Bosch Unlimited 6 BBS611GB Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, 18V, Blue, 2 Batteries

In my opinion, this is a very smart, sturdy, lightweight hand-held unit, which is very comfortable to hold. Switch keeps unit 'on' until you press again to turn 'off'. Easy to use. Easy to empty. Glides over laminate flooring and thin carpets but needs a bit of effort to push along a thick carpet (which is difficult for anyone with weak wrists, especially the elderly).There is a wonderful accessory for removing all the fluff from under fridges, radiators, sideboards, wardrobes and beds etc.,I also love the fact there are 2 batteries. All Good Until You Use It

I almost exclusively use JL and always write a review a while after purchase to help others make a decision as well as helpful tips, I always find a 'poor' or 'great' is no help. Lots to say that is good, as usual JL and Waitrose 'click & collect' was supreme in ease & speed. Well packaged, reassuringly said 'made in Germany', looks well made, precision clicks/fit when all parts connected, easy to use. I love Bosch which is why I got this and it pains me to give only two stars so why? Well everything is fabulous until you use it, it is after all a vacuum so I'm not marking it on glamour! Firstly it's missing a brush end, weirdly the lower model has this attachment, you cannot vacuum skirting boards etc. Solution, I ordered direct from Bosch UK the brush attachment, you think you have the wrong item sent but it extends from a small velcro to a brush, no click so if you push when vacuuming it slides back to velcro! There is little suction on standard mode nor is there enough power to spin the main brush head, Turbo power manages this but a fully charge battery lasts 1 min 50 secs (manual says 5-6 mins). Utterly useless. The brush head is stiff and clogs up rather than sucking up into the chamber. The chamber needs to be emptied regularly, easy enough but do it outside, you will need a paint brush to clean the filter, mesh and chamber (dust everywhere). All in all pretty useless, 4 hours charging for 1 min 50 sec + 1 min 50secs for the back up battery. I went back to my main cylinder plug in vacuum, does house in one go and bag lasts 3 months without a daily dust excreting clean. My carpets are 3 years old, high end 80% wool and vacuuming entails just dust and a few crumbs etc. Almost forgot, these vacuum tubes are standard size so my German vac brush & attachments off my mains vac actually fit this Bosch. I'm not convinced I've totally wasted my money as it will be useful for the car but my advice to anyone, if other cordless vacs are like this keep using your mains and have a much cheaper 'sweeper only' back up, this is NOT a mains vac.

Combination Efforts

Excellent replacement for upright mains cleaner

Good: it's much lighter than the mains upright cleaner it replaced, so great for taking upstairs.The battery is more than sufficient to clean my whole house (4 bed detached) without need to recharge. I did buy the model with a spare battery, which has enabled me to by a Bosch 18v hedge trimmer and hand held trimmer without the need to get another battery or charger.The absence of a power cable makes it far easier to navigate around furniture.While not as powerful as the mains cleaner it seems to clean just as well. A very good buy.

Horses for Courses

I clearly bought the wrong machine, though unsure what this would be useful for. It is light! The battery life very short and cannot recharge immediately as battery too hot. Doesn't suck up anything that is flat on floor, piece of paper, leaf etc. I have had to use wire to clean the bottom flexi part which becomes clogged up with dust. Even the long metal connecting tube has to be poked to clear! One of the wheels jams fixed and makes it harder to operate. The bag size is pointless. I have nothing but Bosch appliances, most lasting years with no problems but this item and a washer I bought this year are the first ones that I have ever had to complain about. Very. very disappointed

Power Brush

We bought this in March and have had problems using the power brush on carpets due to the brush head resisting when going against the pile. Otherwise it is a lightweight and easy to use and excellent on hard floors. I spoke to Bosch who confirmed it's not possible to adjust the power brush head on carpets and no other attachments are available. Very disappointing as it could be such a good lightweight vacuum cleaner. I returned to the store but as there's nothing wrong with the appliance they were unable to help. In my view this is a design fault that Bosch need to resolve. After trying to persevere for one month we have decided to buy another appliance .

Problem with power brush

This cleaner is lightweight and great to use in hard floor areas, however it is difficult to use on carpets when you go against the pile, and the power brush does not have a reduced power setting or lower brush setting for use on carpets. Bosch need to look at the design of the power brush for use on carpets. I spoke to their after sales and there are no other attachments available for this model, they were unable to help other than offer an engineer visit. There's nothing wrong with the appliance other than the design, so this is a waste of time. Very disappointing, we are now looking for a new appliance having only had this for 1 month.

Great cordless vacuum cleaner. Very quiet. Great suction on the normal power level, meaning the battery lasts longer. I replaced my shark cordless for this Bosch one and I’m so glad I did. Comes with 2 batteries so you’re never without your cleaner. The only negative thing about the cleaner is the battery has to be on the unit to charge. You can store the cleaner on it’s hanging bracket and charge it while it’s hanging but you have to put the bracket near a plug socket, mine is in my larder cupboard in my kitchen, so I have to put the hand held small cleaner on charge in my bedroom when it needs charging. I live in a 2 bed bungalow and can easily clean the whole property on one battery, at least 3 times. The tools you get are great for cleaning the car too. Very pleased

Vacuuming the house falls to me, and now I'm getting on a bit, using our old, heavy, bagged, mains powered, cylinder machine was becoming quite a burden. I looked among the various bagless machines on offer, and particularly liked this Bosch as it is so light, epecially compared with some of the other recommended makes.The battery lasts long enough to let me cover the entire house (2 bedrooms, a main reception room, an office/bedroom, kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a flight of stairs) in one go but, as its a near thing, I have bought an extra identical battery, which I keep charged to ensure I can always do the job as thoroughly as I (sometimes!) wish to. Switching batteries is very simple and only takes seconds. Being very light it is easy to use on stairs - a particular gain over the old cylinder. The space for collecting the dust etc. could usefully be larger, so you may well have to empty it one or two times in the course of a single operation, dependng obviously how often you use it. Emptying it is however very straightforward, though it does take a little bit of practice to start with to get on top of the procedure. I have found the suction good and perfectly sufficient for all my requirements. In summary, I am delighted with the Bosch machine, and won't ever be going back to the old one.
