Bose Quietcomfort 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

The Bose QuietComfort 15 headphones were my ultimate travel companion during a recent plane trip. The noise-canceling technology whisked away the chaos, leaving only my music or serene silence. These one One of the best investments I've ever made. It is wired, but honestly there are some perks to that. If the battery dies I can still use these as headphones, even though the noise canceling feature wouldn't work. I also like that these require AAA batteries instead of being rechargeable. I got some rechargeable AAA batteries, but I really like knowing that I can just go by some AAA batteries from any store if I happen to run out of juice when traveling. As far as noise canceling goes these are as good as it gets. Yes, there are some frequencies that will still get through, but they will be substantially dampened. These are great for flying, and really help drown out the airplane noise and noise from other passengers. Disappointed with my Bose QuietComfort 15 head phones

Very disappointed in the Bose QuietComfort 15 headphones. They were wonderful (while they lasted)...the first problem was the ear muffs fell apart. The protective fabric surrounding the foam cushioning became unattached. While this did not negatively affect the sound quality, it surprised me nevertheless. It just seemed incompatible with the quality I thought represented Bose. The second problem is that the head phones just stopped working. I cannot get power after replacing batteries. The head phones just literally “stopped working”. I’ve taken very good care of these head phones as I am a musician and I need quality head phones that I can rely upon. Excellent Acoustics with Comfortable

I love the Bose QC 15 headphones. I play 4 instruments. I'm picky about sound. I've worn these for 10 hours a day at work, for the last 5 years. They don't knock all another noises out, yet the noise cancelation helps immensely. Sound quality is good. Not as loud as Sony's but loud enough. Good base, mid and high range. Excellent for acoustics. I listen to everything from fingerstyle guitar, native American Indian flute, folk, classic rock and heavy metal. I've tried other headphones and I always come back to these. I own several pairs because I never want to be without these. They've held up over the years. Have yet to have a pair quit working. Two thumbs up from me. ~ A picky cello player.

Great sound for the price, total ear coverage

There's a lot of old guys like me out there who wear hearing aids and finding headphones that work is difficult and I've tried several. These Bose headphones are way better than everything else I have found-block out most of the noise in an airplane trip and don't cause whistling feedback etc in from my over the ear hearing aids. So-sound is excellent. Fit is too. Quiet on the airplane and perfect for doing outdoor video work. I could not be happier. At the Ebay prices it is worth giving them a try. I did and I am happy I did.

I'm not a sound nerd but here's my very positive Quiet Comfort 15 review

We have special needs in our family and I wear Bose Quiet Comfort to sleep when it's my turn. I used them at first to block out a really strong storm. Usually I love storms (we live in the Great NW) but this was too much so I remembered my husband had a pair of QC15 for travel, so I wore them to sleep. Eventually I realized they could help me sleep all the time. Sometimes I listen to recorded books, sometimes just to the white noise. I've tried others including the QT25. I'm saving that pair for wearing to loud amusement parks. Quiet Comfort 15 are the best for sleeping in and wearing during chores, w/a recorded book, when I'm not otherwise needed. The QT25 are similar in quality BUT they were designed to fold up smaller so there are extra bends in the headband. I'm so addicted to Quiet Comfort 15 that I not only stocked up on as many as I could find but I've given some away to dear friends who need quiet and comfort. I gave 2 pair of the Quiet Comfort 35 Wireless to friends who don't need them for sleep bc I believe in the company and quality and they needed wireless for a project. Might be nice to be wireless, but the QT15 are tried and true for my sleep.

Keep going back to Bose

This is my second pair of QC 15s. I had a pair a few years ago, but sold them when I stopped traveling. Ive been using my Sony WH-CH700Ns since Ive started traveling for work again, but was missing that Bose sound quality. The Sonys are really good headphones, but are a tad bit quiet, and have a little less bass. They also have an annoying app that you must use to adjust the EQ and pick your prefered sound profile. This gives a custom approach, which is nice, but they still ultimately lose out on overall experience to the Bose. I bought this set of QC15s used for $35. I was a little leery with all of the knockoffs flooding the market, but Ive checked these against all of the signs for real vs. fake, and am extremely excited that theyve passed. LOVE MY BOSE

I bought one of these fifteen years ago through Bose and they would send me foam ear pads and cord when they would wear out. I paid such a minimum cost of ten dollars or less to have them mailed to me. The quietness was so great when i used them on the airplane. No yelling or plane noise or or or. :-) The speaker finally went out in the right side and i could not fix it. Saw this on ebay and jumped on it as Bose does not make this brand anymore. Everything is wireless except. at age 75 I will take this over wireless anyday.

