A Joy to Use

Bluetooth brings a whole new level of performance to these headphones. It is hard to grasp just how much of a difference it makes to get rid of that wire (although a wire is provided if you ever need one). This is important to me, as I mainly use them while exercising. But the QC35's are great in other ways, as well. The fit is perfect: just firm enough a grip to stay on your head without slipping, but light enough so that it is not at all tiring to have them on. I think you could easily wear these for hours in complete comfort. As for the sound, they are classic Bose -- smooth and balanced across the audio spectrum. I know there are lots of folks who prefer phones that accentuate a piercing treble and a booming bass (how often have I heard No highs, no lows, must be Bose?) but for me the characteristic Bose balance is preferable. The point is that if there's a booming bass note in the music, the QC35's will give it to you; it just won't introduce an artificially loud bass note on its own. The noise reduction works well, but is somewhat selective. (You may or may not like this feature.) With the headphones turned on and no musical source playing, you can still hear a voice (or a radio) from outside (albeit not very loudly). What the noise reduction mostly gets rid of is a single-frequency drone (e.g., an airplane motor or a bathroom fan). I prefer this arrangement, since external sounds of all sorts tend to disappear as soon as there's music playing through the phones. Battery life is phenomenally good. It's been two weeks since I last charged mine fully, and after using them daily for exercising (plus some additional listening time), there's still 70% of battery life remaining. And since the battery is rechargeable, there's no need (or expense) for buying replacement batteries. Fit and finish, as you'd expect from Bose, are flawless. The carrying case is well-made and will help these phones travel well, whether to the gym or on a transcontinental flight.

Amazing noise cancellation (as expected)

I did not expect the Bose headphones to be anything close to those headphones, but they definitely meet my expectations, and in wired-mode, I would compare them to something in the ATH50x or MDR-V900 range... a nice, closed-back, decently flat (but not boring) eq sound... but nothing special, and definitely a pretty typical dynamic driver sound (along with all the problems of a typical dynamic driver, some distortion due to slower attack response, muddiness/clarity issues in certain ranges, etc). But don't get me wrong, these do not sound bad by any means --they are exactly what I expected them to be. I am able to very, very clearly distinguish the difference between wired and BT though, but that's more of an issue with BT audio being compressed even with the bandwidth available on BT 4.0. It's going to be a while (maybe BT 5 next year?) before BT audio can keep up with wired. Obviously the sound quality difference is more or less discernable depending on audio source, and for most applications, I'll still use bluetooth as the drop in sound quality doesn't really bother me.

So many over the ear headphones seem to be made for smaller ears than mine. I've not yet listened to music, nor with a fully populated office. I will this week and I'll update my review if the experience is anything other than five-star.

Decent

Let me begin by saying I'm super picky about sound. So, if you're not, you can add another star to my review. The QuietComfort 35's sound pretty decent for what they are - midrange, bluetooth headphones. They have decent to good dynamic range with lows, mids, and highs all represented. There is good side-to-side spread in the sound. The bluetooth pairing is easy and stable. And they are light and more comfortable than the majority of over-ear headphones. However, where the 35's fall off is in front-to-back sound. This means everything kind of sounds mushed together, which for me, can deliver a somewhat undynamic, boring sound. Again, if you're someone who likes Beats, other Bose headphones, and things in that range, these will be good for you. Great Headphones

Love the silver color. Great battery life. Sound quality is excellent as expected. Tested on a recent cross country flight and noise cancelation worked well. No issues when connected via bluetooth to my ipad & iphone simultaneously. No noticeable sync issue with video when connected via bluetooth to my ipad. I forgot to bring the included cord to connect to the onboard entertainment system, but they do include a special prong adapter specifically for this purpose. The prong has a special place inside the case, but the cord that connects the prong to the headphones does not (which is why it was forgotten). Great Product For Frequent Travelers

This is my first pair of NC headphones, and what a difference it makes! I do a lot of traveling for work, and these headphones work beautifuly when traveling by plane. The noise cancelling works very well...way better than ear buds or standard over-the-ear headphones. The sound quality is great, but I wish there were ways to EQ for different types of audio. The headphones are quite comfortable, even on longer flights. The build quality is good, and the case is sturdy but small enough to travel with. I haven't maxed out the battery yet, but the battery lasted for the 3-hour flight I was on recently, along with about an hour of use in the terminal while waiting for the flight. Overall, this is a very good product for people who travel frequently, especially by air. ... MoreThis is my first pair of NC headphones, and what a difference it makes! In my opinion, the Quiet Comfort 35 are not the best headphones in their price range for sound quality

In my opinion, the Quiet Comfort 35 are not the best headphones in their price range for sound quality. There are more audiophile driven headphones with more accurate sound delivery. However, the bass is punchy and the mids are consistent. The general user listening to streaming music over bluetooth won't notice much of a difference between brands. The sound is clean an consistent to the Bose name. The secondary features are where these headphones stand out. The construction quality and overall aesthetics are superb. The noise cancellation is the best in the market. The headphones are comfortable and function exactly as advertised. The best phones on the road!
13 November 2016

The sounding of this phones connected by the cord is outstanding. The sound is very rich and detailed. They're not professional studio headphones and they are bit equalized, of course, but the main criteria for me, in this case, is that I really like it. There is no overwhelming bass that blows your brain, and no annoying boost of high frequencies that makes you ears bleeding. No, the sound is smooth and well balanced, with a wide range of frequencies. I used to listen to music in lossless, so I can't say that Bluetooth sounds fine: even Bose is not responsible for physical laws. But there is almost no difference if you listen to a lossy media. They look great, the design is perfect, the quality of materials and craftsmanship is very high. They are incredibly comfortable. It's a big pleasure to use this phones. All in all, I love this headphones. Maybe, it's possible to buy something that sounds better for this money, but undoubtably, this phones sound great and are the best phones around with ANC. If you listen to music on the go or in travels, it's the best choice. Some words about what this phones can and what can not. They can play corded in active and passive modes (i.e., powered and unpowered). It has equalized preamp, so the sound is differ in passive mode. ANC can't be switched off in active modes. The equalization of Bluetooth and corded modes are similar, but not quite identical. Corded, they sound best. BT sounds quite good, too, as much as it possible for BT. They can be paired with 2 devices simultaneously and switch between them automatically you just have to pause one device and play on another (but not simultaneously). The headset mode works over Bluetooth only, as well as volume and playback controls. The cord from older QC25 won't help.

Totally worth the money

I'm a professional travel writer and singer (www.tbcmikah.com), this means A) I love having peace and quiet to focus on writing/editing, and B) I'm very careful about how I treat my ears. I purchased this product after trying a friend's Bose Noise Canceling headphones on a plane. It completely changed flying for me. No longer did I have to blast headphones (hurting my ears) to work on my computer or watch a movie during flights. Also, a friend of mine who is a professor of sound engineering at Howard University said they were safe for ears (after I had some trepidation). An expensive product, for sure, but worth the investment.
