid can drip onto clean dry dishes below the rinse aid dispenser. Tech coming to check it out under warranty, may be a fault.

Good improvements in new S8 model. Happy customer.
6 December 2021

We replaced our 10 year old Bosch Dishwasher with this 2021 Series 8 model. The Stainless Steel seems to have been improved and is more robust. I like the red indicators that highlight what can be customised/changed in the trays. The active zone with the three jets in the middle tray is new and works well although I can never recall which way the on/off switch should be. I was concerned that the top tray is no longer set up for cutlery. The cutlery storage has returned to the "old fashioned" cutlery basket located in the bottom tray. However, it is surprising what items I can place in the new top tray - it is surprisingly roomy - more roomy and practicle than the older cutlery draw. And the cutlery basket isn't too bad afterall as I typically take it out and load it up at the sink when I have a big washup. This allows another person to keep stacking the trays without having the old cuttley draw in the way. So, overall a good change. The remore control app on my iPhone works well. Easy to step up and I can operate the machine from my iPhone over our WiFi. But this is not a big advantage for me - more of a "show the dinner guests" gimick that generates an interesting discussion about technology's push into creating "smart" homes. This dishwasher is quieter than our replaced model although both were rated at 42dB. Maybe it is because it is very new compared to the 10 year old one. The quick dry feature that "pops" the door to allow steam to be released works well and does not result in plumes of steam into the kitchen as I expected. Overall I am very pleased with this new machine and its improvements over my early Bosch model. This is actually my third Bosch dishwasher - I keep coming back to Bosch for our dishwasher as they have proved to be very reliable, efficient and spare parts are easy to order online & fit, if ever they are needed (eg the clips that operate the foldable prongs do wear out from constant use overtime). I am a very happy Bosch dishwasher customer. Cheers...

Great machine let down by poor design
6 May 2022

We are big Bosch fans. So when we built a new home Bosch was our first choice for appliances. This is the second series 8 dishwasher we have own the last one sold before we tore the house down. We brought this machine assuming it's internal layout would be the same or better, no way did I ever think it would be the massive step back in rack design it is. From the useless top rack, not enough space for tumblers on the glass rack, confusing bottom rack for plates which is lost to the 1990s cutlery basket!!!! Why! Why! We were so impressed by the 2019 model series 8 design we recommended it to all our friends. I so wish we would have not sold our old machine! Would love to swap it for a better design. Happy Purchase
24 November 2021

Partner and I have lived without a dishwasher for 10 years, finally in a place where we can install one. We considered other brands but looked at bosch's reputation and went with it. Super happy with this. I'm glad we ignored the 'gimmicks' of other brands. Dishwasher is beautiful, and easy to install. No nasty suprises in that space. Our first wash we tested it with some brand new glassware we have bought, and also some really old stuff we've had around for ages that have been handwashing in our old home for last 3 years. Left it on overnight and blown away. So glad we reached for the auto-open model as the door was open this morning, no condensation on our glassware. We are stoked, it all dried Well and the dishwasher was easy to stack, it's so silent. Also the homeconnect is great - controlling off your phone is awesome. Whilst it's only early days, recommend this over any other brand. Can't wait to get into our old bakeware.

Horrible! Buy an Older Series 8 Model
13 January 2022

I owned the Bosch SMU88TS02A previously at my old house, and it was great. Unfortunately, I had to leave that dishwasher and purchase a new one at my new home - we settled on the SMU8EDS01A dishwasher as our old Bosh was excellent and thought this one would be as well. That was a mistake. This dishwasher is horrible. It has next to no information on the screen, like the old one did, such as which stage of cycle it is in or when rinse aid needs to be topped up. You get some extra information via the Home Connect app, but as far as we can tell, the dishwasher can only be connected to one Home Connect user - you need a minimum of two for a family household. The top tray is no longer for cutlery, so you have to use the cutlery basket, which takes up too much space in the bottom drawer. The middle drawer sits too low, so you can't fit standard dinner plates in the bottom drawer. Nothing gets cleaned properly because the spray arm hits the plates - it is worse near the centre because the spray arm is thicker. The variable height of the middle draw is a waste and pointless because you can't fit dinner plates in the bottom when it is at its highest, so you would never lower it. The previous model, which had the buttons at the top, was much easier to use because they are easy to read when the door is open and did not require bending over to read like this model does. It also doesn't seem to be as quiet as our old dishwasher, but that could be because we are in a different house. There is no light inside this dishwasher, there is on the older model which was called emotionLight.