There is virtually no difference in either sound quality or noise reduction in either pair so that will not be discussed here, suffice to say the frequency range is the usual very good deep low to high with Bose, but importantly the dynamic range (loudest to quietest) of what you can hear is improved due to the noise cancellation (compared to no noise cancellation). You get two connectors with these, one for android and early apple "i" devices, and a second one for the newer apple "i" devices including those that need a lightening adapter for a cabled headphone. Of course the temptation here is to get one of the wireless versions, but then you can't use those for the on-board aircraft entertainment, and some airlines insist you shut off anything wireless during take off and descent, so cabled headphones still have a place. In addition you also get that quirky two prong airline adapter in the case. Another key difference between the 25 and the 15, is that the 25 will operate without an AAA battery (cell) but the 15 will not. So ensure you pack a second into the travel case. Having said that battery life is impressive, an alkaline AAA will last 20-30 hours. The 15's travelcase is slimmer but wider, the 25's is fatter and narrower. They weigh approximately the same. Another use of these is as "mufflers". They are comfortable enough to sleep in, and cancelling out aircraft noise should help you sleep, far more comfortable and more effective than earplugs. You don't need to plug them into anything. Using a battery (cell) as opposed to rechargeable headphones (as are most wireless) has another benefit if you are unable to charge your rechargeable headphone as AAA cells are easily bought just about anywhere.

Supplied instructions are not particularly useful, but online support information is better. After figuring out where the battery goes, how to close its cover and which cables go where, the first impression is that they securely envelope the ears with a noticeable but acceptable level of pressure and that the ear cushions have a comfortable, luxurious feel. The sensation of envelopment gives a feeling of being isolated from the environment, but it should be noted that these headphones do leak noise to a moderate extent, so you could expect grumpy stares from co-workers if you were to listen to music at high volume in an office environment, much as with large open back design headphones. Switching on the active noise reduction immediately impresses with its effectiveness at removing the low frequency noise that you may not have even realised was surrounding you, e.g. air conditioning fan noise. This is a fine thing, since cutting out aircraft cabin drone is the primary reason that many people purchase noise cancelling headphones. The QC 15 is supplied with travel case, adapter plug for airplane use, and cables for use with Apple devices, which will please those people with iPhones, iPods or iPads. The case is very well designed, with a rounded wedge shape that should be easy to quickly jam into a full cabin bag, and a pair of ridges that allow a good grip for retrieval. It is covered with a soft textile that is comfortable to hold and has a sturdy feel with enough stiffness that I would classify it as a hard case, even though it not rigid. The ear cups rotate 90 degrees, allowing the headphones to be stored flat and the case has a couple of moulded bosses to hold the ear cups in place and prevent the foam compressing on the critical edges. A small removable zippered pouch is provided for cable and adapter storage, as well as a business card holder (which Bose has optimistically filled with "courtesy cards" to allow you to advertise their product!) that might just help them find their way home if you leave them in an aircraft seat pocket. Externally, the case has a loop for attaching a strap, and an elasticized pouch, which could be used for passport, MP3 player and/or phone. As for music reproduction, I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality. They are comparable to my Sennheiser U320 headset, and my Sennheiser HD 515 headphones, both of which are aimed at a high end consumer or entry level audiophile. Although not budget-priced headphones, my prejudices had led me to think that a large part of the price was for the Bose name and aesthetic design features, with performance secondary. It should be noted that they do not produce any sound at all unless powered on. Bose advises that an AAA alkaline battery typically provides 35 hours use. In summary, I have been impressed with all aspects of these headphones. They are not cheap, so I'd recommend these to those who treasure their possessions (i.e. don't frequently lose or break them), want comfortable high end noise cancelling headphones, and are organised enough to carry spare batteries.
