Excellent value for money. Ive just gone a little over ten years with my previous series 2 Bosch Front Loader before it finally quit on me.In that time it serviced a family of five, sometimes several times a day, without requiring any replacement parts or servicing. When an error arises its easily identifiable due to the error codes and clear solutions are provided. On every occasion it was due to my failure to clean out a drain or filter on a more regular basis rather than a fault of the machines. At a cost of only $850 delivered and installed it could last only half the time of my last and it would still be money well spent.

This was my first washing machine purchase, I had previously had an old hand me down for a number of years. Bosch had been recommended by some family members and I chose this model for its price range and size. It worked great for the first 2 weeks. AO delivered it next day and my partner installed it without difficulty. I loved that I could finally wash clothes in hot water. The main 2 down sides would be the beeping at the end of a cycle and the little bit of water that gets left in the rim, but these are normal components to a washing machine. 18 days after receiving it, it stopped working. Hence my low stars. I rang AO and they said they would get a Bosch representative to call me within 48 hrs. 2 days later I spoke to a Bosch rep, they were happy to send out a ... MoreThis was my first washing machine purchase, I had previously had an old hand me down for a number of years. I rang AO again and they said this was not possible because it was outside of their 7 day return policy. It was now under the 2 year manufacture warranty. I don’t know how long it will take Bosch to repair, they said the part they needed may take 2 weeks to come in from Germany. I am not happy because I paid $899 for a new washing machine and I don’t know when I will have a working one again. Although Bosch and AO have been as helpful as possible, I do not think this is good enough.

Excellent wash from large, 10kg Bosch front loader

I bought my Bosch Serie 8 10kg Front Load Washing Machine, a "Made in Germany" model, WAX32M41AU, for A$1419 from Appliances Online. It was heavily discounted (by maybe about $500) and I now know that this is because it was an end-of-line model (conversation with Appliances Online staff). I'm not too fussed about that because I am happy with the machine, after using it for a couple of weeks, and it had the features I wanted, especially a larger size (10kg) and a "Made in Europe" origin. If Bosch does bring out another 10kg "Made in Germany" model in 2022, I would assume it would be a good machine as well. (My previous machine was an ASKO W6551 Front Loader, 6kg, 50 L drum size, 1500 rpm maximum, Made in Sweden, lasted about 15-16 years without any problems, other ... MoreI bought my Bosch Serie 8 10kg Front Load Washing Machine, a "Made in Germany" model, WAX32M41AU, for A$1419 from Appliances Online. (My previous machine was an ASKO W6551 Front Loader, 6kg, 50 L drum size, 1500 rpm maximum, Made in Sweden, lasted about 15-16 years without any problems, other than being a bit small. ASKO is no longer made in Sweden and the brand is now owned by the Chinese brand Hisense.) The good points about my new Bosch washing machine are that (1) it holds a lot of washing; (2) it takes in the right amount of water both for the wash and two rinses to have the washing fully wet without using excess water; (3) it is quiet and doesn't vibrate much at all during spinning; (4) it has a big 70 L size drum (whereas the 9 kg washer only has a 65 L size drum) yet the size of the whole machine cabinet is no bigger than for the smaller 8-9 kg washers); (5) my previous machine had 3 rinses on a normal cycle, yet this Bosch machine provides good rinsing with only two rinses on a normal cycle; (6) it uses about 1/2 the powder detergent of my previous machine, yet the sudsy water that comes out of the wash is the same (probably due to it using less water as well); (7) my "go to" program tends to be "Cottons, 40oC, 1200 rpm, Speed Perfect" and this gives a very good wash result in 1 hour, to finish drying the washing on racks in the sun; (8) the total of 4-6 buckets of rinse water are OK to water the lawn with (not too soapy); (9) it has a manual detergent dosing system, not an automatic one, and I preferred this manual dosing method (though other people may not); (10) the machine was able to wash a summer-weight, cotton padded doona (2.1 kg weight) satisfactorily, with a pre-wash + normal wash cycle; I haven't yet tried to wash a winter-weight feather & down doona, but my old ASKO managed this quite well, though with much difficulty balancing. As other people have commented (though I'm not sure if comments are still on the website), there are a couple of negatives - (1) the touch controls on the front panel, including the stop-start switch, are super-sensitive, and you can inadvertently bump them on or off if you lean against the front of the machine; (2) there is a little puddle of water remaining in the lower part of the rubber gusset that you need to dry off before you remove the washing, and you also do need to carefully wipe out the folds of the rubber gusset when you finish washing to extend its life; (3) if the load becomes unbalanced before the spinning starts, the machine can spend a while trying to rebalance, so that it can get up to speed; this is less of a problem when you have a load with different sized items and a fairly full load; (4) I'm not sure that you can actually fit 10 kg of washing into the drum; I decided to weigh some washing and found that the most I could physically squash into the drum was about 6.5-7 kg, though this was a lot (2 bath towels, 4 hand towels, 2 pairs jeans, 14 lots of blokes and ladies undies combined, 14 pairs of socks, 2 lots winter pyjamas, 7 T-shirts & 7 regular shirts); this load took 1 hr & 20 minutes and I wouldn't put this much in one load again. In summary, this machine delivers an excellent wash of a quite large load in about 1 hour, with efficient use of both detergent and water. I'm hoping that, being "Made in Germany", the machine proves to be reliable and long-lasting as well. As an aside, there was also a Choice-recommended Bosch Front Loader model available at the same time, WAW28420AU, which was a 9kg/65L drum model and also Made in Germany. I decided to go for the slightly larger Bosch, the 10kg /70 L drum model, since the cabinet size was the same (and fitted into the existing space) and I had found that my old ASKO (6kg/50 L drum) was too small. Appliances Online were their normal efficient selves - we ordered and paid one day, it was delivered the next day within the promised time-frame, and they removed the old appliance which we had placed on the back veranda. We removed and stored the transit screws, bolts and struts and installed the new machine ourselves which was easy apart from needing to slightly enlarge the hole in the side of the laundry sink cabinet, to accommodate the filter attachment on the inlet hose.