I prefer the older model
23 March 2023

We moved into a new home, and missed our old Serie 8 dishwasher. I went online to purchase another, and noticed that many of the features we enjoyed had changed, such as the standard cutlery drawer. However, we had to purchase a new appliance so I went with this one. Although the new appliance cleans dishes well, we disklike the layout so much that I have had to spend another approx $150 to buy a replacement cutlery drawer to use instead of the top tray. We also turned off the auto-door opening as it left everything inside damp. Far more effective to run a hot cycle and leave the appliance closed for retained heat to dry the dishes. Still prefer the Bosch appliance to the other one that was here! But wish we could have kept our 2016 model.

We bought the Bosch Serie 8 underbench dishwasher as the Miele was not available for between 4-6 weeks from our order date. I figured that the Bosch was an approximately equivalent "premium" product, my wife and I wanted to ensure we spent good money on a reliable product as we are time poor (like everyone else) with our 16 month daughter running around and a family home being actively renovated by ourselves. The dishwasher was intended to simplify our lives, to make it a little easier.I purchased the dishwasher on November 22nd, 2021, brand new from Appliances Online. The dishwasher was intended to simplify our lives, to make it a little easier.I purchased the dishwasher on November 22nd, 2021, brand new from Appliances Online. I also purchased an extended care package from Appliances Online. The machine was delivered on November 23rd and installed on November the 25th. On December 17th the machine showed error code 31-00 and would not operate.I contacted Bosch, they said the error indicated a safety switch had been triggered and a service technician would have to attend a week later, the dishwasher was out of service. After 24 days of ownership, we had to wait around 5 days to have the issue resolved (I wasn't happy, but I thought 5 days was not too bad). The Bosch technician came and took the 28 day old machine apart, told us that there was an internal leak in the machine which was leaking water into the base of the unit, which is what triggered the safety switch. He said the issue was a factory defect and that is would take multiple future visits to try and diagnose, he couldn't not diagnose it easily or on the current service visit as there were multiple things that could be the issue. He subsequently booked in weekly visits to continue to assess the machine to attempt to diagnose and fix the issue. I will not repeat what he said after this to us, but my disappointment was extreme.Essentially Bosch have supplied us with a $2000 Lemon, sitting in our kitchen like a 600x900x600mm paperweight, Bosch will insist on trying to fix the factory faulty machine, all the while we do not have access to a dishwasher for our young daughter's bottles etc. needing to be cleaned by hand. We have been without the $2000 "premium" dishwasher for 9 days out of 35 days of ownership, with no end in site for the repair, just a weekly service technician booking to try and fix the factory fault, due to no fault of our own.The only mistake I made, was buying this Bosch dishwasher, to say that we a beyond disappointed is an understatement. We also own a Bosch Serie 8 clothes washer and a Bosch Serie 8 clothes dryer, both purchased this year as well, and are now really worried that we will experience the same result with those appliances too, we no longer have any confidence in Bosch, really quite sad.

good and quiet
27 March 2023

I recently purchased a dishwasher and have been really impressed with its performance. Not only does it clean dishes exceptionally well, but it's also surprisingly quiet during operation. One of my favorite features is the automatic door opening function, which allows the dishes to dry thoroughly without any manual intervention.Another aspect of this dishwasher that I really appreciate is the ability to control the baskets inside. This gives me more flexibility to arrange dishes and utensils in a way that makes the most sense for my needs. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend this dishwasher to others looking for a high-quality and versatile option.