Good washing machine

The washing machine is quiet and efficient with a range of convienient features. The ability to stop the cycle and open the door early on is great for those moments you turn around and see an item that didn't make it into the wash. The built in water heater means that warm and hot washing doesn't require the use of the hot water system allowing warm washes and showers in one evening. The ability to choose temperature and spin speed is convienent for tailoring washes to suit the items and the tme adjusts automatically so you know what to expect before you wash. The cycles also tell you their kg capacity upon selection but it should be noted most cycles have a lower capacity than 8kg. Service from the Good guys was good, however I wasn't asked if I had stairs and was lucky to have purchased premium delivery which takes the product up one flight of stairs (only). More attention needs to be paid by staff to the nuances in delivery orders.

Home connect plus the best washing machine

I have been a fan of Bosch products for a while, but this new serie 8 washing machine is on a whole other level. The electric usage of the Eco cotton wash is tiny but the wash results are exceptional. There is something about the clean you get from a Bosch washing machine. And now the have 10 kilos of space so I can wash my doonas and several sheets at a time brings even more economy for electricity usage, water usage and my time. The added bonus is I get notified on my phone when my wash cycle finishes, starts, has too many suds or any other problem. I can even set or adjust and start the cycle from my phone. Home connect even plays nice with Home Assistant, meaning my home automation system also understands what the appliance is doing. My life just got a whole lot easier!

So New Machine purchased (thanks to the super helpful people at Bosh NZ - fantastic customer service), we have had the machine for just over a month and have learnt plenty, so here are the Pro's and con's for us. Pro's: It is super quiet. Washes really well Love the light inside the drum (no more left behind socks!) Good looking instrument pannel It is clever, but still allows us to alter the setings to match what we want when washing different loads. Cons: (not major faults - just small niggles) Like most front loader machines, you have to contend with a small puddle of water at the lip of the door seal/gasket before removing your washing - easy to overcome with a quick wipe, but would be better if it fully drained and there was no water there. Delay start - You can only use this function once you have downloaded the APP and connected the machine to the WiFi - simple enough to do, but there is no 'manual' control on the machine for 'Delay Start' - APP only. BTW the App works really well, and once you get the hang of it' it is really usefull. To use the 'Delay Start' you must remind yourself to have the power 'on' the machine before you leave the house. Not a major, but if you forget, you can't direct the machine to work . Priced - not the cheapest, bu then again quality costs, and we have been really happy with all our Bosch appliances (Dishwashes/Oven/ Power tools etc). Overall I would recommend this Washing machine - it is super quiet, does a great job, has flexible settings, lots of functionality, and If you are O.K having it connected to your home wifi, it will do everything you want and more.

Toxic Odour
13 July 2022

**There were no reviews to compare** My new Bosch was a gift from one of my daughters, Nyomi. I was excited as first time ever having a front loader and for an 8kg it didn't take up much space like my whirlpool. Only problem is a very toxic odour coming from, where seems to be, the rubber gasket around door. I thought, being a new machine, that the odour is natural and will go away after initial run without clothes or after a couple uses. Didn't happen and the smell is making me nauseous and causing headaches. I've wiped down gasket, especially inside the lip, all around. Makes no difference. Had to organise a call out from the manufacturer. Person comes today. This may be a "one off" problem. If anyone else has experiencedthe same, please write a review. Cheers!

Useability Issues with settings, dashboard readability and energy use on default Drum Clean cycle
13 February 2023

This is I believe, a good washing machine. My Previous front loader washing machine was also a Bosch front loader and lasted 12 years.Installation and first Use Issues1. The electric cord was slightly shorter than my previous Bosch washing machine and would not reach the wall mounted power point. I had to use an extension cord for the installer to use.2. I used the Drum Clean cycle first wash and left it at the default settings which involved 90C water temperatures. Three quarters of the way through the cycle the washing machine tripped my house circuit breaker. Twice. Useability issues 3. I usually use a mixed wash, cold water, 800 spins, eco-cycle and turn off the machine at the power plug when I finish the wash . I have to set the cold water wash and spin number ... MoreThis is I believe, a good washing machine. I have to set the cold water wash and spin number each and every time, it seems. The Red LED dashboard read out is harder to see than the readout on my previous machine. Not good if your eyesight is declining (as mine appears to be)But does it do the job of washing clothes Yep. I'm happy on that count. I hope it last 12 years or more.

nothing but problems
23 September 2022

after some frustration with front loading washing machines, I decided to bite the bullet and buy a quality brand, made in Europe Bosch machine. After 3 years of rocket level noise, leaks, walking around to the laundry, We finally had an assessor come to our house. We had paid for the extended warranty, and one would think this was a good thing. The technician said that he had never ever seen a machine with such problems, and immediately advised us that it was "unfixable". He was pretty straight forward that the problems we had all stemmed from this issue. That was at the sart of August, and despite repeated phone calls to the Appliance online extended warranty provider, I keep getting told its "still with Bosch". user review of Serie 8 washing machine and dryer
14 May 2022

After reading many product reviews and weighing up all the options, my wife and I decided on Bosch for our laundry upgrade. We have done several runs in both the washing machine, heat pump dryer and with the stacking kit, and are extremely pleased with the results. One can get a bit hyped over the ‘Made in Germany’ or ‘Designed in Germany’ tags. Having personally worked on German medical imaging equipment for decades, there is an undeniable build quality to these products. The ability to customise and fine-tune the washing and drying cycles via the Bosch Home Connect app is surprisingly versatile. The ability to customise and fine-tune the washing and drying cycles via the Bosch Home Connect app is surprisingly versatile. Enjoying not having to manually fill detergent/softener, and notice we use far less than we did, as the washing machine’s I-Dos dosing system dispenses the optimal amounts. The 1,600rpm spin speed has been used on the washing machine, and the unit is quiet, stable and vibration free. The heat pump dryer is plumbed directly to the drain, and after years of using a normal dryer, there is no more condensation or lint dust buildup on the walls. Recommend purchasing the Bosch stacking kit, if you are going to place the dryer on top of the washing machine, as it keeps both units secure, with the advantage of the handy slide out shelf. Models WAX32K41AU, WTX88MH0AU. WTZ11400 purchased and recommended without hesitation.
